My itunes won't open on my computer since last update

My itunes won't open after my roomate installed latest update... Any suggestions?? I don't want to lose all my content.

Think of iTunes as a CD player that's broken. Just because you broke your CD player (or replaced it, as reinstalling implies) doesn't mean that you don't still have all of your CDs. They're two different things stored in two different places. The music is all in tact in the iTunes Music folder while iTunes sits broken in the Applications folder.
Mine is broken too. Supposedly deleting the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file will fix this problem. It works for most people. Just do a spotlight search for it.

    1. First check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    2. If that fails, refer to following article to remove SC Info.lib file:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    3. If that fails, repair your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

  • Itunes won't open on my computer. I uninstalled it, turned off the computer, rebooted, and re-installed but when I click onto the "itunes" icon nothing happens. When I plug in my iphone or ipod nothing happens as well?? HELP PLEASE.

Itunes will not open. I click onto the icon and it does nothing. I've uninstalled it twice and still nothing. Rebooted and nothing. I plug my iphone as well as my ipod and still nothing happens. Help please.

I, too, am having a serious problem with my iTunes.
It shows that iTunes is taking up usage on my computer but there is no error message when I try to open it. Nothing even happens. iTunes does not come up and I am searching for a possible answer.
We recently had a power outage but we got power back Sunday and when we did iTunes stopped working. Before this incident iTunes usually worked and when it didn't a simple re-start was used to fix it. However now I have tried that several times and it is not working.

  • ITunes won't open on my computer...

Running Windows 7. Have been using iTunes without issue for quite some time but it has decided to cease functioning for the past few days. It will open on OCCASION after initial startup of my computer but typically locks up and I'm forced to end process after it being open for 30 seconds or less. When I end the process, iTunes still shows up in my processes window, so I'm not sure it actually ever ends (which is probably why it will never reopen).
I have tried some fixes after googling around including updating quicktime and itunes to their most recent versions. It was also recommended that I disable bonjour and that just ended in an error message so I re-enabled it. None of these things have solved that problem. I'm wary about a clean uninstall and reinstall of itunes because the Apple support on this site says you shouldn't really do that unless advised to because it can wipe out your entire library. That being said I'm pretty desperate for help on this issue. I'm kind of surprised how prevalent the threads on "iTunes just won't run anymore" is in the forums and yet how I still can't seem to find a fix. By the way, I'm BRAND NEW to Windows. Been a Mac user since the early 90's so if you tell me to do something within my OS, you're probably going to have to guide me on how to get there within Windows. Thanks!

top fixes for a new iTunes install/upgrade are
    - turning off security software such as Norton before the install as Apple suggests
    - installing QuickTime standalone, not regular
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
    - setting up Norton to allow iTunes
    - scanning for malware with ewido (Free at www.ewido.net/en/)
    - last but not least, using MSCONFIG to find Windows conflicts

  • ITunes won't open on my computer, windows 7

Hi, so basically for the past few days I have been trying to open iTunes.
I click on it and it acts as though it is about to open and then just doesn't run at all.
The process comes up when I have Task Manager open, but goes away after a few seconds.
I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, repairing itunes and quicktime, updating both programs, deleting all files after following a tutorial to uninstall all apple programs, then reinstalled, still nothing.
I have tried changing the compatability type, that did not work.
Then, I saw somewhere saying that I should create a new user on my computer and open it there, so i did and it opened fine. I switched users and logged in as myself and tried to open itunes and a message came up saying that I needed to close the other user's itunes first, so i did that, then came back onto mine AGAIN and tried to open it and it just didn't, again.
I have looked through so many discussions and tutorials and nothing will help.

In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

  • ITunes won't open because of computer settings

I'm trying to install iTunes on my boss' computer so we can access his work-related iPad/iPhone app purchases. We keep getting the error "The iTunes application could not be opened. The disk you are attempting to use is full."
This error made no sense to me because his hard drive has over 200GB free. I finally figured out that iTunes automatically creates folders in "My Documents" that it needs in order to open.
The problem is that on campus, "My Documents" is universally mapped to an individual network drive - NOT the C drive. And this drive is too full to support iTunes.
I tried manually moving the folder over to the C drive, but iTunes automatically recreates the folder on the networked drive when I try to open it.
How can I change where iTunes does this when I can't access iTunes at all?

I tried manually moving the folder over to the C drive, but iTunes automatically recreates the folder on the networked drive when I try to open it.
Okay. Try instead creating a new library on your C drive, using the instructions in the following document:

  • ITunes won't open after recent computer repairs

I have an old iMac G3. Recently it refused to boot up, so I took it to a tech guy who saved the stuff I had on the hard drive to an external drive (a 500GB Lacie d2 quadra). He then restored the iMac. When I try to open iTunes I get a message that says, "The file 'iTunes Library' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." I have tried to move the iTunes application that is on the external hard drive (which seems to be a different version than the one on my computer) to my computer's hard drive. Each time it seems to work, but then I can't open iTunes. When I click on the icon nothing happens. What happened to the version of iTunes that is compatible with the files in my iTunes library? How can I figure out what version of iTunes I need, and where can I get it? Thanks.

  • App won't open on my sgn2 since latest update. it simply says 'unfortunately, PS Touch has stopped.' is there anything I must do to fix the issue?'

Tried restarting my phone several times. Every other app works fine... seems to be a PS Touch app issue. It started right after the updated.

  • Cannot open word document anymore since last update.

I have a Macbook Air, bought in july 2013. I've done all the updates as suggested. But since the last one I suddenly cannot open certain files that were mailed to me. On my Iphone I can still read them. Every time I try to open a word document in my mail, it's not opening, and I get the suggestion to buy I Works.
I am not very good at understanding why this suddenly happens, and what I can do to be able to open the file.
It's not a problem if I do need to buy this new software I works, but which one should I buy then?
I hope someone can explain to me what I need to do, hopefully in an understandeble way, thanks!!
    Mrtj

I believe I understand now. You "upgraded" from OS X 10.6.x Snow Leopard to OS X 10.9x Mavericks when you bought the MBA, didn't you? And now your copy of MS Office 2004, which I suspect was copied over from your previous computer, no longer works. Look in the /Applications folder and see if there is a folder for Microsoft Office and see if there is a year in the name.
    You have three choices.
    1. You can purchase the most recent version of MS Office. This will ensure full document compatibility across platforms.
    2. You can purchase Pages from the Mac App Store, which will allow you to open edit and save Word files. Although it is not a seamless process and documents with complex formatting and/or tables might not preserve their attributes when opened in Pages.
    3. You can download and install an open source office replacement such as Libre Office or Open Office. Although the same caveats apply as with Pages.

  • ITunes won't open. It says language needs to be changed to English???

iTunes won't open on my computer. It says "This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language.  Please run the English version." I don't know how the language could have ever gotten changed from English to begin with. iTunes won't even let me in to change any of the settings. I can't get past the error message.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
