My ipod will no longer turn on, and comes up with the image of a connector lead and itunes logo, but if I try plugging it back into my computer my computer no longer picks it up. I'm thinking of try re-installing itunes, but need the back up I made to still be accessable.

My iTunes stopped recognizing my iPhone and iPod touch. I've rebooted both devices, done a restart on both devices. Rebooted my MacBook. Done every combination of the above. Downloaded/Reinstalled iTunes.

I just started using a new computer and I tried synching it today for the first time and that's what happened. My itunes keeps freezing when this happens and then I have to restart my computer so it's frustrating. please if anyone knows what to do...

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITUNES IS NOT PICKING UP MY IPOD, BUT WINDOWS DOES

iTunes does not watch the folders to see what's new. When you put songs in the folder, you have to tell iTunes to add them, by the command File > *Add (File or Folder) to Library.*

  • Music on iPod disappeared from iTunes library. It stays on iPod even when I sync. Can I get it back in iTunes?

Thank you to anyone who can help me with this. When I got my iPod touch a few months ago, I first imported music from CDs into iTunes. I then created playlists and hooked up my iPod and synched it. My music library and playlists no longer appear in iTunes. When I sync  my iPod, the songs and playlists still remain on my iPod. Is there any way to get the songs and playlists to show in iTunes again?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
Or, if the media isn't on your computer any longer...
    Recover media from iPod
See this post from forum regular Zevoneer for options on moving your iPod data back to your computer.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Audiobooks will no longer transfer to my ipod touch from overdrive media! Help!!

With every ios update, this problem gets worse. Before ios5 audiobooks worked seamlessly, now since ios6 most recent update, only select parts of the book will transfer to my device. I then get a notice from itunes at the conclusion of the transfer that some parts can not play on my ipod. SO while previously it was just scattering the sections of the book, now it will simply not accept them at all. Books are the primary reason i purchased this ipod, and now it is useless. any new suggestions? PLEASE

  • I forgot my ipod passcode and cant sync to itunes

Im also locked out of my ipod. *** SHOILD I DO!!!!!

If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.

  • Please Help.  Installed iTunes 7 and now my 4G iPod & Shuffle won't sync !

And please don't refer me to the basic "uninstall/re-install" crap. It doesn't work. Have any other windows users experienced this?
Oh and also the "find album art" doesn't work and I can't turn the "shared" stuff off. I go to preferences and de-select everything on sharing, then lo and behold it automatically puts the check mark right back in!
However the last 2 problems pale in comparison to not being able to sync my 4G or Shuffle!

    Hello Luis,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
First I would attempt each and every single one of the suggestions in this article as necesssary.

  • Ipod touch will not sync PLAESE HELP!!!!

I have pretty much exhausted all resources for help. We bought an ipod touch 32GB for my son for Christmas. I have had nothing but problems with this thing from the start. I have spent endless hours on the phone with apple tech doing EVERYTHING from updating drivers to uninstalling itunes and all of it's componentsand reinstalling itunes.
Every time I connect the ipod to the computer, it will recognize it is there and start to sync. about half way through the sync, the message "The ipod cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to." will appear. I can sync my ipod classic with no problems. I took the touch to my brothers house and synced it with no problem but once I hook it back to my computer and then disconnect it, it says there is no content (i.e music) in the ipod even though it still is showing in the library for the ipod.
PLEASE HELP, short of buying a new computer, I am at a total loss here.

I have been having a similar problem with my 32GB iTouch as well. Once it's up and running (2 seperate trips to the Apple store), it will sync just fine with iTunes. If I have to restore it (i.e. software update), it will just sit in restore mode until it errors out or I stop the process. I installed iTunes on my laptop and it seems to restore just fine...once that is accomplished, I can sync it with the primary computer.
I've tried turning off windows firewall (even though there is an exception for iTunes already in there) but that didn't make a difference. I've tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, no difference. Basically I've got it boiled down to some program on my computer is causing the process from completeing. I'm to the point now where I'm just gonna to do a fresh back up of my hard drive on an external one and reinstall my OS. I'm not sure if that will make a difference or not because I'm running XP on my laptop and everything works as advertised. But if I can't figure out what other rogue program is preventing my restore, I'm afraid a fresh load is the only solution.
If anybody else has some suggestions, I'd love to hear them! In particular, if there are any known programs that interfere with iTunes (drivers, software, web browsers, anything!)
    Thanks!

  • Need help adding music to my phone. music shows up on my phone in itunes but is grayed out and looks like it is syncing., need help adding music to my phone. music shows up on my phone in itunes but is grayed out and looks like it is syncing.

A bit confused by your statement

. I do not understand why the music is clearly on the Ipod but wont reconize it anywhere.
Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and  use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.
