My 'Junk' Mailbox has dissapeared

Yes it has dissapeared from the side panel. Additionally if I try to use the Mailbox>Go To>Junk Mail option it is greyed out.
Does anyone know how I can get it back short of trashing the preferences which will require me to redo the mail setup?
Thanks in advance for any help.
eric

Is Junk Mail set to automatic?
It was...and then I tried to customize the Junk Mail Filter. I believe that is when the Junk Mailbox dissapeared.
None of my mail filters seem to be working correctly either. It feels like Mail 2.0's preferences are hosed. Who knows though.
Thanks.

  • In Leopard, My Local Junk mailbox has Disappeared--How do I  get it back?

I cannot find my junk mail folder anywhere and sometimes I need to get something from it. Also if I ask Leopard to just show it in the inbox, it does not do so.
    Ideas much appreciated.

  • Junk Mailbox in Mail 6.5

Don't know when or how this happened, but I can no longer access the contents of the Junk mailbox. There's no command or button anywhere in the current interface for access. There remains just the "thumb down" icon next to the trash icon. I know the Junk mailbox has at least one item because a recent search revealed one item located in Junk.
    Appreciated.

    You can try this.

  • ICloud Junk mailbox contains mail that is not junk

I think this started when I upgraded to Mountain Lion, but I'm not sure. Recently, a Junk mailbox has appeared among my iCloud mailboxes. What is annoying is that quite often, messages are sent to this mailbox that I have not marked as junk. Indeed, some of the messages sent there have been important. I've tried deleting the mailbox, but it keeps reappearing, with messages that are not junk. Any idea how I change this behavior?
    Thanks in advance

Try changing the Junk filtering in your Mail/Preferences/Junk Mail. For the messages already there, you will have to mark them as not Junk.

  • My mail account has no junk mailbox?

my mail account has no junk mailbox?

Sorry but your issue has nothing to do with Apple networking. You may find better results in getting a possible solution if your re-post your issue to the Apple Mail area of the Apple Support Communities.
However, in the mean time, the Junk mailbox folder is shown when you enable filtering for junk mail in Apple Mail. To do so while in Mail, select Mail from the menu bar, and then, select Preferences. Then select Junk Mail. Finally select the "Enable junk mail filtering."

  • Why doesn't mail put my junk mail in my junk mailbox

Since I started using 10.9.2, the Mail program has misbehaved much less and I have been able to return to using it from Gmail. However, it puts all my junk mail (which it SAYS is junk mail) in my Inbox instead of the junk mailbox - even though I have instructed it in Preferences to move it to the Junk mailbox. Why? What can I do to correct this?

Can't anyone come up with an answer to this question? I'd be very grateful for any ideas.

  • How to reset junk mailbox message count?

Apologies if this is resolved elsewhere, but I can't find it. For the past several months I have received several "ghost" spams per day. (There is nothing in the sender, message header, or body.) The mail filter does not catch them. I wrote a rule (based on a suggestion in this forum) where if "from" does not contain "@" it is sent to junk. It seems to work fine. Since about then - and I'm not sure if the events are simultaneous - my junk mailbox won't reset its count of messages. I have erased all messages in it and SOME are erased, with the count being reduced by 3-4. The total shown next to the mailbox icon continues to grow, however. It is now around 50. There appear to be no messages in the mailbox. This began before I upgraded to Tiger and has continued since then. Mail seems to work fine, but it is very irritating. Thanks for your help.

    Hello Michael.
Assuming this junk mailbox is for a POP type account, quit Mail first and using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > Junk.mbox.
Delete the Junk.mbox folder and empty the Trash.
When re-launching Mail, a new Junk.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the account named folder when receiving the next message that is automatically or manually marked as junk.

  • Extra Junk Mailbox

I am seeing an additional junkmail box under the original one. It's named 'Junk (A'. There is nothing in the folder. Does anyone know what this could be from?
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Does this "Junk(A" named mailbox appear as a sub-mailbox to an account named Junk mailbox or is the mailbox at the same level as the orignal account named Junk mailbox under Junk in the mailboxes drawer?
There should be account named Junk mailboxes under Junk in the mailboxes drawer only - one for each account as long as each account has received a message that was automatically or manually marked as junk.
If the original account named Junk mailbox is for a POP type account, using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account).
Within a POP type account named folder for Tiger Mail should be the following mailbox folders if the function has been used by the account: INBOX.mbox, Drafts.mbox, Sent Messages.mbox, Deleted Messages.mbox and Junk.mbox. These mailbox folders represent the account named mailbox under In, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk in the mailboxes drawer.
If there is a Junk(A named mailbox/folder at the first level within the account named folder or within the Junk.mbox folder, quit Mail first and delete this mailbox using the Finder and empty the Trash.
Launch Mail and this will resolve the problem.

  • Too many junk mailboxes

I use Mail on my Mac as the client for my company's Gmail service.  Mail has 4 mailboxes for junk mail, and I'm not sure if I can delete any of them, and if so, which one(s).  Under Gmail, there is a mailbox labled "spam".  I assume that gmail itself filters incoming messages and puts the spam here.  But also, under iCloud, there is 1 mailbox labeled "junk", 1 labeled "junk(@me.com)", and 1 labeled "junk email."  How can I clean up this mess?  And if I manually move a message to junk, which one do I use?

Apple support article with some information on extra junk mailboxes:
    Mail Problems

  • My Junk Mail has increased ten fold. It seems that spammers has got hold of my E-mail address has anyone else had this problem recently?

In the last 2 weeks my Junk mail has totally gone viral. I am having at least 10>12 mails a day of junk advertizing. I have never had this prevously have the Apple mailboxes been hacked into?

I had this happen to me yesterday. I got over 160,000 spam emails in 24 hours. Now I can't access my email. I'm able to get to all the other icloud functions tho. Really weird. I have tried on a couple of different computers but NO go. I thought it might have been my computer or OS devices but it won't even let me access my mail on my computer from work. I think I will have to contact Apple support. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Nothing in Junk Mailbox...

First, my junk mail wouldn't filter, it would be marked as junk, but it came in the inbox with all the rest of my mail.
I tried dragging one of the pieces of junk mail to my junk mailbox, and it kept coming up with this message saying my POP account wasn't going to let me do that. I did a control-click and decided to erase all the mail in the junk mailbox (there was nothing in there, but I decided it was worth a try).
So good, I can now drag my junk mail into the junk mailbox where it belongs, so what's good. Unfortunately, I can no longer see anything in my junk mailbox, I have 12 new messages in there, but now I can't see any of them!!!
Why can't I see what's in my junk mailbox anymore?

Using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account).
Within a POP type account named folder with Tiger Mail should be the following folders if the function has been used by the account along with a MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2 file.
    INBOX.mbox
    Drafts.mbox
    Sent Messages.mbox
    Deleted Messages.mbox
    Junk.mbox
Confirm there is a Junk.mbox named folder as shown.

  • ICal: january has dissapear!!!!!!

The month of janury has dissapear from iCal in both my wife's macbook and my macbook pro (which are not sincronize). The main window and the preview window would jump from dec 2007 to february 2008. I can only get to jan 08 if i change my view to weeks only. Plus all my january appointments sync froma nokie E62, show in feb 08. Anyone.... any ideas? thanks in advance!

    holadi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Often iCal anomalies can be rectified by refreshing the iCal plist file.
Quit iCal, and drag the com.apple.iCal.plist file which is located in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder to the Desktop. Then log out/in or restart and check iCal for desired behavior.
Another place to check is System Preferences...>International>Formats>(Make sure that you select the correct "Region" and also the appropriate "Calendar" in "Dates." There are many other settings in that "International" Preference and I hesitate to make any more suggestions. If my suggestions do not work, it may also be helpful to look under the Language tab.

  • Getting Mail to stop putting everything in the 'junk' mailbox

I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard several months ago and ever since then, Mail puts some incoming mail in the junk mailbox, even though it isn't junk, or marked as junk. I've tried moving the 'not junk' mail to it's proper account folder, but the next piece of mail that comes from that addressee (usually from support forums and other email alerts) still goes into the junk mailbox. Iirc, in Tiger one could move the mail mistakenly sent to the junk folder from junk to it's proper place and Mail would 'learn' to send it there instead.
Is there a Preference that got changed when I upgraded or something, and if so, what is it? About half my mail is now ending up in the junk box.

To answer your first question, yes, I have enable junk mail filtering on.
I'll try turning that off first.
Edit: I tried that, but it removed the junk icons attached to the 3 pieces of actual junk mail. I have 28 pieces of email that Mail put in the junk folder. 3 of them are junk and marked accordingly. None of the rest are marked as junk and shouldn't be there, so how do I create a filter telling Mail that mail not marked as junk not be put in the junk folder?
I also have the following marked in the junk mail part of Mail's preferences:
    When junk mail arrives:
Move it to the junk mailbox
The following types of messages are exempt from junk mail filtering:
Sender of message is in my Address Book
Sender of message is in my Previous Recipients

  • I inadvertently removed the junk mailbox from Mail.app in SL, how can I recreate / restore it ?

    Hi,
Well, the title says it all : I inadvertently removed the junk mailbox from Mail.app in SL,
it still is spresent in my ~/library/mail folder, how can I recreate / restore it in mail.app ?
Since I have a fair number of email accounts, intelligent mailboxes, rules and archive folder, I really don't want to rebuild everything. And, no, I can't use time machine to restore it.
All help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi AdamKB, sorry for late follow-up.
What I lost is the "container" that groups all junk mailboxes in one place in Mail, like is done for all the inboxes.
The problem is that I lost visibility on all junk mailboxes. It is only a visibility problem because the junk mailboxes are still present locally for my POP accounts and remotely for may IMAP accounts, I justdon't see them anymore in Mail's interface.

  • I'm not receiving any mail into the Junk Mailbox

    Hi
I had a problem with the ports of the 2 accounts that I have set up in Mail (one of those is mac.com) due to an excess of space used. I tried several options and it finally it worked. As a result, a week later I realised that I was not receiving any mail into the Junk Mailbox... I don't know if it is related to the orher problem, maybe not.
Essentially I am no longer receiving any junk mail at all - and no mail that is even doubtful (ie from an unknown address). The mails are not showing up even online via MobileMe ... so I have no idea where they are!
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, I'm the author of the form and I expected the generic notification to be sent to that email but none is coming through.  I also see that there is a place on the settings page to enter a custom notification email but that is grayed out unless I upgrade.  I just want at least one, generic email to be sent to me so that I can know when a user submits a form.
