My keychain doesn't remember my passwords!

I accidentally deleted everything in the keychain, now, everytime when I try to connect to the wireless network, I will have to input the password, even if I check the box "remember the passwork into keychain". Could anybody help me?

You can find help in OS X's Help by searching on 'keychain'. Checkout the information in "Mac OS X 10.4 Help: Solving problems with keychains".
Hopefully that information will help you clear up the issue.
If that doesn't help and since this really has nothing to do with wireless networking, I suggest that you post in the OS 10.4 discussion area.

  • Keychain. won't remember server passwords

    Hello,
I have a MBP running 10.6 and an imac running 10.5.
Everything is on a Time Capsule network.
I have two separate logins on the MBP and just one on the imac.
Every time I try to access the other computer over the network, I have to re-type the user name and password for that machine.
Basically, i want to be able to press the button on the server list and connect straight to the networked hard drive.
However (in either direction) - even if I select the button "remember this password in my keychain" - the keychain fails to remember the password and I have to wait, even if I click out of the network server and back in...
I assume this is a problem with the keychains (on both machines)... can anyone provide me with a fix for this problem... many thanks
    Ben

Try going into Keychain Access (in /Applications/Utilities) then under the "KeyChain Access" item on the menu bar, select "Keychain First Aid" (or just simultaneously apply the ⌥⌘A keys.
Or, in Keychain Access, you could try just deleting any item that pertains to login to the computer with which you are trying to connect, then at next connection, be sure the "Remember password" checkbox is checked.
Another option that you might consider, once you can connect without having to enter username/password every time, is, once mounted, to drag the icon of the other computer onto your dock -- that will give you a one-click dynamic AFP mounting capability whenever needed.

  • Hey guys I got a used iBook from a family friend who had it password protected and he doesn't remember the password. Is there a way to get around this without wiping the computer?I don't have any of software discs and can't update or delete anything.Thanx

Hey guys I got a used iBook from a family friend that has it password protected.I can't update or delete programs or download anything without the passwords and he doesn't remember them.Is there any way for me to get around these without wiping the computer and starting from scratch?

    Hello,
Sadly without the system disk you can't do a lot. I would suggest you enable root user, log in as root and reset your administrators password, however you can't without knowing the administrator password first.
The only solution would be is to obtain the correct system disk or buy a retail copy of Mac OS X. But note, it depends on what version of the iBook you own depends, on what version of Mac OS X you will require.
You can still obtain the system disk or retail disks from online vendors, but they come at a cost.
System disk are grey in color, while retail disk have a big 'X' on it.
    Best of luck

  • Keychain won't remember WEP password

every time I try and get mail or connect to the internet via airport this machine fails, and after going through network diagnostics requires me to enter the WEP password ... EVERY TIME ... very annoying. I check the "remember this password" box (every time), but the machine WILL NOT remember the password ...HELP

Try opening your Keychain Access app (Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access) and going to Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid. There you can verify and repair problems in your keychain.

  • HT201263 i cant restore my phone, I keep getting a message to turn off find my iphone, cant get into it b/c my daughter change the password and doesn't remember the password

help, i need to restore my phone, I keep getting an error to turn off find my iphone,  I can't get into the phone b/c my daughter change the password and doesn't remember what she changed it to.

Remove an iOS device or Mac on which you can’t turn off Find My iPhone
If you can’t turn off Find My iPhone on the device, turn off the device so it goes offline, then remove it from Find My iPhone on iCloud.com.
Note:   If you have an iOS device, you can also remove your device by first erasing it—just follow the instructions below to remove a device you don’t have. You can later restore the device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.
                               Turn off the device.
Sign in to icloud.com/#find on another computer with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud).                                                      If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, select the offline device, then click Remove from Account. If you don’t see Remove from Account, click All Devices again, then click the Delete (x) button next to the device.                                                      If the device comes online again, it will reappear in Find My iPhone. To make sure your device doesn’t reappear, turn off Find My iPhone on the device (follow the instructions above to remove an iOS device or Mac), or if you have an iOS device, you can erase it, then remove it (follow the instructions below to remove an iOS device you no longer have).

  • Keychain won't remember my passwords?

I've always been pretty good about organizing my keychains on my computer but the other day accidentally deleted all passwords. I didn't think it would be that big an issue thought because after they all were entered and marked as "remember" it would just repopulate and all would be well. Instead, however, none of my passwords are remembered. I've gone into Keychain Access and can't find any issues. I've even run verify and repair within keychain.
Anybody know what i might have done or how to make sure my passwords are remembered from now on?
I've already searched to make sure this wasn't a question already and couldn't come up with anything... Any feedback is appreciated.
    Thanks!

Are you referring to web site passwords, using Safari? They are "remembered" by storing them in the keychain.

  • "Secure Login" add doesn't remember Yahoo passwords

    Hey,
I have recently switched from Opera to Mozilla and I'm still getting used to it.
I'm using an add-on to log in automatically on different websites. It works absolutely fine, up until it comes to Yahoo. For some reason, this is the only website I can't automatically log in. It's really frustrating because I have several e-mail addresses and I need to check them all the time.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you

hello, websites can specify if browsers should be able to save username/passwords & taht's the case with yahoo too (through the autocomplete="off" attribute in the login form in the html source code).
you can either [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/remember-passwords/ install an addon] or [https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html#remember_password use a bookmarklet] to circumvent this restriction.

  • On one site, Mozilla Firefox doesn't remember my Password any more, but Internet Explorer does.

Yesterday, I accessed the website for my bank. I entered the account #, then the password. I received an error message on the password, although I was almost sure the password was correct. I clicked "don't remember password" and was given the very password I had entered. I was really puzzled, but tried it again. It still didn't work. I then tried Internet Explorer at the advice of my bank rep. I created a new password on Internet Explorer, and was able to get right through to the website. Later, I tried Mozilla Firefox again with the original password. Again, the password was not accepted, but when I asked to access the correct password, I was given the new password I had entered on Internet Explorer. I'm very confused. Please help!

Hey Mez115, awesome to hear and thanks for reporting back! =)

  • I needed an ipod and found my brother's old one, but he is away at college and doesn't remember the password. Is there any way to get past the screen lock or find it out?

I tried guessing, but niether himself or I could find out what it is. Please help. It isn't like I stole it. It was just in the far reaches of a drawer, long forgotten and I"m trying to revive it. Thank you.

Connect the iPod to its syncing computer and restore via iTunes. If iTunes asks for the pascode and you can't enter the passcode aor you do not have the syncing computer, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode:

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you previous synced to the computer then you may be able to recovery use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:

  • Keychain Problem. Certificates and Passwords are not remembered.

Every time my macbook comes back from sleep I have to enter in all the passwords for each application. iChat, Mail even my wireless network wep key. It doesn't remember any passwords. Also websites aren't displayed correctly. They have missing images and forms are unreadable. When I open up Safari's activity window there is a bunch of server certificates not valid problems. I can't use facebook, pandora player doesn't load because the server certificate is not valid, ebay, any site with a form is impossible to use. It happens in firefox and safari. My PC opens the pages perfectly. I think this all has to do with keychain. Any ideas?

Finally solved the problem. I feel like an idiot. I had the date set to 2005 on my mac causing problems. It didn't remember any password, network key lost every time it woke from sleep, and had "server certificate not valid" problems with almost every website. Set date to current date and all problems went away.

  • Yosemite won't remember email passwords

I have 6-7 email accounts, from [email protected] to [email protected], to [email protected], and so on. Ever since upgrading to Yosemite, my iMac doesn't remember the password for two of these accounts the [email protected], and one of the cox.net accounts (but only one). It asks and I enter them over and over. When I finally give up in frustration and hit cancel, the dialogue box disappears, and both those accounts can receive and send email. Next time I boot up, same thing all over again. What's going on?

Try deleting the passwords from Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.

  • HT201441 How can I take someone's account off my phone if they don't remember the password or email address used to set it up?

I lent my iphone 4s to a friend who set it up with his Icloud and when I tried to do deactivate the phone so I could start using it again with my Icloud It now asks for the previous persons email adress and password. He now can remeber either and we have no way of deleting the account is there anothere way around this?

There's no way around it.  If the previous owner can't remember his ID, he can try to find it as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625.  If he doesn't remember his password he can reset the password as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2617.

  • Account logged In but can't remember the Password

The tittle sums it up, my boss has a skype account and has been logged for 1 year in that computer and forgot her password, now shee need to change computer and doesn't remember the password (not even the user)... so it's there a way to see the password for a logged account?

Hi, HernanCortes, and welcome to the Community,
Hopefully the account's registered e-mail address is still valid and working.  You can see the Skype account's name by reviewing the profile details; the account name will appear at the very top of the profile window.
If the account is still logged in, click on Skype -> Change Password.
More ways to change an account password (seeing as you did not specify which version of Skype is being used on which operating system) can be found in these FAQ articles:
    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA109/i-can-t-sign-in-to-skype
    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA95/how-do-i-change-my-password
To answer your question, no; there is no way to see the password.
    Regards,
    Elaine
