My iTunes store purchases take ages to download

Everytime I buy something on iTunes. It take way longer that it used to. I am all up to date with iTunes updates. Tv shows take like 2 hours to download.

I have been experiencing slow download speeds when attempting to download video purchases from the iTunes store on two separate occasions. (10/4/09 and 10/5/09)
Another thread mentioned that the 9.0.1 iTunes update resolved the problem, however this has not been my experience.
Attempting to download a single episode of Dexter in standard definition took approximately 4 hours, and at such a slow rate that it was impossible to watch while downloading.
I have restarted my machine, restarted my modem and router, and I use OpenDNS, all to no avail.
This appears to be a problem with either iTunes 9 or the restructuring of the iTunes Store.

  • Itunes store purchase: when should it download?

I've just made a purchase on Itunes Store, and 15 mins later (and two Itunes restarts) nothing has downloaded (?)
I went through the payment process, and everything was OK, yet, as I say, nothing has downloaded yet.
I've checked my purchase history, and my available downloads in the Store Menu on Itunes itself, and there's nothing in my history, and checking for available downloads does diddly squat (I would have least expected a message saying you have 0 or however many downloads pending at this point).
Anyhoo, how long should it take for a purchase to download, and how long should I leave it before trying to purchase again - should there have been a problem with the first - without the risk of being billed twice?

If you had the box to agree to new iTunes Store terms of service, you will need to go thru the purchase again.
When this pops up, iTunes does not complete the transaction.

How do I download previously purchased albums from iTunes when the album has either disappeared from my computer or the tunes are not playable?  The albums show as purchased on the iTunes store, but not available to download to my authorized device.  I also have albums that appear in my library, but are not able to be added to my iPod from my computer

When you download something from the iCloud, it is a brand new licensed copy. Your iCloud account just contains a notation that you have this app. It isn't storing an actual copy of the app from your Mac.

  • HT201272 Why all my previous downloaded apps (free or paid) suddenly not showing up on the iTunes store "purchased" section.  Every time I select "purchased", the next screen shows "no purchased app available for downloaded"?? Please help!!

Why all my previous downloaded apps (free or paid) suddenly not showing up on the iTunes store "purchased" section.  Every time I select "purchased", the next screen shows "no purchased app available for downloaded"?? It is the same on my iphone4 or ipad 2!!  Please help!!

Dear Metal Wheels and King Penguin.
I have to actually same problem today 23.10.2012. For an example I have only changed billing methods and have bought hundreds of apps but I remember clearly that I bought for an example ,,Wikipanion Plus'' and ,,OPlayer'' which is now HD OPlayer and I did not see them in purchased items, neither ,,not on ipad/iphone'' nour ,,not on my computer'' and I check in both my computer. I confirm hereby that I took the chance to re-buy these two Apps again through the same account but I got the message ,,As you have bought the previous version on this account you will get this update for free'' so I clicked yes and I got them both. This doesnt only proof that I have purchased them before and purchased items in iTunes Store has some lacks to fix but also it proofs that I also bought them through that specific account as I had to confirm the buying process. In my opnion this is not a thing which Apple should be relaxed with as its very important that powerusers and regular consumers can trust and rely on doing business and to shop via iTunes. I have a lot of expensive Apple Hardware and for me this is a stepping stone and a serious test on the circle of trust. If this cant be fixed I cannot recommend others to trust the store.

  • ITunes wil not download iTunes Store purchases to my network drive

I have iTunes 8.2.1.6 loaded. I can't remember when the last upgrade came through and not sure when the downloads to my network drive stopped working, but they used to work.
I first set-up iTunes on my Win XP laptop in January 2008. I already had my network set-up at home and had been storing my music and media on a network drive for long before that. Initially everything was fine, iTunes connected and created the library. It also allowed me to download from the store directly to my mapped network drive.
The library still works and still picks up all the music and media from my network drive. The problem is, whenever I try to purchase from iTunes Store, the download fails and says the disk is full (it's not - there's 70GB left on it). If I set my iTunes Music Folder location to be local C: drive, it downloads with no issue. Problem is I only have between 2 and 5GB left on my C: drive and it's only a 30GB drive to begin with, so way too small for my library.
Recently (July) I purchased a TV Episode from iTunes Store. It tried to download 6 separate instances, every one failed. When I switched my iTunes Music Folder location to C:, it finally downloaded. I switched my folder location back to the network on completion and manually moved the TV episode to the network (it was a HD+SD download, so multiple copies, and the meta data / library entry now seems to be screwed!).
Today I have tried to download an album and I get the same error about the network disk being full! This is too much hassle and not endearing me in anyway to Apple!
If anyone has any ideas as to how I might resolve this, I'd be very grateful.
    Cheers

I am having a similar problem for 3 weeks now, and wasted hours messing with our Firewall software, etc. thinking that was the problem. Thanks to your post I tried changing the Itunes Music Folder location temporarily to our C: drive, and voila-- suddenly downloads can be completed. We choose to keep our Itunes library folder on a separate networked hard drive, and ever since we updated to Itunes 8.2.1.6 we've been unable to download purchased music to this drive. We had no problems for the last 2 years with previous versions of Itunes & our preference configurations for the library. The error message I got when I tried to download purchased content (both music & video) was "error (-48) unknown error. unable to complete download... check network connection and try again". Of course our PC WAS connected to the internet, and I could access the Store and download from other websites, just not Itunes.
Could this be related?? : Looking in my Itunes folder in the networked drive, I tried to delete the Downloads folder (after reading a suggestion in a forum to delete purchased music files if they were partially downloaded, and then try to download them again). I have been unable to delete or rename this folder, getting this error message: "Cannot delete Downloads. The file or directory is corrupted & unreadable".
A separate, Itunes bug related to Music Folder location-- we also had a major problem trying to get the location of all our music properly identified in Itunes library with this latest software version. We had to wipe our C: hard-drive due to a virus, and when we downloaded the updated Itunes software & set the preferences to point to the library on our networked drive, it isn't properly identifying thousands of the files (we have ~10,000 songs. The "Consolidate files" feature is very buggy, and only worked for maybe 1/5 of the files before stopping. We don't want to keep trying to run it, because we are afraid we'll end up with even more duplicate "ghost" files than we have now ("Unable to locate file" under "Get info" the "where" field is blank. We've had to manually load folders from the networked hard drive one by one, using the
"Add Folder to Library" feature. This is taking forever, as this needs to be done for 100's of artist folders, then we have to delete the duplicate music files that still appear in the library!!

  • Why do I get a black screen in front row when watching some iTunes store purchases? esp Cars 2

We bought Cars 2 a few months ago from the iTunes store. The movie won't work in Front Row, we only get a black screen (except for the blue Front Row controls at the bottom) although the audio comes through just fine. The annoying part is all of our other iTunes store movies work fine in Front Row. Just Cars 2 is broken. I don't think that it is an authorisation problem because it plays okay in iTunes, Quicktime, even via airplay to an appleTV or via Home Sharing to our iPad.
The movie is only standard definition so I am guessing that it is not an HDCP issue; I understand that there is only HDCP on HD movies. We are playing it on a Mac Mini (core 2 duo) on a Sony Bravia via a VGA connector.
After a little bit of complaining, apple let us download the movie again in case the file was corrupted, but unfortunately the same problem with the new version.
The computer did have Perian installed at one point, but uninstalling and restarting made no difference.
I have found lots of reports of movies with missing picture in Front Row but these are all ripped videos, never with an iTunes Store purchase.
Apple won't refund our money as the purchase was more than 60 days ago by the time I gave up troubleshooting and reported the problem.

Yeah! Problem solved: It's a QT issue.
Cause: Mac Update Software downloaded a faulty QT.
Solution: Download QT from Apple's QT site.
Great to have the Video back

  • How can I stop my iTunes Store purchases automatically going onto my iPhone?

How can I stop my iTunes Store purchases automatically going onto my iPhone?
I've downloaded several thing, including Christmas songs, but do not want them on my iPhone anymore - but no matter what I do, every time I sync my phone, all my purchases revert back to the old names (purchased names, ie. "The Blue - EP" when I have renamed them to "The Blue") and then come up on my iPhone. Despire finding the song on my phone, swipping it to delete, it'll reappear later on.
I have also set up that only songs in a created playlist are to be on my iPhone, (these songs are not on it), yet they always appear.
How can I ensure the downloaded files DO NOT change names and stop going onto my iPhone every time I sync up?
    Thank you.

It looks like you're trying to play a track bought from the iTunes store (or does it happen with other songs too?). Make sure you are logged in with the account the track was bought with.

  • Synced new ipod to itunes, now missing all but itunes store purchased music that is already on my phone

Synced our new ipod nano today to itunes. I don't know what happened but now all but itunes store purchases are in the library, my playlist is gone as well as all the music I had downloaded from my CD's. The iphone 5 still has everything on it but not on my computer. Frustrating!!   Now I'm scared to sync my phone, thinking I may lose all of my library off there as well. How do I get my library back on to my computer so I can transfer that music to my ipod?

Look into iTunes Match, a service from Apple that uploads your music in itunes to the cloud (not icloud) so you can download it to other devices.
    Try googling "itunes match"

  • Remove DRM from early itunes store purchases

The itunes help screen says, "If you already have iTunes Store purchases that are now available as iTunes Plus downloads, you may upgrade your existing purchases. To do so, visit the iTunes Store and follow the onscreen instructions."
If there are 'on screen instructions' I don't see them anywhere.
    Ideas?
    Thanks much

  • HT201272 I have several long classical music downloads that do not finish or skip after a minute to the next track. The iTunes store recognizes these as successful downloads.  They are not, but there is no way to complete the downloads now.  Or is there?

Using ITunes support was useless.  The support help says that they can be downloaded if I go to the store again.  But the store says that they are downloaded and will not download them. It will only allow me to delete them or more correctly "hide" them.
There are issues with downloads taken on two separate computers.
Another question is why do all of the earlier Classical downloads, made five or so year ago or more, cut the very ends of each track of Classical music short and cue up the next track too quickly?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • ITunes store is extremely slow. Downloads and browsing the store is slow.

Prior to iTunes 7, I had no problems with iTunes whatsoever. Now, just like many other users, the iTunes store is unbelievably slow.
When I start up iTunes and select the iTunes store, it takes about 20 seconds to load up the store. If I try to preview a song, it instantly gives me the message "Network Stalled, Rebuffering Stream".
When I try and download anything, it is painfully slow. It takes about 15-20 minutes to download one song and movies and TV shows are impossible since they will eventually time out.
I even tried setting my router up using the OpenDNS addresses and iTunes is still slow. I contacted my ISP and they informed me that they are not blocking any ports associated w/ iTunes. Like I said, I had no problems with iTunes prior to iTunes 7.
This affects both my PC and my laptop. If I plug them directly into the internet without a router it's still the same issue. However, if I take my laptop over to a friend's house who has a different ISP it's completely fine and downloads fast again.
I've spoken with tech support for my ISP and they tell me there is nothing they can do, and to "hope that iTunes 8 comes out soon"
So, is there anything I can do on my side, other than the OpenDNS option since it doesn't work? I'm extremely angry at this situation and don't know why iTunes 7 changed something to where it conflicts with so many people's ISP.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • ITunes Store claims I have already downloaded the SD episodes???

    Hello,
Last week I purchased Fringe Season Two HD on my AppleTV. As they were downloading I went to the Purchased section in the iTunes Store on my MacBook and downloaded the first two episodes in SD.
Yesterday, I tried to download more SD episodes but I was told I had already downloaded all the SD episodes to that computer. I hadn't though.
I have just tried to download them on my iMac, but I get a "search had no results" message, except for HD episodes.
I was going to try download them on my iPhone, but I do not know how to download SD episodes.
    Can anybody help?

You'll need to download the SD episodes through your Purchased page.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

If you'll see the Downloaded icon grayed out, this means you already have the episodes on your computer. You just need to help iTunes locate the files.
No content shows up in iTunes after updating

  • My latest iTunes store purchase

My latest iTunes store purchase shows in 'Purchased' but not in my library. Any ideas??

Thank you but didn't fix.  I did all of those things.  1. there is no 'show itunes in the cloud purchases' in the store preferences.  2. the purchased quick link only shows a few purchases in movies.  3.  When I go to the store on my Ipad and the Apple TV everything shows.  So it has to be something on the PC and the latest download for Itunes.  Because it's not showing up on the store purchases on the PC but does on the Apple TV and the Ipad.  At least I figure I haven't lost them.  I'm baffled as the icloud hidden question doesn't show up on either the store purchased or in the Itunes preferences.

  • How can I restore a purchased TV season that I erased from my library and iCloud, and that isn't on my iTunes Store Purchased list?

A few days ago I erased a TV season from my iTunes library, but also from iCloud accidently. Now that I want to restore it, I can't because it isn't on the iTunes Store Purchased list; even though that if I go to the page of the season, in the image it says that it is purchased, but I can't download any episode. What can I do to solve this?

Re-sync your device to iTunes and uncheck Sync under Photos.
