My iTunes won't sync all my songs with my iPod

I'm using auto sync, just like I always have, and the box is checked to sync all songs with the iPod. If you check the bar at the bottom of the sync page, it *thinks* all 5000+ songs are on the iPod, and there's plenty of room left. But when you play one of the songs on the iPod, it says playing 1 of 800. Some of my songs are unchecked to not sync, but we're talking 100 max. So how do I get the missing 4,100 songs to copy??
The iPod is an iPod touch with iOS 5.1.1; Mac is using OS 10.9.1; iTunes version 11.1.3.

Have you tried performing a restore on the iPod?

  • Restored 4th Gen Ipod, now itunes won't sync all my songs, what to do?

I was having trouble with my ipod, so I restored. Now all the songs on my itunes won't sync down to my pod. It took like 20 songs out of 2000. How do I fix this?

It comes up with a 1428 error message sometimes, and sometimes it says that I have to restore my iPod. I have restored it many times, but it just keeps going in a circle and will not sync my songs back to the iPod.
hmmmm. if you're relentlessly getting a recovery mode message, then you might be having a Windows drive letter confusion. see the following document for troubleshooting suggestions with that:

  • ITunes won't load all my songs onto my iPod Nano since update.

Ugh. Before the update I had no issues updating my iPod and now it won't update all my songs because it says my machine is not authorized to play them? What does this mean? Some of these songs I purchased on iTunes and other were songs I have from my Cds? And it also says I have 4 other machines operating on iTunes? I am not sure how this happened? I have restored my iPod and I am still getting the same message. This is so frustrating! This is why I dread updating. Please help!

  • Itunes won't sync all the songs

My Iphone 4s simply could not sync all songs in my album.  Itunes could make it look like it synced all of them to the phone while in reality only 70% of the songs are playable, the non-playale ones are going to be in grey and you couldn't even click onto them.  When I plugged the phone into my Itunes again, it showed the same thing.  So I tried to sync it, only to find that it would not carry any "grey songs" over.  If you hit sync, it would sync the first 2 songs, then it would AUTOMATICALLY say sync cancelled.  And in the end no songs have been synced at all, my phone is still without the remaining 30% of the songs.
There are absolutely no songs I could get over that are marked grey.  Any of you have been through this before?  Is there a solution to "reactivate" the grey songs?  They're perfectly playable on my computer, just that I can't get it onto my phone.
I have had problems with Itunes before and I hope this incident won't add to the hate I have for this software.

mine is doing the same thing other than Itunes saying it can't read the format. I can't play 90% of my music. I took it to an apple store the other day an they told me only purchased music will work. Not even a music upload from a CD. Which to me is a load of ....because my wife has all the songs on her iphone that are greyed out on mine and they work on hers

  • ITunes won't sync all of my music to iPhone 4s

iTunes won't sync all of the music, it is skipping random songs, they still come up on the Music on the phone but cannot be played.. If anyone knows how to fix this please help.

Was this music purchased from iTunes or ripped? I have had problems in the past when I changed Apple IDs, and the content purchased through my previous account would not sync. If memory serves, I think it was an issue to do with the Mac not being authorised to access my old account. Signing in with my old account and authorising it resolved it. Not sure if this helps, but thought I would share.

When I hook my ipod up to my mac I used to get the Itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted error message. It would then sync all my song to the ipod but when I ejected it, none of the songs would be on the ipod. Now I hook it up and I get the Mac OS X can't repair the disk error message. Then the spinning colored pinwheel pops up and I can't use iTunes. Please HELP!!!!!!

Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

  • ITUNES WON'T SYNC ALL SONGS TO IPAD

When syncing my ipad 2 to itunes on my desktop, not all songs transfer over. I select one play list to sync, and some of the songs move to the ipad though all show up on the desktop/itunes view of my ipad. It appears that the songs that won't sync are ones I've loaded onto itunes from a cd while all of the songs that transfer are purchased. Ive tried reseting the ipad to original settings, turning the computer authorization off and back on and hard resetting the ipad. And both the ipad and itunes are currently updated. And these same songs that won't transfer have transfered fine to my ipod. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you may need to re-download the entire albums from iTunes. See this KB article for how to download past purchases: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
I'd suggest doing it one album at a time. Delete one, download it from your purchase histor, then the next, etc.

  • Ipod won't sync all my songs?

I have a 160g ipod classic, and I previously had a 80g classic, which synced all my music. However, this new one will not. It looks like the biggest problem is with songs that are in multiple playlists. So, song a will be in playlist 1 and 2 on itunes but when I sync my ipod, it will only be on playlist 2. I've tried resyncing my ipod and resetting it and so far, neither have brough about the desired results.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

I beleive that your iPod got stuck during the update. Can you do a Restore and try again?
Open the iPod updater, plug your iPod with your Mac and click Restore.
If it does not work, you may need to open the disk utility, go to Tab "ERASE" and click Erase, then follow by a Restore

  • ITunes doesn't sync all my songs.

I've put some of the songs from my computer to iTunes, plugged my iPod Touch into the computer, iTunes has recognised the device, I've clicked on my iPod, gone to 'Music', selected 'selected playlists, artists and genres', 'include music videos', 'include voice memos' and then I've selected the artists and playlist I want to go on my iPod, then clicked 'Sync'. Out of the 165 songs in the playlist I synced, 11 songs haven't synced to the iPod, and about 5 or 6 of the different artists I selected haven't synced to the iPod. A few of the artists/songs, I've been able to sync before, whereas some of them, I have tried time after time and they've never been synced, but since I updated my iPod and iTunes, through iTunes, they're not all syncing.
So I went to www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/ipodtouch and searched all over apple's support pages, but could find nothing to help me, even though there was mention of help with syncing problems on the iPod Touch support page (underneath the link from said page to the troubleshooting assistant it said 'resolve common syncing and network issues and more' but all it gave me on those pages was the regular advice, which I'd already tried, like restart the computer, check the USB port, ect)
Any idea why I'm having these problems?

A video that previously synced now isn't, also.

  • My iTunes won't sync all of my music to my iPod touch

I know all of the music is on my iTunes, as I am able to play the items on my laptop via iTunes. Yet my iPod refuses to sync the content. I have reset my iPod, checked the sync settings to sync all music, made sure I have the latest version of iTunes. I don't know wether to assume that there is a problem with my laptop or my iPod touch. Please help! My musical life is at stake

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Try deleting the the iTunes purchased ones and redownloading them.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • ITunes does not sync all my songs

I recently decided that it would be nice to have all my songs on my Android device as well as on my iPad & iPod, and to do that I needed to have all my songs synced with iTunes on my computer. I completed the update to version 11.3.0.54 but my library was empty. I remember that the last time I went on iTunes, which was probably more than a year ago, everything was there, but it was all gone. I plugged in my iPad for the first time and started a sync; that has all the music I would want on it, so I decided I could just sync it. I did that but only about half of my songs synced and then showed up. I then did "transfer purchases" and got quite a few more songs to transfer, but I still don't have any of the songs that I got off of CDs. Does anybody know how I could transfer these? Thanks!

    Check through this.

  • HT1459 how do I sync from my ipod to an empty itunes library without loosing all the songs on the ipod

I have had to change my computer and lost all my itunes libraries/
I still have them on my ipod/
is ther a way to sync all from ipod to computer
    Thanks Ruth

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:
