My keyboard is only registering every other stroke when i edit
I'm a writer and I just got Macbook Pro. (2.4ghz core 2 duo)
I really like the machine, but it really just isn't working for writing.
When I go to edit any of my text I've already written, it only recognizes every other keystroke from the arrow keys or the delete key.
It's driving me nuts. Editing is a big part of writing and I currently have to hit twice as many keystrokes to navigate text than I would otherwise have to.
It's intermittent though, sometimes after a restart it works fine for a while.
Happens same with the onboard keyboard as with the apple usb keyboard.
It never happens in the web browser or editing in a window like this submission form, but when it starts it's in text edit and subetha edit.
I wonder if this might have something to do with X11, which I run a lot of the time?
Any suggestions would be helpful. I need to be able to edit consistently.

Submit to an iframe, only happens every other time
We have a navigation (tree widget) that is generated with JavaScript. Clicking on the tree nodes is supposed to load an url i the content iframe.
A hidden form is used for this. By clicking on a tree node a hidden inputs field value is set and the hidden form is submitted that does a post to the iframe (using target on the form).
First question would be if this is the best solution for this. Feels a bit hacky.
But the main problem is that the form is only submitted every other time.Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Verizon iPhone 5, 64GB black - is anyone having issues with a very choppy conversation while talking on the phone? Both my wife and I have the same phones and are both having the same issue. We can only hear every other word of the person we are talking to. This happens at home, on the road and in the downtown area while calling both cellphones and landlines. It is intermittent, so we don't know exactly when it will reoccur. Absolutely no problem with data. The data speed is great.

Batch capture P2 only getting every other clip
I recently had to reload a project that was shot on P2. Still had the footage on an external hard drive so I figured no problem. Plugged in the hard drive. Mounted it in Log and transfer. Selected all the clips I needed and hit Batch Capture.
It only recaptured every other clip. So I selected the clips left and tried again. Still every other. Continued this way until I got them all, but with over 200 clips it was a real pain. Has anybody else had tis problem, know what I did wrong or how to make FCP get all the clips next time.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
Paste into the window of another application.
Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Anyone having Bluetooth syncing issues w VW Tiquan11... and iPhone4? Essentially the pairing craps out every other time when you connect to the cars bluetooth. Requires rebooting iPhone, power off/on and then connects..
Many people are finding their Iphone 4S drops connection with their VW (Passat etc) integrated bluetooth hands free system after working fine for 5, 10, 20 minutes. The only way to reconnect is to switch the car off or turn the Iphone bluetooth off & back on.
This is a dangerous fault and it appears that both Apple & VW have no solution (or are ignoring as they have already sold you a phone & a car).

Issues when printing a website of multiple pages, only prints every other page
I have recently started using Firefox as since using windows 8 have found a few problems with explorer.
I sell a great deal on ebay and in order to print my invoices, ebay create a webpage with all of them on.
I have attempted to print this through firfox and it only seemed to print every other page fully(1,3,5,7 etc.)

If you want ot send mail, you will have to configure the MTA to allow relaying for your internal IP address range. Edit the INTERNAL_IP section of the mappings file, change the 32 after the ipaddrees of your system to somthing like 24 or 16 (depending on your network!)
If you can send & receive messages in webmail, then there must be something wrong with your outlook settings for reading. Are you trying to read mail using POP or IMAP? What are your settings for POP system, user & password, etc?
Also, creating a user in the console is fully supported. No problem, just don't forget to tick the "mail" service and do the mail settings for the account.

Looping through text files loads all 2014 files correctly, but 2013 files only loads every other row

I have a folder with many text files such as this...

…and so on…
and I'm loading all of the files beginning with A to an existing table in SQL Server. I'm loading the data as is to a staging table, no data type conversions, and I add only two derived columns. I have a loop to accomplish this, and it's working perfectly
except for one detail. All of the files in 2013 load every other row. All of the 2014 files load all rows as intended.
Any idea what would cause this? All files are being loaded using the same loop, same variables, same everything. My enumerator on the for each loop is Foreach File. The DataRowsToSkip property on the flat file connection manager is 0. I'm not sure where
to look next. I need all rows in all files to be loaded.
Forgot to mention that there is a difference between the 2013 and 2014 files. The 2014 files have 8 additional columns. I suspect this is causing my issue, just not sure what to do about it.

WeeLassIn SSIS 2012 and above these additional columns would not cause a failure, but looks like lead to you having impartial loads.
I suggest you create two loops, one for one metadata - files from 2014 and another for 2013 ones.

I am trying to listen to iplayer radio through apple TV from my macbook air. When I switch back to just using the macbook the stream is consistent and works well but when I switch to airplay mode the sound stream literally drops in and out every other second. Ha! I have just gone into iTunes and I have the same issue!?
I have checked for software updates on both apple devices and restarted my router but still I have the same issue.
This is really annoying as this is the main reason I got apple TV! Can anyone help??This may sound stupid, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway. Is it possible, that if I have enough junk on my desktop it might disrupt the signal? It seems odd, but it kind of looks like my signal is strong and relatively steady now that I've cleaned my desktop. I do tend to get very cluttered. I use a lot of reference images and save text clippings to use later... it just piles up very quickly.
So, I wonder if all that extra effort my system has to do keeping up with the junk might have something to do with the drop outs? -

I am a long time user of Macs. 20+ years.
This is my granddaughters 13" MacBook Pro we purchased for her in 2010 for college.
I have tried everything I know including firewire connection to my iMac while holding the T key, two different utilities CDs (will not open them) and held various key combinations as recommended while start up. Computer just beebs ever four seconds.
Battery is built-in but fully charged.

Can you count the beeps or flashes?
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.
