My itunes will not open on my computer! I've uninstalled/re-installed my intunes 10.4 and quicktime countless of times, and nothing is working. Everytime I try to open my itunes it says "Quicktime error 2096", then tells me to reinstall itunes. Help?!...
Title pretty much sums it up. I'm getting very frustrated. I've tried turning off the compatability of my Quicktime, and nothing is changed. Can anyone figure out the problem? I can't find an answer anywhere.
Yea i got that same message to Quicktime failed to initialize (error-2096) Quicktime is required to run itunes.Please reinstall itunes, which i did so many times which did'nt work and so i started reading some of the articles on this site. there was one article i read which says right click on quicktimeplayer and click on properties then click compatibilty tab and deselect checkbox or boxes but i only deseleted one box which reads windows vista .windows 2000 or 95 or whatever so i did that opened up itunes again and still i got the same error message then i started thinkin i wonder if i should do the same thing on the itunes player click on properties, click compatibilty tab then deselect box so i did. Open up itunes hey hey presto it open up alrighty only problem i lost all my music but lucklie at backed them up on another hardrive, on my ipod & Cds...Hopefully this will help you out or anyone else...

My computer is saying that I am not in the US and so I am unable to view shows, Youtube, etc. I've gone under the location settings and put US several times but nothing has worked. What should I do?
It may not be your computer telling you this, it is probably the company providing the shows to you over the Internet. If that is the case, no setting on your computer can change it because the media company is going by your network address (IP address), which is where your Internet modem (cable or DSL) connects to the outside Internet. If the location of your Internet connection appears to be outside the US (even if it is mistake), media companies that distribute shows under contracts with geographical restrictions may lock you out.
If you use a service like a VPN service, you may have the ability to use IP addresses from other countries so that you can appear to be connecting from there. But it takes some setting up. -
please help i need to fix my itunes it will not launch on my computer . no error message appears it simply will not run. the icon on desktop has changed to a white folder and it still appears in programmes in start menu but will not open. it appears in task manager but disappears when the programme will not open
You music etc should not be affected by problems with the iTunes program, nevertheless it is always a good idea to backup your data.
You haven't said if there was any error message when you tried to start iTunes. If there was one please give it in full.
Also check to see if QuickTime works, iTunes can not work without it. If QuickTime doesn't work, it has to be fixed before worrying about iTunes.
Then restart your PC and open your Task manger and select the Processes tab.
Try to start iTunes, does iTunes.exe appear on the processes tab? If so does it disappear again or remain although the programs does not open? -

I performed an upgrade a while back to my iTunes software. Every since then it will not open even though it says it is running in my task manager. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling a hundred times with no luck so far. I recently went to the iTunes support page and found a thread that I thought would solve my problem (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302386). I followed the steps and deleted the file with no success. I have tried to start it without my firewall and Norton completely shut down and this did not work either. I am really frustrated and could use some help.
I know it sounds nuts, but it has helped probably 30 or more pple in the last day or two alone.
There is a version of malware going around causing iTunes to not open. It started showing up sometime in October. Its a bear, but Ewido seems to be removing it for pple to open iTunes -

I used to have itunes on my computer. It asked me to do an update. Now it will not open on my computer. Its giving me an error.
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components; this won't affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I have tried multiple cables, multiple computers and it appears to be dead. When I went to the Apple Store they tried to sell me a new one.....not what I wanted. I asked about a new battery but was told no. How do I retrieve the data on my I Pod??? Cannot even look into resetting it because it will not power on at all.

Hi there, to authorize a computer, you open up itunes, and at the very very top lefthand corner, there will be a little window. Click on that, and it will present you with a list of options. From there, you go to the third option down, which says "Itunes Store," hover over it with your mouse, and it will give you another set of options. From there, you can see the two options, "Authorize" an "Deauthorize computer. Just click on "Authorize," enter in your apple ID and password, and your computer will be authorized!
