My iTunes Video Library no longer streams to Apple TV

Hello, I have searched all over and cannot seem to find a resolution to my problem so if this has been answered, I apologize. Problem is I can no longer stream any sort of video stored in my iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my Apple TV. It used to work before without any issue.  Current iTunes version is 11.3.1 (2) and Apple TV software is 6.2. All my music plays just fine.  Whenever I bring up an artist or song on the TV and select it, it plays no problem. With regards to my music videos and home videos, I can see them on the TV (the thumbnail), however when I select it, all I get is the little circle in the middle of the TV that just spins and spins like its loading but nothing ever does.  Also, all my home videos, TV shows and music videos in iTunes on my MacBook open and play just fine on The MacBook.  So music streams to the Apple TV just fine, cannot get a single video to play from my laptop to my TV thru the Apple TV box. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

You can create a new account, but all of the purchases that you did on your existing account will remain tied to that account, so only that account can potentially redownload them, authorise them on a new computer's iTunes and download updates to its apps.
To reset the account's security questions and/or password, if you don't have access to the email account then contact Support in your country to get them reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security
If your country isn't on that page then try this form and explain and see what they reply with : https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
When they've been reset you can then update your primary email address and add a rescue email address for potential future use : Manage your Apple ID primary, rescue, alternate, and notification email addresses

How can I view my pictures that were backed up to iTunes? I no longer have an apple product but need to view the pictures for very important reasons.

If you mean backed up as part of an iPhone backup in iTunes?  If so, you would have to use 3rd party software to extract them from the backup, such as iPhone Backup Extractor.

  • HT3819 My iMac had a corrupt seagate HD that had to be replaced my imovie files & itunes video library are missing when I picked up my Mac from Apple?

I purchased my 27" iMac in October 2010 after attending classes we discovered my computer needed new graphics card, hard drive, and a total rebuild after owning it only 6 months. Apple rebuilt my new computer, several months later same issues began yet again, slowly Apple began replacing defective parts they installed, my computer still hasn't worked as it should and has been in and out of Apple all the time sometimes they keep it for weeks! running tests?? February 10, 2013 I took my imac back in because it has been taking upwards of 6 minutes to make 1 single edit in imovie after 6 days of editing my project I could No Longer save in itunes, external HD, or export my imovie videos (they are 4 min up to 20 min max) Apple informed me that my Hard Drive was corrupt a bad batch of Seagate HD had been installed and my computer was again affected by this and it needed to be replaced and they couldn't get it to respond at all my itunes library was missing, etc. We saved my videos on my external HD I brought in with me. The Genius bar said they would call me in 3-5 days for me to pick up my computer. 9 Days later not hearing back from them I went in to get an update February 19, 2013 No one can tell me what was done except my HD was replaced they can't answer my questions about my itunes library being reinstated or my videos, music is missing, podcasts, etc. I was even using icloud, empty? They tell me IF I find anything wrong or not working again to just bring it back.  My iMovie videos ALL the edits are missing ? I can't find ANY of my videos in my itunes my Library is empty as it is in imovie except for 2 videos? HELP! I can't imagine having to re-edit my entire video with sound effects, fronts, graphics, etc. I spent weeks on this :-( I'm at my wits end with my iMac.... I have searched in my previous itunes library EMPTY ! Waaaah! I want my mommy....

The Apple Store is not responsible for data loss and generally does not do any backups of your data before performing any repairs, though in some cases, as seems to be the case in yours, they guide you to making your own backup. Here's what they say on the "getting service page" (when I've taken a system in for service a similar statement was presented to me when I agreed to the service):
Many repairs require Apple to replace or reformat the hard disk, which will result in the loss of your data. Please make sure you back up your data on a regular basis to minimize your data loss. Learn more about backup options. Apple and Apple Authorized Service Providers are not responsible for any damage to or loss of any applications, data, or other information stored on your Mac desktop while performing service.
Since you say that you backed up your videos before the drive was replaced, why can you not just restore them? And did you not back up anything else?
If you didn't make any sort of backup of your other data prior to taking the iMac in for service, then sorry but your data is almost certainly gone. Regular reliable backups are a must, particularly when dealing with content you spend a lot of time creating. You may be able to re-download any content you purchased from the iTunes Store or Mac App Store, but anything else you'll have to recreate or re-obtain from the original source.

  • Adobe Video Library no longer accessible

I'm using CS3 Design Premium, and after I recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.5.5 on my Mac Pro, I was no longer able to access the Adobe Video Library/Lynda.com training videos. I haven't tried it from other CS3 apps, but from InDesign when I click on Help, go to a topic, and click on a video link, it comes up and the progress bar appears to "progress," but nothing happens when I go to actually play it. I can't even click on the "background" window showing all the applications and lists of videos for each one. That becomes all grayed out.
Does anyone have an idea of what might be happening and how to fix the situation?? I'd appreciate any suggestions.
    Terry

Because Adobe uses Flash technology for all its videos, I'd reinstall the Flash Player. Here's a link to the latest version:

  • ITunes 8.2 no longer sees 2 Apple TV devices until...

    Hello,
I've seen many posts over the months about people having problems getting their Apple TV to connect with iTunes. Until this morning I thought that I must just have things "set up right."
I updated to iTunes 8.2 shortly after it was released. I don't know how long my two Apple TVs have not been showing up in the sidebar. This morning I noticed it because I bought some songs off the iTMS and was unable to right-click on my main music Apple TV (a 160 GB model). The 40 GB one connected to my HDTV is also AWOL. They both were still in my Apple TV Preferences panel and both said "Syncing" in the status column. Both Apple TVs still have network access as does the iMac. I have an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station with Gigabit Ethernet.
Here's everything I tried, in order:
    1) Restarted my 24" aluminum iMac with iTunes 8.2 and OS 10.5.7
    2) Pulled the plug (i.e. rebooted) both Apple TVs
    3) Told iTunes to "forget" both Apple TVs.
    4) Told the 160 GB Apple TV to "forget" my iMac's iTunes.
    5) Updated the AEBS to the latest firmware (7.4.1)
    6) Told the 160 GB Apple TV to connect to an iTunes and noted the 5-digit access code. iTunes on two different computers running 10.5.7 and iTunes 8.2 fail to see the Apple TV in the Preferences panel. The "Look for Apple TVs" checkbox is enabled.
    7) Restore factory defaults on the 160 GB ATV and reattach to the network. Step 6 failed again, same symptoms.
    8) Downloading the latest ATV software to update the 160 GB ATV again. Repeat step 6.
Now, miraculously, both devices appear in the sidebar in the un-set up state with the name "Apple TV." Great. I get to resync 100 GB of music and video. That ought to saturate my poor network for a couple days. I hope this never happens again but somehow I suspect that I have joined the significant percent of ATV users with problems like this.
    Feh.

  • ITunes 7.4 Crashes When Streaming to Apple TV!

I installed installed iTunes 7.4 yesterday and it now crashes every time I try to stream to my Apple TV. Syncing seems to work fine from the same computer but have a spinning beachball on iTunes, a spinning wheel on Apple TV, and then an eventual force quit on iTunes anytime I try to stream.
I have rebooted my mac and the Apple TV with no result. I am reinstalling iTunes now and will report if this fixes the problem.

If this was occurring in a much greater number of cases where there was a consistent theme to the problem then I might well agree with you, but the numbers are extremely small, there is no obvious pattern at all and in cases where such problems have been solved the solutions are often entirely different. I wouldn't entirely rule out a software based issue but this seems very unlikely and I believe there is little chance of resolving matters while you continue to assume this.

  • ITunes iCloud Match no longer streaming music from iMac?

I use match and icloud and very recently my itunes on my imac showed all the songs grey'd out. I can't play them from the imac, but I can as expected from my ipad and iphones. All of my library has been matched, but anything that points to icloud won't play on my imac any longer. For months this setup, which I followed from posts here worked great. Something recently has changed. Anything I double click on to play just selects it in a manner to allow editing the name. Clicking play does nothing. Other locally stored audio works fine, and streamed radio works fine.

Thanks for the input. Turning off match and back on, didn't help last time. But tonight I turned it off and logged out of iTunes and back into my apple id iTunes account. When i went to turn match back on, it asked me if I wanted to include this computer. Which is odd, but I did it, and now everything plays as expected and as it did before.
    Thanks
quitting itunes and restarting didn't help
quitting match and restarting didn't help
quitting match and logging out of itunes and then logging back in and starting match again resolved.
Don Eccles - I double checked and Parental Controls didn't get turned on, but thanks for the idea.

  • TS2972 Itunes Library will not stream to apple TV

I can find my itunes library on my apple TV, but it will not stream. it just continues to buffer, and does not load the movie. Is there a way to fix this? Everything used to work just fine before today.

    Solution:
I had the same problem.  Apple TV worked, because I could stream the BBC iplayer from my iPad, it was just iTunes that was the problem.  However, I just downloaded the latest Apple TV update and bingo!

  • Shared iTunes library won't stream on Apple TV

I'm using a Time Capsule (connected via Ethernet to my DSL modem) + Airport Express (to extend my network). Everything is working quite well and Apple TV is connected to my iTunes as a shared library so I can watch streamed movies on my TV (I'm not interested in syncing content to the Apple TV). One problem: the movies won't stream. I get a black TV screen with a progress bar on the bottom, and more often than not this will hang at 00:00, or the blue line will start to progress across agonizingly slowly (I come back a half hour later and it's 1/3 of the way across for a 30 min. program) and the actual show will never begin to play.
What gives? I tried restarting my computer and resetting the Apple TV, but the problem persists. I just can't stream.
I'm running the latest versions of Mac OS, iTunes, and Apple TV, BTW.
    TIA for suggestions!

I decided to do a factory restore to see if that would solve the problem. Everything went fine and the Apple TV joined my network just fine. However, the software was again V1 so I went to Update Software and chose to download the latest version. The wheel has been turning on "Downloading Software" for almost 2 hours! There is no way to see how fast it's downloading or how much progress there is.
I'm really starting to think that Apple TV is having a major bandwidth problem but I have no clue what to do about it. The 3 other computers on the network have normal speeds (and only one other is running, but not doing any bandwidth-hogging activities), so it's not the actual network, just Apple TV's connection. What could be causing this?

  • Itunes content cutting off while streaming to apple tv

After the 4.2.2 software update, my Apple TV suddently stops playing any type of media from my iTunes library (video or audio). It has not affected Netflix streaming or Youtube at all. The cutoff is seamingly random; sometimes it plays almost all the way through and then cuts off, sometimes it only plays for a few seconds and cuts off. When the media stops, the Apple TV goes to the main menu and does not show the album art across the top. I don't believe it is a networking issue because my Apple TV is using the ethernet cable. After this issue began, I started using my MBP and Airplay to play the media and have absolutely no issues. This never happened before i ran the update.

Same irritating issues with a couple new twists:
My system worked perfectly fine until the last update (4.2.2), here is a recap of my issues in case anyone has found similar challenges and a 'miracle cure'
Now when I launch Apple TV,  it will only play one song, quit playing and tosses me to the movie tab. If I go back to the 'computer' tab, reload my library select a song - it will play randomly.
The random selection has also been affected.....over the last 4 days every time I try 'random selection' it has limited itself to only 15-20 CD's and it's been the same cd's that keep appearing each day.  I have thousands in the system - this is also a new issue.
I tell it to play an entire downloaded I-Tunes cd, it tells me there is no content..so I have to manually start the cd but it will only play one song, I now need to manually move it to the next song.  It won't even shuffle within a selected CD
The update messed up the shuffle command, now I can't turn it Off.
I called the Apple Help(less) desk and they would NOT admit there are issues...After all the enjoyment I've had with this product this is very frustrating

  • ITunes match library isn't appearing on Apple TV

The only music that appears on my Apple TV are songs purchased from iTunes, anything else does not appear.  Not sure if it matters, but home sharing IS turned on, on both the Apple TV and my Macbook and I'm signed in to the same iTunes account on both...Not sure what I can do at this point to force the library to show up.

    If the problem persists:
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

  • Why can I no longer stream my Apple movie collection?

In iTunes 10. I was able to see my entire movie library in my movies section, and even watch them without downloading them to my pc. Since v11 and on I have not been able to do this. Since my movie collection with Apple is insanely huge, I found this a great way to watch movies since I have no where near the HD space to have them all downloaded.
    My question is twofold.
    Why did you change this?
How can I get this ability back?
This is my first post. Please relocate if I have placed in the incorrect spot.

Under the view menu chech show title?

  • Video will no longer play, cannot add video content either.

Since this afternoon, iTunes video will no longer play. Not movies, not TV shows. I checked and music and podcasts still play. I thought it might be a conflict between purchased video vs video I added from my DVDs, but no such luck. Purchased content will not play. Nor can I add any new video, whereas I added a new TV show episode this morning.
If I go into the iTunes LIbrary file and select a video and choose "Play with Quicktime" the video plays just fine. But if I select "Play with iTunes" nothing happens. At all. Not even an error code. It's like I didn't select anything. If I try to add content by the keystroke "command O" and choose the file … again, nothing. No error. Just no response at all. When I open that file on my computer, select "Play with Quicktime", then choose "Share with iTunes" inside Quicktime I do finally get an error. "This file cannot be shared (error 206)". I looked up this error code and found this: "The filename or extension is too long." This does not make sense. The file names are fine and the extensions are exactly what I always use to add content to iTunes.
So it's like the entire video portion of iTunes has ceased to function. Any clues?
    iTunes 10.4.1
    OS 10.6.3

There are a g-zillion posts sharing your problem... but still no answer from Apple. The odd thing is that it is not affecting all of us.
I share your problem and it's doing my head in... if somebody mentions the 5 bloody R's again...!!!
Before updating to 1.2, ask yourself... how bad do you you really want Tetris????

  • HT4363 I can no longer stream my iTunes into my Apple TV. Help!

I can no longer stream my iTunes into my Apple TV.  It has worked before, but Apple TV is not recognizing my iTunes library any longer.  It keeps telling me to make sure it's turned on on my computer.  It is.  And yes, the accounts match, etc.  But it no longer recognizes my iTunes library.  I can play all the stuff purchased through iTunes fine.  I just can stream my main library any longer.  Very very frustrated.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you tried restarting the router, the Apple TV and iTunes.
