My iTunes won't authorize songs i can't re Donwnload

i recently had the hard drive on my iMac die. lost EVERYTHING. now I'm trying to put all the music on my iPad back onto this new hard drive. one problem, every single piece of data that i didn't download from iTunes won't go into it. it keeps asking me to "authorize my account' when I've already de authorized all devices and re did it all. its just music and stuff that i downloaded or have hard copies of that i don't anymore. so i need a way to get all these songs OFF of the iPad and into my iTunes or at least into the computer. can anyone help me? i just downloaded the newest versions of iTunes and the driver for my iPad, I'm hoping that changes something, though i doubt it will. I'm sure it says in fine print in the user agreement that they don't have to let unlicensed music or files into their program. if thats the case, I'm never buying another apple device as long as i live.

Deauthorizing won't delete anything, and all your purchased content is safe.  You will just have to reauthorize any of the other computers that get deauthorized along with your computers old machine id.
To get your purchased content back on that computer, just use iTunes to redownload it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US).  Of course, music you ripped from CD or got from another source you'll need to copy those files back over.

  • My iTunes won't sync and I can't download an app onto my iPhone 4S. It's been really bad since the update!

    Hi,
    Two problems here guys
    1. My iTunes won't sync. Since the update to iTunes 11 it refuses to transfer purchaces from my iPhone 4S and won't put stuff from my phone into my iTunes library and I can't put anything on my phone through my laptop. Both the laptop and the phone say that they are syncing but nothing actually happens
    2. As the Avengers Initiative app is currently free I decided to try and download it straight on to my phone, but every time I try it says I don't have enough memory, even though I deleted stuff especially so I could download this and I now have 3.6 GB free, so I downloaded it on to my iTunes on my computer, but of course my iTunes won't sync
I've reinstalled iTunes twice and it hasn't worked!
    Somebody help please

Same problem, any assistance would be appreciated.
    thanks

  • ITunes won't play song, even though pause button appears

Recently my iTunes has stopped playing songs. If I click the play button, the pause button appears but the progress bar does not move and no sound is made. The volume on my computer is fine as I can still watch videos on youtube and such. I've recently updated to the lastest iTunes and am not sure whether the songs played find after that or not. I read that it could be a probably with quicktime but I've deleted that and downloaded it again but that did not help.
    Please help me!

I noticed today I am having the same problem. Song would not play in Ver. 9.1.0 and 9.1.1. Same song plays fine in another media player. Also seeing the same that al0022 is seeing, my play button changes to a pause button, and my progress bar does not move. I am able to navigate around iTunes until I try to play a song then I have to kill the task.
I had a Windows update performed yesterday, and believe the windows update is the cause of the problem.
Anyone else unable to play after Windows updates were performed?

  • ITunes won't play song all the way through

I purchased a song from the iTunes store and when I try to play it in iTunes, it plays the first 20 seconds of the song and then skips to the next song. Can this be fixed?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Itunes won't open. Says can't find the folder

    Hi,
I could install Itunes and Quicktime, I already tried the msconfig solutions but it doesn't work. I have a ipod with video and I can't get it to work because itunes won't open.
It displays the license agreement and after I agree it displays error message "Can't find itunes folder or can't be created and is needed for Itunes to work. This is normally located under My music folder".
I tried to create manually the folder, and still doesn't work.
Can you help me with this or tell me if I can use another application to transfer video and photos to my Ipod?

This error prevents iTunes from launching. The library file was modified to work with the newer iTunes version, so it is no longer compatible with the previous version. The good news, however, is that Apple does backup the iTunes library file into a subdirectory that you can use to revert back to the previous version.
To recover a previous version of the iTunes Library.itl file, use the following steps:
Open up your My Documents\My Music folder.
We will first backup the current version. Rename iTunes Library.itl to something like iTunes Library.itl.bak.
Go into the My Documents\My Music\Previous iTunes Libraries folder.
You may see several files that start with iTunes Library and have a date included in the name. Copy the newest file in the folder.
Go back to the My Documents\My Music and paste the file from the previous step.
Rename the new copied file to iTunes Library.itl.
Your library should now be restored to the previous version of iTunes, and you should no longer receive the message.

  • Upgraded to latest Itunes - won't recognize songs in my external drive?

I recently upgraded to the latest Itunes. I store all my music on an external hard drive. Now I can't seem to get the Itunes library to pull songs from the hard drive - getting the message "The song __ could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" I didn't have this problem before. I tried importing the songs from the hard drive but now my library has doubled and I'm still having problems launching music. Anyone have any input? Thanks in advance.

No, my problem is when I open iTunes, none of my tunes are there because the new iTunes 8.1 looks into my hard drive iTunes for the library and it's blank. when I use preferences/advanced and choose "change" and attempt to select the library from my external drive, it's greyed out . . . not accessible.

  • ITunes won't update/install? Can't open?

When I try opening iTunes from the bottom tool bar where I have iTunes pinned it says the file can't be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes,
But when I try opening it from my downloads it says a later version of iTunes is already installed.
    How do I fix this?

Click here and follow the instructions.

  • So annoyed. iTunes won't authorize CERTAIN songs after upgrading computer.

Ok, so I recently upgrading my computer from a Macbook OS X to a Macbook Pro and now it seems that I can't authorize certain songs, I have two accounts: my current account, and my old account, which is the one that I can't authorize. I've tried everything from re-downloading iTunes, to deleting the SC folder, but to no avail.
The thing that really annoys me, is that when it asks me to authorize the song, it tells me "this computer is already authorized" Ok, good, it's authorized, but then I go to play the song again, it tells me again that my computer isn't authorized! It's like a vicious cycle that never ceases to annoy me. So in short, my computer lets me play some songs from my old itunes account, but won't let me authorize others. Help, please, is there anything I'm missing or doing wrong?

contact _*iTunes Store Customer Service*_ and explain your problem.

  • ITunes won't add songs to my iphone/adds them but they don't actually add?

Ok, so I keep trying to add songs to my iPhone, and half of them just appear greyed out with the circle next to them, and no matter how many times i sync, they won't ever add. Then, out of the songs that do add randomly, most of them don't appear on my iPhone and when I try to play them on iTunes (in the iPhone playlist) an exclamation mark appears next to them (so they didn't actually add, but they're in my iTunes library so I don't understand why it "can't find" the songs when I add them to my iPhone). As a result, out of 433 songs I've been trying for 2 hours to add to my iPhone, only 14 actually show up on my iPhone. All the songs that have added AND actually showed up on my phone and played are songs that I've purchased from iTunes, so I'm not sure what that's about. Oh, I also had like 50 songs on my phone before I tried adding all the new ones earlier, and when I started adding new music, all the previous songs that were on my phone disappeared from my phone and have exclamation marks next to them in my phone's itunes playlist. Can someone explain what's going on with iTunes?

Disconnect your iPod from your computer.  Close iTunes and re-open.  Connect the iPod cable to a different usb port, re-connect and fingers crossed the error will go away (happened to me on Sunday and doing the above resolved).

  • Itunes won't authorize on my Mac?

Every time I try to purchase music or apps it refuses stating that it can't authorize because it's already 'authorized to 5 computers on this account.' Only glitch? That account is authorized to just TWO computers. So frustrating. Help me please!

Your iTunes Store account has been 'hacked' (not exactly the proper term as it is APPLE having been hacked, not you). "They" do that along with slightly altering your profile data so that you soon cant block them from continuing theft. Its 'their' pre emptive blocking move on YOU.
I think 'they' add several of 'their' own computers so you dont use an open, freely available authorization key to go in, make changes, clear out all unknown authorized computers and stop them once you detect them stealing from you. Only Apple technically can add/subtract computers without your permission, along with the hackers.
Change your password and security questions right away (if you still can) then go into your account if the hackers havent changed your log in info on you already and see what, if any, unwarranted and unexpected purchases you have 'made' without your knowledge. Its in your purchase history that you should look and see what songs, apps, books, etc. and make sure nothing unknown is in there.
Apple distinctly says at the bottom of page one of the iTunes EUA that it is absolutely NOT responsible for any unauthorized purchases made with your account. This includes refunding for the hacker/middleman intercept/whatever is being used to compromise the hundreds of thousands of accounts so far.
Look also for 'itunes account hacked' here in the support forums to get an idea how many a day are still reporting current money theft via credit card, debit card, paypal and gift cards associated with their accounts.
I would suggest removing all your payment information as well and chose NONE as the payment option under the payment info. tab of your profile, ASAP. It means that if you want to buy ANYTHING in the future you have to input your number, make the purchase(s) and then go back after confirmation of purchase and remove your CC info again, but atleast you wont have lost any money in the process to fraudsters and thieves.
It appears Apple cant/wont/isnt doing anything about the problem. The thread gains another dozen or so compromised accont stories every day... and thats only the people who know about these forums or where to complain/write/mention their losses.

  • ITunes Won't Authorize for Automatic Downloads & Account Information Viewing

    Hi,
So I've been having a problem signing into iTunes for the last few days now. First off, I've isolated the problem to my MacBook Pro and verified that Mac OS X/iTunes were both up to date. I've reinstalled iTunes and restarted. I've tried re-athorizing my computer for the Store. I've tried reseting my network configuration by deleting the NetworkInterfaces.plist. I've even tried deleting the SC Info folder. Nothing has worked. At all. What is happening is that whenever I go to authorize Automatic Downloads or to view my Account in the iTunes Store, it just keeps prompting me without ever signing in. I can see the progress bar moving to signify it's attempting to connect but it always fails to do so. Oddly enough and despite not being able to update my apps, it's actually somehow updated a few of them. Could this perhaps be a case of my ISP not having the correct ports open? At this point, I really don't know what else it could be. Anyway, this is just becoming more and more frustrating by the day. Please help!

Let me guess: you changed hardware or did major system changes? Like Windows needs to be activated again after such changes, iTunes needs too. Just deauthorise the PC and authorise again, should fix the problem.

  • Itunes won't open and I can't share music

    OK
I have an emac 10.3.9. I have an external drive where I keep my music.
I was trying to find my shared library on my labtop that is connected to the same network. I can find other people's libraries. I can't find the emac library.
Now it just won't open. When I throw out my library file then it will. But this is the second time I have had to do it. Pain in the ***.

See this post if My Music is not in the list of special folders in TweakUI:

ALternatively you may be able to work round this by doing a shift key start.
Hold down the shift key and start iTunes, keep holding the shift key until you are asked to choose a library. Navigate to your iTunes folder and choose iTunes Library.itl. You can create a library if you don't already have one.
