My keyboard is skipping letters and other commands... Help?

Every 10 or so characters, my keyboard skips a letter, acting as if no command was inputted. It's starting to occur more often, and it makes it extremely difficult to do /anything/.
This glitch also stops me from using commands like copy and paste using the keyboard (command c and etc.)
Does anyone know what could be happenning?
I've tried using an external keyboard, but the same problem has occurred.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Since it seems to be a software issue, the next thing to try is to create a new user and log in as that user. If the typing issue is present, you'll probably have to back up your data and reinstall OS X to cure things. If it's not present, you have an error in your main user's Preferences folder.

I just spent hour trying to fix tihs on my iMac and could find the answer so I wanted to post it for someone else. Mine was typing in crazy symbols (åß∂ƒ©).
Also I could not Command + Tab (shoot me), and when I clicked on a window in another app it hid the windows I was working in.
I tried new keyboards. And the system preferences stuff - system preferences - language & text - input sources. then select US. This didn't fix it.
Then I tried to change the keyboard shortcuts in the same window - spotlight (on left), unclick the show spotlight search field and the other one bellow. Then hit the com + Spacebar. This didn't fix it.
Then i did it and double check that i did it right and still didn't fix it.
So I called apple support and they gave me the magical key to fix this.
Turn off your computer. Unplug for 30 sec, and everything attached. Then power it back on and hurry and hold Command + Option + P + R. I held Command + Option + P with one hand and then after I hit power I added the R.
The computer will make one chime. Keep holding it. I will then shut down and make one more chime and you can let go.

How to put echo command and other command in same line in Terminal

Hello everyone. I use GeekTool (v3.0.1) and was wondering if I could put an "echo" command and another command in a shell script such that the output would be 1 line only instead of 2 lines for the 2 commands. How do I do that?

Groan... iPod skipping songs and other things..

My iPOD is a year old today,I have the "old and archaic" 20GB iPods. Recently i've noticed that my iPod has started skipping songs, that is I select a song to be played and the song features comes up, but then it skips forward to the song ahead. Also this past weekend, when I tried to play my IPOD and I turned it on.. I got an message that says www.apple.com/ipod/support...Also for some reason when I press play the pause sign and the lock feature is still on my iPOD.
This is only recently, after I got the last iPOD update that I seem to be having problems. A bit ironic, I think.
Anyway, i'd be greatful for some help.

Hi!! Can anyone please help me? My brandnew iPod Nano started out of the blue to skip all of my songs and wont show my pictures anymore. I think I always did everything right with it and now that. Only have it for a month and I allready had to restore it before. Can anyone please help??

When I send emojis to my friend who also has an iphone, it changes my message into random letters and things. Help?

Every time I send my friend an emoji using SMS, he receives it as a whole bunch of letters and symbols and sometimes the bubble is blank(he also has an iPhone btw). Why does it do this and can I fix it. Also, I see all of his messages and emojis anytime. It's my messages that are the problem.

No, "My Number" was not listed in my Phone menu, I had to manually type it it. Is there a way for that number to automatically be listed in that "My Number" spot? Would that maybe have something to do with my phone number not being listed as an option in the "Send and Receive" spot under messaging???

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Why New-SPConfigurationDatabase and other commands are not recognized?

    In Sharepoint 2013 Server I am an Administrator and in
SQL Server 2012 I am a securityadmin, db_owner and sysadmin. In the
I am also a domain user and domain administrator.
    Below is what is returned from the Powershell command I entered:

    I am running WS2012 and the prerequisites for Sharepoint 2013 Server have been installed.
    However when I run the Powershell script to configure the
New-SharepointFarm the command fails with all of the Powershell
commands returning the following error message:

    I should have included that while troubleshooting I did that too.
The results of "Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell" were:

    and if I try to run .\New-SharePointFarm.ps1 again I get the same error:

Communication between DTrace script and other commands

Hello,
Let's say you have a DTrace script running all time on your system. It monitors something ( some parameters, system calls, etc..).
If some condition is met (threshold exceeded for example) you would like a script / command to be called.
One way to do it would be: pipe the DTrace output to a "controller" script which checks it's input for some patterns (commands). The script could run appropriate commands when a pattern is found in input.
Is there any other more elegant/appropriate way ?

First of all, from Alan's post :

Even with PRIV_DTRACE_KERNEL, a user cannot make destructive action calls that would require the '-w' command line option. But, they do have good visibility inside the kernel which may not necessarily be a good thing.
Secondly, from Vlad:
"You may go to a site and see some useful D scripts that would require PRIV_DTRACE_KERNEL.
You want to be sure that however bad the script content may be (willingly or not) you can run it on a production system without having to fear anything. "
I find it hard to believe that anyone will run completely untrusted content downloaded from a random site on the Internet on a production machine without testing or validating it first. If so, then DTrace is by far the least of your concerns. Granted, there could be times when a script looks like it may help you solve a problem, but D is so straightforward that even a quick glance will tell you if anything bad could happen (especially given that D already provides quite a bit protection for you by preventing accidental badness).
That being said, perhaps system() could get some sort of special treatment in a D stability report. It seems like a reasonable place for it since if you call system(), DTrace has no way to validate that the targer executable exists, is runnable, and is stable for the current platform. So perhaps, if system() (and eventually some sort of similar interfaces) exist in a D script, then a stability report will flag their use for you - this saves having to grep or similar. Also, then you could execute "untrusted" D with the appropriate '-x' flag to prevent their use all together. Seems appropriate to me (consider it a formal RFE).
So as D scripts become more popular to the rest of the world, I assume we will see some digital signatures showing up for posted recipes. You always check the signature of Apache when you download it so a quick check when you get a new cookbook seems reasonable.

Keyboard input skips letters when typing quickly

I type very fast and noticed that if I type a word with a double letter (like two t's in 'letter), the second repeated character is often missing. If I type a bit slower, the problem is resolved.
Technically, this should not be a keyboard repeat issue, since it relates to two separate keystrokes, not holding down the key for repeat. Nonetheless, I set the repeat rate to max, the delay to minimum -- yet the problem persists.
It is very distinctly an issue with speed. My friends who type at a more moderate pace have no problem. In other words, it doesn't appear to be a defect particular to my machine. Rather, it is seems like a parameter that is just not capable of recognizing keystrokes in such rapid succession.
Note: I cannot reproduce the problem on a PC laptop, which seems to have a faster keyboard response.
Is this an OS issue that can be fixed with a hack? Or is this a limitation on the hardware?

My third defective macbook did the same thing after coming back from RSD repairs which included a keyboard replacement. If you didn't hit each key with a very deliberate stoke, it had a good chance of not being recognized. My fourth macbook has other issues but it does have a perfectly functioning keyboard now. My first defective macbook had sticking keys due to excess glue under the keys.
Amazing with something as simple as a keyboard, apple still can't get it right. This is the first device in almost 30 years of using and buying computers I've ever had to worry about a stupid keyboard working.
I'd suggest you visit a store which sells macbooks and see if the behaviour occurs there as well.

Scan or take a clear photograph (with good lighting). Import in Photoshop. Clean it up, remove noise, etc. Straighten, etc.
Then decide whether Photoshop is the best tool for this job. It depends mostly on the logo design. In most cases Illustrator would be a far preferable choice for this type of work. Import the image in Illustrator, and start tracing the lines with the vector tools (pen tool). After finishing the line work, start adding the colours.
Done.

"I" keyboard button not responsive like other keys, help?

The letter "I" button on my keyboard on my Macbook Air 13-inch is sometimes not as responsive as the rest of the keys. While the rest of the keyboard keys require only a light touch or tap, the "I" key has to be pressed harder in order for it to work most of the time. Sometimes, it's fine. The only reason it's working while I'm typing this is because I'm making sure I don't mispell anything. It's become a huge pain when typing book reports and essays and I'd really like to know what to do or what I can do to fix this. Please help.

If cleaning doesn't work, the only thing to be done is replace the keyboard. That's a heck of a lot cheaper than $1000 (but keep in mine, if you have damage inside, cleaning/replacing the keyboard isn't going to be the whole fix). If you definitely decide to buy a new keyboard, I'd take the old keyboard off and soak it in distilled water for a day or two, periodically working the problem keys, then tilt/shake it every which way to get as much water out as possible, then let it dry for a few days, until there's no possibility of moisture remaining inside. If it still doesn't work, nothing lost, as you were buying a new keyboard anyway.
You may also want to consider a BlueTooth/wireless keyboard. Sure, it's something else to carry around (if portability is an issue), but Apple's BT keyboard is about as small/light as possible. Something to consider.

FTP ReceiverChannel and OS commands help

I'm trying to execute an Operating System Command after processing.
I want to move *.dat files from the "ccc" Folder to the temp folder on the FTP server.
The command line looks like this "move \ccc\*.dat \temp"

I have an Receiver FTP adapter.
After Message Processing,I would like to move the file on the FTP server.
Under "Run Operating System Command After Message Processing" in the command line I write
<b>"ftp rename /Folder/filename.xml /newFolder/filename.xml"</b>
I think this is the right syntax.
I'm using permanently connection. so there should be no login issues.
But the rename on the FTP server is not done. The User is autorized to execute the rename command.
I have succesfully used the above command in DOS prompt.

Have firefox368 on ubuntu(linux) recent upgrade and now flashplayer10 will not be recognised as installed -by youtube and other sites , help? tried many instal/uninstal combos with no joy.

have tried taking off firefox 3 and reverting to 2 (was fine) until clicked to instal adobe flashplayer10 when prompted by site and firefox3 had returned - flashplayer showing as installed but when returned to sites ikea, youtube they asked to instal latest flashplayer.

I have an old Dell Dimension 2400 I plan to use as a replacement for the Sony Vaio when it pops. I've held out as long as possible because it lacks a pci or usb wifi and I really didn't want to run 50 feet of cat5 up a flight of stairs to it. [as i type this i think i remember where a linksys stick for it might be]. Yes I guess it's about time I just do that.
Don't laugh but the reason I held off adding a simple usb keyboard was just lack of space in my tiny bedroom. My setup is on two tray tables side-by-side. Sony Vaio is on left one, my lcd monitor and mouse are on the other. I barely have room to put a cup of coffee on the one with monitor and mouse let alone a full size usb keyboard lol.
