My iWeb always publish every pages... Why ?

I made a second iWeb site recently, and it appears that everytime i publish on .Mac, it takes very long time; when I look at the files that are uploaded to .Mac Servers, I see every single file of my two sites, even the unmodified pages !!
I'm pretty convinced that it is not the normal way of publishing for iWeb...
I thought that "blue pages" , that means unmodified pages, was not uploaded, but only the red pages (modified pages).
Does someone have the same problem ?
What can I do to speed up my iWeb publishing ?

I am having the same problem and as someone who has made a living designing and updating pages Apple's way of "managing" web publishing is obtuse at best.
I currently have three "sites" in my iWeb site organizer. If I simply want to make a single web page with a movie on it for my friends to view, I create a new site, make the movie page, and then try and publish this page (as iWeb sees it a "site") to a folder it publishes every page of every other site to that folder. This does not change when you hold down the option key.
I am either missing something or Apple is a bit daft in its grasp of how people might find use for their web page software. I like the templates and ease with which you can integrate of all your Mac generated media - but I do not see a simple solution for making a "one off" page.

IWeb wont publish updated pages to site using Mobileme

Tried to publish 2 updated pages to my current iWeb site published on Mobileme. Am directed through a Facebook username and password login. (Don't remember this step from prior publishing.) Then nothing happens. No site update. No option to publish site available within iWeb. And no way I see to save my changes made in iWeb before I exit the program to try to figure out. I have lost work twice. What is happening and how do I correct the trouble?

You must have checked the box next to "Update my Facebook profile when I publish this site."
Click the site name at the top of the left column in iWeb to get to the Publishing Settings page to change this.

Try clearing your brower's cache, and/or using another browser.

Pages in iWeb always needed to be re-uploaded

I have my domain name with Host Excellence. When I upload my iWeb pages iWeb always tells me my connection to the server broke and the upload could not be completed. When I go to my site it all seems to work fine. All the files have been uploaded. When I close and save iWeb shows my pages as blue and having been uploaded.
When I go to use iWeb again the next day it shows my pages in red as though they have not been uploaded. When I make a small change to one of the pages and go to upload it by "Publishes Site Changes" all the other pages need to be uploaded again even though I didn't change them.
Any ideas as to what is going on?

When you upload with an FTP application you have a couple of choices.
You can upload the whole folder with a all the website files and the external index.html file or the files inside.
The method you choose defines the URL to the pages and other files....

Cyberduck is a very competent freeware app which is easy to use but you may wish to consider a shareware one that allows you to see the files on both your Mac and the server in one window...

WHAT UP? iWeb password required on every page??

I've been building a password protected iweb site for 2 months. I've been able to publish then check my pages by only entering my password for the welcome page. As of tonight I'm being asked to enter my name and password for every page I open (using Safari). This is nuts!! I have no media that's on the pages. How do I keep my site password protected and get rid of this stupid page by page prompt?? I don't want to save my password during construction because I want to see what users will get bombarded with. HELP!!!

I'm having the same problem: starting this morning my .mac iWeb site repeatedly asks for a password for the pages I try to access. Many times it will not accept the password even though it is correct. This is the first time I've had this problem, even though I've been building a password-protected site for several months now. Also, another symptom of something wrong with .mac (or the new update for Safari, perhaps?) is the pages on my site are frequently loaded incorrectly, with elements missing (replaced by question marks). In the Activity Window it gives "Can't find host" as the reason. The problem seems to be with Apple's servers, since I'm having the same problem with all my computers.

One of my pages on iweb when publishing has a error!!!!!!!!

Now that iweb can publish, When I start the publish process, One of my pages says "cannot publish error on all men trend page, try again later" Why would there be a error on that page and how and I fix it.

No , I don't think that is the problem. I publish the page many times before and now only after this mobile me launch I am unable to publish that page. when will all this be done and when will I be able to publish my page. How do everyone knows that this is even a mobile me problem. Does anyone knows what is going on. The error reads like this when I am publishing:

The publishing settings page does not open when I click on the domain name and the iWeb application will not stay on the dock.

I have been trying to help a friend who is having problems publishing her website. (She has done so previously using Mobile me)
There seem to be a couple of things wrong with the application,
1 if I drag the application icon onto the dock, it won't stay there
2 I wanted to change where her site is published to (she has bought a domain name and has a hosting service now) but when I click on the domain name I do not get the "site publishing settings page" so we can't enter the new details. All that comes up is the main page of her website.
I would suggest uninstalling and re-installing Iweb, to see if that clears the problem, but as Iweb came pre-installed with her Imac, I am not sure that we can do this.
Any ideas please?

NO - not correct. Even if you are still using iWeb 08, you can still publish to another host and not MobileMe. You do this by selecting the option 'Publish to a local folder" and this will publish the site to your desktop and you can then use an ftp programme such as Cyberduck to upload your site to your host.
MobileMe will not be here after the end of June, so you will have to find alternative hosting. They are not taking any new subscriptions.
On new Macs, iLife 11 is pre-installed, but only iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand are included, not iWeb and iDVD. The Apple Online store is not selling the boxed version of iLife 11 any longer, so if you want to upgrade to iLife, then you'll have to look online at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk for a boxed set of either iLife 09 or iLife 11. Both contains iWeb 09, which is what you would want.

Problem publishing Photo page with iWeb 08

Hello,
I have a problem when publishing photo pages with iWeb 08. Upload starts and then I get the error message that iWeb encountered a problem while publishing. The funny thing is that I can see
the photo page in Safari. The only problem is that when starting the slide show I can not see the
forward/backward buttons. Publishing a photo page with iWeb from a .me web photo gallery works without any error message, but still when starting the slideshow the navigation buttons are not displayed. Actually if you click on the place where the navigation buttons are supposed to be,
you can go picture forward/backward. Any idea ?

I am having the same issue, except I do not get any error messages when publishing to a folder. Clicking on the "index" file within the folder will open the photo page in both Safari and Firefox. Everything functions as designed except no forward/backward/pause buttons are visible below the slideshow. There are text box outlines with a question mark where these buttons are supposed to be located, and I can pause, advance or reverse slides. Eventually these question mark outlines disappear and stay disappeared.
The end result is there are no intuitive graphic indicators on the slide show to even suggest to the viewer that he/she has some control over the presentation. I don't believe I can add explanatory text boxes to the slide show to compensate for the missing icons. This lack of visible control elements in the slide show is a huge issue. I am reasonable sure the problem does not reside within my computer. I've also reviewed inspector control options for a photo page/slide show and haven't gotten any combination of check boxes to make a difference.
I'm beginning to think this may be an unexpected conflict that was contained within a recent software update. It might well be worth a close look at programming code by Apple technicians. In the meantime, can anyone offer a clue as to what might be going on?

Published iWebsite pages turn red when scrolling pages in iWeb

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if I'm the only person who has this issue; when I publish my iweb sites and pages (to MobileMe) all goes well, but when I then scroll my page up and down in iWeb the site turns red again as if I have changed its content.
I've tried the usual stuff (deleted caches, prefs, logged into MM under a bogus username and password) to check if the problem is a MM issue but this also occurs when I publish to a folder...
I've repaired disk permissions and did a fresh install of OS X (10.6.7) two weeks ago.
Does anyone have any other suggestions which might solve this issue? Or perhaps even the same problem?

Although immediately posting to the discussions group says something about my personal opinion on the reliability of iWeb ... the problem was caused as you expected; the double digit finger action.
So 'no swiping in iWeb' I suppose.
The 'turning red' of published site pages was 100% reproducible by scrolling down using my trackpad, but it doesn't happen when I use my mighty mouse or the arrow buttons/scroll bar thing. (Even although nothing was selected in iWeb, bit of a bug if you'd ask me)

Virtuallly every page I go to I get the message "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page" No reason given why?

Why am I getting the message mentioned above, and no further information? The only buttons to click on are "Allow" or "X". Without knowing why the page redirection has been stopped, how can I know whether or not it is safe to allow?
This is occuring on virtually every page I go to, including suddenly appearing on my home page. It is very annoying and I want it to stop or at least tell my which page it prevented redirection to, or why. The current "Allow" or "X" is not enough to make an informed decision as to whether to allow or not.
Can anyone help with this please?

Thank you for your answer. It does stop the redirection notices, but now I have no idea if potentially unsafe sites are redirecting me. I cannot figure out why it has only recently started to happen on my home page though, when nothing has changed on there and I've had it set to show redirections, ever since I set up Firefox.
I guess I'll just have to make the decision as to whether I want to risk redirections or put up with the semi permanent notice.

Iweb URL is the same for every page

I have a small website built on iweb with a personal domain name, www.westonbennett.com and if you click on any of my pages the url doesn't change and is still www.westonbennett.com and I would like it to be a unique url for every page. Can anyone help me out?

What you did is webforward with cloaking/masking whose result is giving the same url for all pages.
What you should do to get yourdomain.com/sitename/pagename.html instead is change the CNAME

Resizing every page of a large iWeb website

I've got a website built in iWeb with well over 100 distinct pages, each auto-formatted as 700 pixels wide. I'm now trying to reset every page to 750 pixels.... anybody know of a quick way to reformat every page to the new size, without having to manually reassign each page with the Inspector?

Iweb is publishing one of my pages as garbled misaligned mess

However, I recently made some minor changes to fix some problems (bad links). In Iweb my changes all look fine. The page looks exactly like it does in the link above. However when I publish the page and open it in the browser all the images and the text boxes at the bottom of the page are scattered all over. There is no alignment. Instead of having 2 images and text boxes per line, the are simply one after another (below) in a jarbled mess. Any ideas?

Go to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites and see if the folder for the site is there. If it is, open the folder and double click the index.html file to see if the site launches in your browser.
