My itunes won't share its library

I have recently purchased a new laptop and wanted to transfer my library from one laptop to the other. After searching about I discovered home sharing so download itunes onto my new laptop and turned homesharing on for both laptops under the same apple ID. However my old laptops library isn't appearing in my new laptops itunes! On my old laptop the new laptops library is being shared and I can see that but not via versa. I updated itunes on my old laptop so both itunes were the same but stil nada. Not sure if its a problem with old laptop or the new one....

I recently reformatted my windows 7 Acer laptop, my itunes library was all consolidated and I copied the iTunes folder from music to the hdd, after reinstalling windows I downloaded iTunes, copied and replaced the itunes folder in music with the one on my drive, opened it with shift and chose the library but iTunes will not open my library it just opens to a empty iTunes? All my media is in the folder and will open and play in iTunes if I double click on a individual song, movie ECT.. How do I get my itunes back?

I am having the exact same problem. Checked firewall and it does not appear to be the problem. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled and the bar to load iTunes will get about halfway and then go away and I am left with a white page with iTunes Store as the only script. It was happening last evening as well...

HELP! iTunes won't sync iPhoto Library to iPhone 6

PLEASE HELP!! I know this has been covered to some degree in other threads, but I haven't been able to solve this. My iTunes will not sync my iPhoto Library wih my iPhone 6.
Basically, I bought a new iPhone 6, which was restored from backup. I was never an avid user of iPhoto in the past and because most of my photos come from a different camera and most of my pictures have been compiled through time, I never really saw the point in filling up my measly 16gb iPhone 4s with a bunch of pictures. So I never really synced my photos in the past.
Now that I have a 128GB iPhone 6 I figured I could start sycing my pics and share them or whatever. I'd like to able to sync to my iPhoto Library via iTunes to my iPhone.
So this is what happens. I can see my photos fine on iPhoto. When I connect my iPhone, only iPhoto launches and it 'll download any recent pics.
When I launch iTunes, it'll detect my phone - BUT when I go to the Photos tab, when trying to sync to my iPhoto Library, the ONLY option I am given is to sync to "PICTURES" folder which contains my 'desktop pictures' folder with only 40 some pics... BUT IT ALSO HAS MY IPHOTO LIBRARY WHICH ITUNES WILL NOT PICKUP ON???
Am I missing something?? thanks everybody in advance for helping me.

When I go through Media... It shows me iPhoto and Photo Booth icon but prompts me to open iPhoto to see the photos... even though as you can see from the window in the background iPhoto is open....

ITunes won't show shared library on Mac

So, I have a network of a Mac Mini G4, a PC desktop with Win XP, and a netbook with Win XP. I have iTunes running on each machine - iTunes 10.0.1 on the two Win XP machines, and iTunes 9.2.1 on a Mac Mini G4 with OS X 10.4.11. I have authorized each iTunes with the same iTunes account. And I have verified that all three machines are on the same subnet and in the same network (SMB is set up to the same name as the Windows machines). I can share files between all three machines in any direction. However, I can only access shared libraries in iTunes on the two PCs - the Mac Mini never displays any shared libraries in iTunes.
I have gone into Preferences on all three machines and verified that each is set up to look for shared libraries and share their libraries. I even enabled Home Sharing on each machine just in case. But still, I can access the Mac library from both PCs and play the music, and I can access the PC libraries from each PC. But I cannot access either PC library from the Mac Mini.
Any ideas??

UPDATE:
Figuring the main link in the chain is the fact I'm using a 3rd party USB wifi adapter on my Mac Mini, I unplugged it, and plugged the Mini directly into the router with an ethernet cable. Everything works fine then - iTunes library sharing works, and the Touch can now access it with the Remote app.
So, apparently it is the Planex GW-US54GXS USB Wifi adapter that is the problem. Completely uninstalled the drivers for the Planex wifi device, restarted, reinstalled, still same problem.
Wierd thing is I can still access the internet, and do file sharing between all devices. Just iTunes communication is a problem.
Any ideas what the Planex wifi device might be interfering with iTunes?

Itunes won't load shared library just loads and closes

Enabled home sharing, shows "John Doe's Library". When I click on it, it says "Loading John Doe's Library" after about 10 seconds it jumps back to my main library and won't load John Doe's library. Help!!!
*Itunes is updated, tried restarting, John Doe can open my library on his computer.

Thanks for the tip but holding the option key didn't seem to do anything at all. I'm not sure how to navigate to my library file (is this all done in iTunes or the Finder?) It just launched iTunes with no mp3's listed, all the preferences remain and there is no welcome screen as if it's the first time I've run iTunes and no mention of a corrupt file.
This is really bizarre to me. My music library is far too large to drag and drop all the files into iTunes every time I want to update my iPod.

Itunes won't display my library

I just upgraded to Itunes 11, and have noticed a huge isue. My library is now gone. When I click the "Artists" page, it says I can Go to the iTunes store, or Scan for Music. When I click Scan for music, it says it is adding files, which I know are song names because I know the songs, then it gets the album artwork, finishes, and I am right back where I started. I can search for my music in the search bar, and it will pop up, but it will not play. Not sure what to do here.

K so here is another good one. If I go to the "Playlists" section, and look at recently added, all my music shows up. But if I click back onto songs, albums, artists, it all dissapears again. So Itunes knows that it is in there, it just refuses to show it to me under anything other then Recently Added.

Using External HD and iTunes10.iTunes won't recognize old library on ExtHD

All my music is stored on my Lacie Rugged External Drive. In the past when upgrading iTunes, I was always able to just change the location of my media folder (iTunes prefs>Advanced>etc.). However, iTunes 10 doesn't seem to want to read the old library. Any ideas? I was hoping to avoid transferring all the songs on to my new MacBook Pro.

It could not find any of them unless I individually located them (there are over 9000 tracks so I have not got time to do that). I changed the location back to the original and it found them again. Next I tried following the thread on the .itl file - using shift and selecting the library on the L drive, but it only found 300 tracks, some bought, some transferred, some full albums, some only part of the album, an apparently random selection. I tried going back to the original .itl file and the same happened - it only found the same small selection of tracks. I know the files are still there - I can see them, but I have no idea how to connect itunes to them. Please help!

Move library to new PC iTunes won't recognize music library

Followed the "Move items to another computer" directions under iTunes help. Can see the songs listed in the iTunes folder on the new PC - but when I open iTunes it doesn't recognize any music. Tried synching and it says there is no music so if I synch will lose everything on the iPOD. How do I get iTunes to recognize the library on the new PC?

IiTunes won't open says it is wrong langage and to run English version. I am trying to open in windows.

Try moving the file C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml out to your desktop then start iTunes. This will force iTunes to create a new preference file which may do the trick. You will need to review your iTunes preferences after doing so in case you made any changes to the default settings that you need to reset.

Itunes can not read its library

itunes will not load and gives message "the file 'itunes library' cannot be opened because it was created by a newer version of itunes" I keep getting this message even though I have reinstalled the latest version twice.

The GF found a solution: File>Add Folder To Library.
This imported all my existing files into the library. (Actually it just sort of blessed them, since they never moved before, during or after the process (iVoodoo) executed.

Upgraded to photos now itunes won't open photo library.

Had to restore photo library from Time Machine backup due to kids deleting it. Restored OK, opened Photos app and migrated library, works fine in photos app.
However in iTunes under the sync photos tab with iPhone, photo library is greyed out and I cannot select it.
Any ideas?

I understand that iTunes will not allow you to select and library to sync with after upgrading to Photos. It sounds like you may just need to set Photos as the system library preference. Here is the article that will walk you through this process.

I had to reinstall itunes when hard drive was replaced.
itunes library is on separate drive.
How do I get the newly installed itunes to recognise the library without having to manually add 50,000 files?
