My keychain passwords are showing up in a friends computer.

Hi.
I recently helped a friend upgrade from OSX 10.6 to Mavericks. Everything went smoothly until we went to log her in to some of sites like her email or Facebook.
When she tried to log onto Facebook, my login information autofilled.
I've never entered any of my information onto her computer and I can't figure out why that would be happening. My only guess is that my computer was on the same network at the time were setting hers up.
Does that make sense?
I'm guessing resetting the keychain might work but she's a client so i don't want to get this wrong.
Any help in the right direction would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance for your time.

  • Mavericks update locked me out of my Macbook Air and insists on a keychain password to let me in.nto my computer at all because it keeps asking for a keychain password, and I've never had one.

I just updated Mavericks because I was unable to get Google Chromecast to work with my MacBook Air.  When it rebooted it insisted on my entering my login keychain for every single program on the computer.  I have no idea what a login keychain is, and my password doesn't work.  I can't get past the opening page and my only options are to enter the login keychain, sleep, restart, or shutdown.  What do I do?

Thanks.   My problem is that I never had a keychain login password, and even if I did I can't get past the login, so I can't change my keychain password or delete keychains.  All I can do are enter the keychain login or reboot, which puts me right back where I started.

  • Somehow my husband's internet searches are showing up on my WORK computer, which he has never touched. What kind of corruption do I check for on both computers?

I work in a community college library in the back office. I am using a computer with the corporate version of Windows 7. On MY home computer I have Windows 8 and my Husband has a computer that has either Wndows 7 or Windows 8. Mozilla Firefox is installed on all three. My husband has never used my computer at work, but this morning I found items that he had searched that came up on my WORK computer. I am having trouble with my bookmarks having disappeared on my WORK computer and IT had me completely uninstall Mozilla Firefox yesterday. I reinstalled the newest version of Mozilla Firefox today. I still do not have any bookmarks, even after saving new ones and now I find information that my husband searched on his computer at home showing on my work computer. How can that happen and what needs to be done to fix whatever corruption seems to be going on?

Some search engines save prior searches. To stop the sharing,
each of you need your own accounts, and sign out when not active.

  • IChatAgent keychain password

    Hello All
Every time I restart my Mac Pro, I get the following window...
iChatAgent wants to use the "mykeychanename" keychain.
    Please enter the keychain password.
That is just an annoyance. But the annoyance got worse. When this window does not show up, iChat is unable to connect. Even worse, I cannot open any other applications except for the few that opened on login. Yahoo Messenger is one of the apps that opens on login and this cannot connect either. So, I have to restart the Mac Pro over and over until this keychain password dialog shows up. Can take up to ten restarts.
I have repaired permissions...ran first aid...nothing seems to fix this issue.
I brought the machine into the Apple Store, they told me there was nothing wrong, that I probably need to do an archive and clean install of the OS. I did this and it is still occurring.
Another weird occurrence, which I have no idea if it is related...while using my Mac Pro, the USB ports can die at any time. My SoundSticks speakers can go out. My iPhone or iPad can stop charging. I can't connect a digital camera or GPS for update. When I restart, they work again. Just don't know for how long. It could be five minutes, could be five days.
Both are such an inconvenience. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Cooch

Keychain is an Apple technology dating back to OS9 that saves commonly-used passwords for web sites, your email, etc. It matches the web site or applcaiotn to waht's stord and reloads the password to save re-entering it all the time.
What are you doing when the computer asks for a keychain password? Usually you can access the Keychain Utility's stored info using your administrative password.
It would help if we knew your Mac OS version. "iOS 6.1.2" in your profile is not a computer OS, but used only for iDevices. Doing "About this Mac" from your Apple menu wil show your actual Mac OS version. Once you have it, you should change your profile to match that--it will get you faster help for future questions.
If you let us know the OS version, we can get you moved to the forum for that version, where you should get faster help with Keychain issues. This forum--although it's hard to tell from the unfortunate choice of labels--is for iMacs made before 2006 and doesn;t get as much traffice as forums for newer Mac models.

  • How do I change my keychain password on my iMac?

Currently my login password and my keychain password are the same in OSX 10.9.1.  For additional security, how do I change my keychain password so that it is different from my login password?

don't think that's possible your login if you are administrator on the computer is what goes in the keychain too
if you want to give access to people to the computer whom you do not trust with the keychain access then you should consider making user accounts for them with the rights you choose

  • KeyChain Password Keeps Popping Up

(Only) ... so far .... on my daughter's User Acoount, when she is in Safari, etc. before she can use the apllications she is trying to use, the Key Chain Password window opens up each and every time and she has to click on the cancel button each time before she can go on. Where and What neesd changing in the Preferences/ Other so this doesn't keep happening ?
    Thanks

    Hi Eric,
if you do not know the password of her keychain then there is no way to change the password. This is what makes the keychain so secure: no password - no access.
By default, both your login and your keychain password are the same. Once you log into your account the keychain is opened and all applications that need a particular password to perform their duty can automatically retrieve that password from the keychain without any user interaction.
However, once your keychain has a different password it will not open on login. The applications will still try to access the stored informations but cannot do so, without giving them the keychain password. That is why these windows pop up, asking you for the keychain's password.
So, either you come up with the correct password and then change it to one that matches your daughter's login password or you will have to delete the keychain: In Keycain Access, choose Keychain List from the Edit menu and then delete the "login" keychain. Deleting the keychain removes the keychain from the Keychains list but does not remove the keychain file from your disk. If you remember your password later, you can recover the items stored in the keychain by choosing Edit > Keychain List and adding this file.

    DO A BACKUP FIRST
Use your recovery partition so you can reset everything.(power up up holding the COMMAND R keys and restore OS X You can do a restoration and start from square one.
Your profile does not disclose the version of OSX but from the forum you posted in I assume your are running 10.7 Lion, which is wnat a Mac uses. You have listed in your profile iOS and a iPhone, iOS is used for iPhones, iPads, iPods...mobile devices, and is quite different from OSX which is used by Mac computers.
As well as the year and model ID of your mac. (You can find this info by clicking on the Apple logo in the menu bar>About this Mac>more info/system profile (depending on which OSX you are using) then posting it, so that we can eliminate the "guessing" of of how to possibly provide help/advice/suggestions to you
Without this info it is difficult to help someone reading this post to offer advice/suggestions.

Firefox is suddenly not remembering or filling in any of my passwords. All of the appropriate boxes are checked in the options/security tab, but it won't remember any passwords and shows none saved. How do I get it to remember and fill in my passwords again?

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie that you must allow: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"
Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the 'Cookies' and the 'Site Preferences'.
Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode.
In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working.
You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing".

  • Cannot access keychain. Passwords are all correct, "security code" sent to old cellphone number. Impossible to contact apple support.

I've been trying to access my iCloud's keychain for weeks now. Updating Yosemite somehow made my 13'' Macbook pro "log off" from the keychain and when I try to reconnect to the keychain, I am asked my iCloud password and then my security code, which I both enter successfully.
Then I am unexplainably asked to enter a "security code" sent to an old cellphone number of mine that is now deactivated. I click on "I don't have access to this number" and I am redirected to Apple's confusing silly-willy contact support website and find out that, since I am in China, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY for me to contact support.
Bottom line is, even though I have FULL CREDENTIALS to access the entirety of my iCloud's features(my passwords are all correct!!), I am stuck trying to access my keychain because of an unreasonable unsolicited and unwanted "security" measure, combined with a NON-EXISTING costumer support for China.
Apple is such a huge waste of time, I own an iPhone, a Macbook pro and a magic mouse, but one thing I'm sure of is, I will never ever buy anything else from this company again, because it just PRETENDS to sell the "perfect costumer experience".

  • Keychain no longer shows passwords

Since the change to Mavericks my keychain no longer shows passwords, my iPhone no longer logs onto Skype and I can't look up the password any more in my keychain.
    What has gone wrong?

What happens if you double click on a password in Keychain Access? I get a show password option.
You also might try running Keychain First aid and as a last resort, try resetting the original keychain.

My iMac running 10.7.5 has suddenly developed the habit of asking for my keychain password every 10 minutes or so.  iTunes, mail and airport are the usual requesters. It's making me nuts!  And no, I have not recently changed my password to start this new issue.

    Hello dowaco
Try running Keychain First Aid on your keychain or just rese your Keychain to create another keychain to see if that resolves the issue of the repeated prompts for the password.
