My iWeb page on Safari is a mess while on Firefox is ok...

Hello everyone of you.
I'm experiencing this crazy thing at this very moment.
I'm building my new site and
while on Firefox everything seems (and really is) to be ok,
on Safari it's a total mess, displaying name to old links etc, instead of the real text strings...
Can anyone explain me what it's happening and how to avoid it?
Thanks a lot in advance.

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? Have you tired clearing Safari's cache (Command+Option+E) and reloading the page?
What version of Safari are you using?

  • IWeb page does not load photos when published on Firefox?

    Hello,
I just started using iWeb, and created a webpage to share photos with my friends and family. Today when I updated (published) some new photos there is a problem with the website displaying on Firefox (the photos do not load and the links are not active).
Seems to work fine on Safari, but I think Firefox is the most common browser these days...
    Anyone else experienced this problem?
    thanks
    Greg

    Greg:
The FF3 problem was corrected with the advent of the 2.0.4 iWeb update. If you haven't updated to that version so do and then do a Publish All to MobileMe. If you are running 2.0.4 do a Publish All to MobileMe and try Firefox again. Be sure to clear the cache also.

  • Appearance of iWeb 2.0.2 pages in Safari and other browsers

I guess this question has been posted several times before because I can't find the relevant search terms to limit the number of answers to a reasonable count. Thus, sorry for the repetition (if so).
Is there a way to amend the appearance problems of iWeb 2.0.2 pages in Safari and other browsers?
    Problems are:
Safari: color management (?) - take a look at this site: http://shivaduo.jan-groh.de - Text and frame were created with exactly the same web safe color (990033), but they differ a lot.
Firefox 2..., IE 6, Camino 1.5, Shiira: no shadows, (some) no reflections, (all) horizontally broken lines in reflections of frames, (Windows) fonts (Trebuchet MS) get changed (worked perfectly before with iWeb 1... on exactly the same computer).
Is there any remedy to this aestheical disaster (which was the main reason for me to switch to iLife '08)?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Safari Rendering iWeb Pages Incorrectly

I just observed today 7/10 that Safari is incorreclty displaying iWeb Pages. On mine, as well as my friends site, who uses the same theme, Safari is drawing a thin white border around the page and showing question marks. It's not showing up this way when I look at the pages with Firefox. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issues. Could the move to MobileMe have anything to do with this? I found the timing of this very interesting.

Nothing has changed? The website displays correctly now and the thin white line which was present yesterday as the MobileMe transition was underway is no longer visible. Again from Apple: +MobileMe is built to work seamlessly with iWeb. You simply create your site, click Publish, and it’s online. There are no settings or configurations to remember — *MobileMe does it all behind the scenes* and all you see are the beautiful results+
*"MobileMe does it all behind the scenes"*. We see the results of all their work behind the scenes. Well, if things I saw yesterday were wrong, isn't there a good chance that there was something wrong with the work done by MobileMe? I guess Apple is lying here since according to you, MobileMe is a service and has nothing to do with web pages being displayed. They were attempting to do it all behind the scenes yesterday and as you are aware, things weren't running too smoothly. Today I managed to log into MobileMe just fine which I was able to do only once yesterday. And guess what? My website also displays correctly today! But as you say...one has nothing to do with the other. Whatever dude...
A bit of advice... A less haughty and condescending tone in your responses towards users who post legitimate questions and concerns about Apple related issues, would be appreciated by all. That beind said...I'm done and have wasted enough time going back and forth with you.

  • Safari's iWeb pages much worse than Firefox!?

Why does Safari show a much worse (darker, pixilated) version of my iWeb pages than Firefox? Firefox is a true respresentation of my iWeb website - in colour and layout, Safari isn't. Any suggestions?

    Hi..
If you are not awrare, iWeb will not longer be available starting June 30th, 2012.
Read here >  Apple - MobileMe - MobileMe transition and iCloud
For help with the site dissimilarity in browsers, post your topic in the iWeb forum here. That way you can receive feedback directly from iWeb users.
You can also ask about options for web hosting for your site after June 30th.

  • Does changing iPhoto library "mess up" iWeb pages?

Can someone give me a short explanation of how iWeb stores its images on my computer, and how that relates, if at all, to iPhoto? Many of my iWeb pages are created from iPhoto albums. Now I would like to make some significant changes to my iPhoto library (divide it into two libraries, delete some images, etc). Willl that have any effect upon my iWeb pages on my computer that use those iPhoto images? Or, once imported to iWeb from iPhoto, are the images then part of iWeb independent of iPhoto? Thank you!

    Bobio,
iWeb stores all of it's data in a file named Domain. This file, by default, is placed on your hard drive in this location. Once the iPhoto media is imported into iWeb, it is copied there and the iPhoto files are not affected by what iWeb does with the media. iWeb will actually store a copy of the original file from iPhoto--something to bear in mind if you are using large pic files. Your Domain file can become somewhat bloated if you are using a lot of large media.
So the short answer to your question is, yes, the iPhoto media becomes part of the iWeb file and you may do what you will with your iPhoto configuration without affecting it, and vice versa--changes to previously imported iPhoto media within iPhoto will not affect your pages.

  • Hyperlink to iWeb Page not working

I have created an iWeb page. I have a hyperlink to the page on a document. The hyperlink takes me to a mobile me error page ie "We can't find the page you requested. Please make sure the URL is spelled and capitalized correctly, and try again."
Yet if I copy and paste the exact same url I have entered in the hyperlink filed into the address bar on Safari it goes to the right page no problems.
    Any ideas please?

Is that the page you're trying to link to in the PDF document?
I was able to place a hyperlink in an rtfd text file and and Word 2008 document to your web page that works. The link in the Word document takes about 5 to 7 seconds to get to Safari and open the Page. The rtfd document, created with Bean
Bean, a great, free word processor, opens the page in Safari almost immediately.
In Work I used the Insert ➙ Hyperlink menu option and entered the URL of you page and the text to use as the link. For the Bean document I clicked and dragged the link title at the top of your web page onto the Bean page and saved as a rtfd formatted file. If the page is saved as a plain text document the hyperlink is lost.
If I do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save as PDF from Bean I get a working link in the resulting PDF file. But with Word the link does not work.

  • Text in iWeb pages.

    Dear all:
I am experiencing a problem with iWeb.
The text I create on iWeb pages don't seem to be rendered as text but rather images. After I created several pages for my business' web page, publish them to a folder and open with any browser (I use Safari) the text can't be selected but appears as one image block that I can drag just like an image and save to my desktop.
Is this the way iWeb handles text ?
This obviously represents a big problem as the pages can not be properly indexed with search engines such as Google and it affects the overall ranking of my business' web site.
How can iWeb create text that is rendered as text once pages are published ?
In case it can't what is one supposed to do to have the text on the pages appear as text to the spiders from search engines ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Joseph Chamberlain

This ALT tags you are referring to, are they the tags
associated with images for accessibility purposes
    (visually impaired users) ?
I don't know if they are used in that way. I do know that this text in the ALT tags is displayed whenever the actual image becomes unavailable. Have a look at the source HTML of your own page to get an idea of what this looks like.
In regards to keywords how can one enter keywords for
differenet iWeb pages to improve ranking with search
    engines ?
I think with the modern search engines like Google, keywords and other meta-information has become less useful and certainly not necessary to get your page indexed properly. These search engines work mostly off contextual information like the ALT tags and other things contained in the HTML code. If you would like to add meta information, that is certainly possible....but not through iWeb directly. You would need to edit the HTML and add them yourself. Here is a thread in which I have posted the general format...

  • IWeb page printed from iWeb site comes out BLACK on some browsers

I made and run a website for a local art group. iWeb works well for this purpose. I publish the site to our domain. The main site is for the public and a second site, password protected and reached through the main site, is for members.
I've put the entry form for our biggest annual exhibition on the website, intending that members can print it from there (most have hard copies as well). Printing works perfectly from Safari. But many members have PCs (grrr) and use things like Firefox and IE.
Firefox prints the iWeb pages totally BLACK. IE prints okay on some computers and not on others. A clue is that, if you look fast as you open an iWeb page in IE, you see all the layout components in light blue; it immediately disappears. But that is the part that prints out black.
What on earth is causing this and HOW can it be prevented?? I have used NO background color on my pages.
    Thanx,

  • Can't navigate using back button from web gallery linked to iweb page

I have a web gallery that I enabled as a hyperlink to my iweb site. When I go to the gallery from a web page, I don't have any problem navigating to the gallery to view photos, but I am unable to navigate back to the web page using the "back" button. Instead I have to relaunch my web page in Safari; otherwise I would be "stuck" on the gallery unable to navigate to other web pages.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Load the gallery in your browser and copy the URL.
Create a text or image link and in the "Link" inspector select it as an eternal link.
Paste the gallery URL into the box and check "Open link in new window".
This way, the gallery window can be opened and closed but your original webpage will remain.

  • Viewing iWeb pages in other browsers/platforms

Any known issues with viewing iWeb pages in other browsers like IE (older versions especially) or on a PC platform? I'm ready to build a big but simple family site, but my first test page (jnmobecker.home.comcast.net) is not playing nice. I see it fine on Safari on my Mac, other Macs (at work for instance) see it fine, one friend on a PC sees it fine, others on PCs do not. Specifically, all they can see is the top banner image of the three kids. I did try it on a PC at work today on IE, and I watched as the progress bar loaded 20+ images (the thumbnails and slideshow components I presume) but then nothing but that top bar. Thoughts and any sugggestions are much appreciated, thanks.

There are still problems with Firefox and IE: in particular, the font changes. In Safari it looks as it should, but others it reverts to some courier or verdana font.

  • IWeb pages Do Not Correctly Display In W3C's Browser/Editor - Amaya 9.54

Earlier I posted that lastest version of Firefox would not display iWeb pages correctly. However, iWeb pages have never displayed correctly in the W3C's browser/editor Amaya. I just tried the Amaya upgrade (9.54) and the iWeb pages still don't display correctly NOR do any of my links work!? Everything displays correctly in Safari (and now Firefox?!)
    Here's my iWeb page:
    http://usablemakeover.com/publicopenspacedesign101/Blog/Blog.html
To download and check with Amaya:
    http://www.w3.org/Amaya/

The issue isn't whether or not users use Amaya for web browsing - the issue is: does iWeb produce valid HTML and CSS!
Since Amaya is produced by the W3C - who establishes the standards for valid HTML and CSS (yes/no?) - anyone using iWeb to produce content - expects iWeb to produce valid pages. Or is there a problem with Amaya?
Here's how to check for valid HTML and CSS. Just paste my URL (or your own iWeb page URLs):
    http://usablemakeover.com/publicopenspacedesign101/Blog/Blog.html
    into: http://validator.w3.org/
    and http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
You will likely be surprised with the results.

  • IWeb page loads half white, please help!

Hello everyone, I have a very annoying problem. I have the background on my iWeb page set to black, but nine times out of ten when I visit it online, the bottom part of the page loads white. I refresh and I refresh and it keeps doing it, then eventually it goes away after the millionth refresh. But sometimes it doesn't appear at all.
How can I make it so that the page always loads with a completely black background?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

As far as I can tell it is an minor annoyance I have seen this in my own websites from time to time as well as other CSS websites created with something other than iWeb. But, so far I have only experienced this in Safari.
