My iTunes store won't connect to my apple ID

everytime i try to connect to the apple store on my mac it says "the iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. please try again later." and i have been trying that for several day, even weeks!.
so... can someone please hel me! i'm desperate and i need to download some purchases

As Gail has said, anti-virus software can do this sort of thing. However, other software can as well, such as Little Snitch or "net nanny" software. Try starting up in Safe Mode and see if that makes a difference. If it does, you have some kind of third-party software installed that is blocking the connection.
If that's not it, try connecting from another network. It's possible there's something wrong with your network that is causing that connection to fail. If the connection to the store works on another network, you've got a problem with your network that will need to be addressed.

What have you tried to fix it ? If you haven't already done so then see if any of the following fix it :
    - log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in
    - close the iTunes store app via the multitasking bar and see if it works when you re-open it : double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the iTunes store app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
    - soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

  • Itunes store won't connect. I can get my APPS

Itunes store won't connect, I can get my APPS and library. when I run the diognostics it states "Secure link to Itunes store failed" but it has validated the internet connection. When I click on the help it tells me my computer is not hooked up to the internet. I had updated my Windows Security and I think that is what messed it up..... any idea's on what settings to change???

You will have to remove all Apple programs associated with iTunes:
i  iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Make sure everything that is by Apple is removed including Safari. You can sort by "Publisher", when you uninstall programs. Make sure you have at least one other web browser (like Firefox or Internet Explorer) before removing Safari. That way you can go back to the Apple web site and redownload iTunes later.
Reboot the computer then reinstall iTunes. Everything should work normally.

  • TS4123 iTunes Store won't connect.

So my iTunes store won't open. It's just the continuous line with "Accessing iTunes Store" above it. I followed the directions here (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123) and the anti-virus it's finding is disabled. I'm kinda at a loss here since I can't update my iOS.

Okay ... most likely left-over registry key entries relating to PC Tools that weren't removed by the uninstall.
We'd better try resetting the Winsock registry keys. (That should clear the entries away.)

you may need to install iTunes 9.2.1 on your machine.

  • Today, Thursday, 2 Aug 2012, at 11:38 PM Eastern Time, the iTunes store won't connect.  Why?

For a couple of days, I have found the iTunes store to be erratic.  I cannot make purchases, and now when it seems about to allow me to make a purchase, I get a "network connection lost" message that indicates it's a problem with

Yes I am = I am having the very same problem.
I synced the mini with computer. Now I can search App Store but can't download. I tried to sign out of my account, which worked, and sign in to another account (read about this somewhere that it had helped), but now it won't sign into any account. Just say "cannot connect with iTunes Store".

  • Itunes store won't connect since upgrade to itunes 8 (vista)

ever since i upgraded to itunes 8, it won't connect to the store. it says the network has timed out after only trying for like a second. Right when i click the itunes store button, the error pops up immediately. I have vista. When i run a diagnose, it says "Internet connect verified, but then it says "secure link to itunes store failed". how do i fix this? thanks

iTunes 8 has created a serious problem with usbaapl.sys and Windows Vista, the device driver for the iPhone and possibly for every other iPod. According to my research, about 1/3 of all Vista users who have installed iTunes 8 are experiencing the problem. It caused me to have the dreaded BSOD about five times before I did a full system restore from my backup drive to get rid of iTunes 8 and go back to iTunes 7.7.1.11. The new Genius Bar apparently allows Apple to advertise more songs for you to buy while poorly putting together custom playlists based on your song choice and your iTunes music library. Pandora.com does a better job of creating custom radio stations for you for free than iTunes 8 does using its custom algorithm and your song library. iTunes 8 has now become a giant piece of bloatware. Apple should know better by now after experiencing the debacles of the MobileMe launch and the poor connection quality of the G3 iPhone. Apple now seems to be putting the bottom line ahead of all else including satisfied customers other than Apple's lunatic fanboys. Steve Jobs should know better and kick some *** at Apple's programming department.
Come on, Apple. Get back to being known for doing things right the first time.

  • Itunes store won't connect no matter what i do.

This is a long post but i wanted to give you as much information as possible. Below is the transcript between apple support. Here is the Story: just One account says network connection timed out. I didn't think until right now to try a different account which downloaded music and talked with apple just fine. It is only one account that isn't working what can i do? I have tried everything.
    Rashida,
I would like to get the problem solved and i thank you for your time; I have tried what you suggested and it did not work. I have tried different ISP opened my computer completely up so all ports are forwarded to the itunes computer; i have stopped all services including windows firewall on the itunes computer; I have tried installing a fresh copy of windows and only putting itunes on it with all ports forwarded, windows firewall disabled. I believe the error is an error; i don't know why i can't communicate with your servers is there anyway to cancel all the downloads and restart them; this might be due to me not completing a download on my iphone then trying to complete it on the computer. When i use my iphone connected to my wi-fi i can download music so my ISP can't be blocking the service. This is a very strange problem and would appreciate apples support and help. I may not be an expert on computers but i am in school for a degree in software development so my knowledge is above the norm. Thank you Rashida I hope we can find a solution.

    Dear Japesweb
My name is Rashida and I understand that you are having trouble downloading your purchased item due to a connection error. You are receiving a message stating "unable to check for downloads network has timed out." You also tried to download it using your parents device and you encountered the same error message.
As an iTunes Store agent, I handle issues related to billing, downloading, customer accounts, and the items available on the iTunes Store. Because your issue is with the technical operation of Apple hardware, I do not have the training or tools to assist you as well as you deserve. However, finding you a resolution to this issue is of the upmost important to me and so I have included some information that may help you.
I have confirmed that the iTunes Store is functioning and accepting connections. Therefore, the issue is likely related to your Internet connection, local network, or computer. I'm happy to provide some information that should help you connect to the iTunes Store again.
Error 3259 is a network timeout error. Sometimes this error can be caused by software on your computer that slows down the network connection. This error can also appear if you are downloading multiple items. I'd like to provide some steps that should help you successfully download your purchases.
It often helps to pause the download and then download items one at a time. These steps will walk you through doing this:
    1) Open iTunes.
    2) From the Store menu at the top, choose Check for Available Downloads. If you're unable to upgrade and are using iTunes 7, the option will say Check for Purchases.
    3) Enter your account name and password, then click Check. Your purchases should begin downloading.
    4) Under the STORE section on the left, click Downloads.
    5) Click the Pause All button in the lower-right corner. This will temporarily pause all of your downloads.
    6) To resume only one of the downloads, click the refresh button that appears to the right of one of the paused downloads.
Certain types of software can affect the way a computer sends and receives information from the Internet. Here are a few examples of these types of software:
    - Firewalls
    - Web accelerators
    - Ad filters
    - Virus protection software
If you have any of this kind of software installed on your computer, you will need to configure each of the applications to allow your internet connection to access iTunes freely. For instructions, please refer to the documentation that came with that software, or contact the software's manufacturer. You'll need to configure the software to allow these domains to send and receive data from the Internet freely:
    itunes.apple.com
    ax.itunes.apple.com
For assistance in configuring your firewall or accelerator software, you may need to contact the manufacturer or your Internet service provider (ISP). When contacting their support representatives, it may be useful to have the following information:
"Well Known" TCP and UDP Ports Used By Apple Software Products

The following article helps Windows users pinpoint software conflicts that could cause the error:
Using MSCONFIG to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292
Once you have managed to allow access to iTunes through other software, please follow these instructions:
    1) Sign out of the iTunes Store.
    2) Quit the iTunes application.
    3) Restart your computer.
    4) Open iTunes.
    5) Select Check for Available Downloads from the Store menu at the top of iTunes, (if you're unable to upgrade and are using iTunes 7, you'll choose Check for Purchases).
If you can't find this option, you can also click this link to do the same thing:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/checkForPurchases
    6) Enter your account name and password, then click Check. The missing item should begin downloading and appear in your Purchased playlist.
Please note that the iTunes Store cannot investigate every user's connection issue. Apple Discussions are another source of information about iTunes, where everyone from new users to professionals can interact and share their knowledge and experiences. You may find another user with the same operating system or ISP that may be able to help resolve this issue. You can find the iTunes discussions group at:

If you are using a dial-up connection, you might consider downloading your purchases over a broadband connection, if you have access to one.

is at&t dsl; the office T1 through at&t and at parents house is comcast
cable internet. my firewalls are clear and open in two locations (not the
office); the firewall is set up in DMZ mode which basically forwards all
requests to a certain computer via ip add or mac add. no mater what computer
what operating system i use that itunes is compatible with i get the error
of: unable to check for downloads network has timed out. I have tried it on
my Mac running Mac OS X; on my pc running vista 64-bit and on my mothers

  • My iTunes store won't connect

Every time i try to connect to the store it says that my connections have timed out....i think that it may be that i upgraded to iTunes 7 but i am not sure, i do know that before i upgraded everything was fine...i either want to know how to fix the network problem (which i have done everything the help center recamended) or how to get the original back.

Problems connecting to the iTunes Store often stem from issues with the Windows firewall or a firewall in a router, a privacy filter (such as McAfee Internet Privacy Service or Norton Internet Security), an antivirus/antispyware utility, or a download accelerator. Start here:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes Store Connection Troubleshooting
iTunes for Windows: Connection Issues when using Internet Filters, Accelerators, or Firewalls
Tunes for Windows could not establish a secure connection to the iTunes Store
iTunes for Windows: Possible iTunes Store Errors
for some basic tips to start isolating the cause of the problem. What you may need to do is temporarily disable any such service and see if that fixes the problem. If so, then if it's a firewall/Internet filter that's causing the problem and you'll need to set the offending service to allow iTunes to connect to the iTunes Store.
    Hope this helps.

  • My iTunes store won't connect to the internet

My network connection is working totally fine, but when I try to enter the store, it says "iTunes is unable to connect" and tells me to check my connections. I have a PC and the newest version of iTunes; I tried reinstalling iTunes and disabling/enabling my network connections, but it's not working. Help!

Do this and you should be up and running in no time. Reply back here after you do it and let us know if it worked for you...
You need to reset your winsock by running your command prompt as administrator.  In windows 7, click on your start menu, go to accessories, right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator".  Once it opens, type in the following command...
    netsh winsock reset
Hit enter and it should say something like winsock reset successful now reboot your computer.  Reboot and once you're back up your itunes should be able to access the store no problem.

this happened to me before but it fixed itself when i updated my software.
now it doesn't work again, it's not the firewall, because i've tried with it both on and off.
there are also no more updates to install.
i can't sign into my itunes account, and the error i get says the network connection time timed out or something.

  • ITunes Store won't connect to Apple ID

I got a iTunes gift card for Christmas, so I downloaded iTunes for my computer. For some reason, however, whenever I try to log in it tells me the Apple ID has "not yet been used for the iTunes Store" I'm not really used to this stuff, as I don't often use iTunes, but does anyone know how to fix that?

As Gail has said, anti-virus software can do this sort of thing. However, other software can as well, such as Little Snitch or "net nanny" software. Try starting up in Safe Mode and see if that makes a difference. If it does, you have some kind of third-party software installed that is blocking the connection.
If that's not it, try connecting from another network. It's possible there's something wrong with your network that is causing that connection to fail. If the connection to the store works on another network, you've got a problem with your network that will need to be addressed.
