Why won't my computer recognize my new ipod touch?

I have just been through this world of pain. dont bother re-installing itunes, or trawling through device drivers.
Instead, make sure you turn off bluetooth and wireless. Unplug your network cable from the pc (assuming you have a LAN connection).
Try plugging in the touch and it should be recognised straight away.

  • My iTunes won't recognize my new iPod nano 5th generation

Alright, my parents got my the new iPod nano for Christmas, and when I connected it to my Windows Vista, to charge and sync, it was charged, but it was not recognized in iTunes. I tried updating and the 5R's but it wouldn't work. iTunes is acting like it doesn't exist. Help?

I had a similar issue with a XP machine. The Nano charged but I never got the onscreen setup instructions and Itunes did not list the device. I tried a lot of technical stuff with no luck and finally spoke with an Apple Expert.
Here was the fix for me:
I downloaded Itunes to another computer (also XP, same firewall, etc). Plugged in the Nano and miraculously I was able to set it up, name the device and also update it with the latest software. When I plugged it back into the PC it recognized it just fine. Must be something flukey with the setup or maybe the update helped fix a few bugs.
If you have other computers available, try it on them first with latest Itunes version. Hope this helps.

  • Itunes won't recognize my new ipod

I gave my cousin a new 3rd gen nano. Itunes is fine but the device simply shows an ipod and brings up the agreement. the choice is 'save' or 'cancel.' cancel does nothing and save sends me to a save as a doc. i've updated both itunes and ipod software and reset everything yet nothing seems to work.
    help!

Your screen resolution may be preventing you from seeing the entire agreement screen to pick the button to agree.
So change your screen resolution to something like 1024 or larger and then see if you can see all the buttons in the agreement. Agree to it, then you can resize your screen resolution back to what it was before.

  • I have an older Ipod Touch, I bought a new one and the Itunes on my computer is too old to recognize my new Ipod Touch and cannot be updated.  Is there a creditable software program I can use to get all my old music from my old iPod Touch to the new one?

I have an older iPod Touch, I bought a new one and the Itunes on my computer is too old to recognize my new iPod Touch and Itunes cannot be updated.  Is there a creditable software program I can use to get all my old music from my old iPod Touch to the new one?  It is my understanding that the music cannot be saved onto my new iTunes, b/c I did not have iCloud. I have over 2,000 songs I just cannot part with. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help some how!!  THANKS!

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?

updated itunes to 11.3 on win 7 but had problems. so reinstalled itunes 11.2 but now itunes won't recognize or sync my touch 3 with 5.1.  did all the recommended fixes, appears have correct driver, all necessary itunes programs, etc.  still won't work.  help!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • ITunes won't recognize my new router

    http://www.linksysbycisco.com/EU/en/products/WRT54GL
I recently set up this router at my house and so far it's been working great with the only issue being me having to push the router reset button everytime I turn on my computer after having stopped using the router for awhile.
Problem is that even if I am connected to the internet, itunes doesn't recognize my new connection and because of this it won't connect to the store/internet. I have found no setting to choose an internet.

Thanks for the help, and I agree I don't like having to push the rest button but I didn't really know where to go for help
Here's the test results...I took out my IP address because I can't help but feel that's not something I should pos ton the internet. Something I noticed before but forgot about was that if I click on the itunes store it actually loads the store...even though itunes says it can't connect.

  • ITunes recognizes my new iPod Touch 5G as if it were my iPad Retina

I bought a newiPod Touch 5g.  I already own a couple older iPod Classics and a realtively new iPad Retina.  I run iTunes on a Windows XP SP3 machine.
When I plug in the new iPod Touch 5g iTunes recognizes it as my iPad Retina.  I've tried the usual starting and stopping Apple Mobile and Ipod Services with no luck, as well as rebooting, closing and opening iTunes, etc.
    At my wits end!

Solved one problem:  the iPad was showing up because it had "Sync via WiFi" clicked.  Once I turned that off, that issue was solved.
Problem is more genertic now.  Windows sees the iPod as a camera only.  Tried all the problem solving steps in other threads with no luck, including rebooting.
iTunes sees my iPad and an old iPod Classic, but not the new one.
So is my last resort is to uninstall and reinstall iTunes?
THanks so much for your help.

I bought a new iPhone and already have an Apple ID & Password & iTune account. When I plugged my new iPhone I kept getting a "AppleMobileDeviceHelper" error messages. They keep popping out. Plus iTune won't recognize my Apple ID (I don't want a new one, since it has the payment info and all). Anyone can help?

  • My comp won't recognize my new ipod.

I just got a new ipod. I had an old one but it broke, now I'm trying to put all the music that was on the old one on the new one but I plug the ipod in and nothing happens. How can I make it recognize the new ipod?

Did you install the iPod software so you could use it on a Windows computer?
Download and install the iPod updater to your computer. Restart your computer. Connect the iPod when told, and follow the set up procedure.
After that, you should see the iPod recognized in iTunes and you can then start transferring songs.

  • Can I use the same Itunes registration with with a new Ipod touch

I have purchased the latest Ipod Touch.
Can I use the same regristration on Itunes  to sync the new Ipod touch?
    and
can I use both the old and the new Ipod touch united for the same regristration??

    - If you mean another version of the iTunes program on your computer the answer is now.  You need the latest version of Itunes and your Win 7 can handle it.  BTW you can only have on instance of iTunes on a computer.
    - I you mean an iTunes account, the answer is no.  You can use one account for an umlimited number of iDevices.
