My kid locked the touch screen and it wont unlock?? help

my daughter took her iphone 3g to school and a fellow class mate locked the phone and does not know the password? How can I reset the phone with out getting the thing to lock up for an hour??

Will have to be restored via iTunes. Don't let it sync before you restore it thus it will restore with your last backup (before the code was put on).
If you do accidently sync (or already did) then you will have to restore and choose NOT to load backup else it will put the code back. Thus you have to reset all settings and preferences again and lose any saved data (eg: notes, app settings, etc...but you can sync back contacts and media etc).

  • Dropped my phone and now I see almost-transparent lines on my lock screen and the touch screen doesn't work. Help?

I was walking to my garage when my iPhone slipped out of my hand and fell on the floor. I looked at it and saw strange almost-transparent lines on my lock screen. I tried to unlock my phone, but it wouldn’t let me do anything. It was almost as the touch screen wasn’t working. I turned it off and plugged in my phone to the charger and it started up automatically, but it still looked the same and wouldn’t work. I think that my iPhone 5 might be broken? Please help!

  • My nano's power button is jammed in. I can't wake it up to use the touch screen and I can't put it to sleep to save the battery. The only way to wake it up is to plug into computer. How do I get it unjammed?

The power button on my nano appears to be jammed. I didn't notice until I tried to check the distance on my pedometer while on a walk, because the music was playing fine. I just couldn't wake the touch screen to do anything. It plays fine. Anyone know how to fix this?

You'll need to get it serviced.

  • Is there a way to check if the touch screen and display works whilst iPod is apart?

    Hi,
I pulled my iPod Touch 4G apart up to the circuit board in order to pull out the headphone socket.
Before I pulled it apart, the screen was cracked but everything was perfectly visible and the touch function worked perfectly.
Because the screen was cracked, when I pulled the iPod apart, I obviously lost small chunks of the screen.
Now when I plug the two plugs from the LCD screen into the circuit board and put the iPod together without screws, it looks like this:
    http://s251.photobucket.com/user/matt9210/media/2013-06-19014523_zps86e6bc6e.jpg .html
So I'm not sure whether buying a new screen is the answer, because I'm worried it will still have the same effect on the new screen.
Another question: The headphone socket wasn't working. I had to hold the earphones in order to get any sound, and knocking them would lose the sound. I checked with other earphones before opening the iPod, so it's a problem with the iPod. What do I do with the headphone socket to avoid this problem?
Also, is this good enough to replace the iPod screen? A lot cheaper than I thought, thought I'd check what the catch is.

  • HT1414 My 4th gen iPod touch is slow and has a lot of lag time with the touch screen and home button. It's just slow. Its a 32 gb thats barly half way full and im very disappointed. what do i do?

My 4th generation iPod touch is super slow and sometimes i have to click the home button multiple times before anything happens. Its up to date and is a 32 gb but barely half way full. My friends have the same kind as i do, and they have the same problem. Mine is a little over a year old and i'm VERY disappointed in something that i spent over $300 for. What am i supposed to do to make this peice of crap work like it's supposed to? I paid a lot of money for it and i expect it to work but the only thing i've heard so far is "turn it on and off." Yeah... cause that solves everything. Does anyone know how to help me?

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
Also, sometimes restoring the iPod helps.

  • I have Ipad 2.  When I touch an icon, a box forms around it and then I have to tap it twice to open.  The box is messing up the touch screen and when I go into some apps they open, update then shut down.

I have an Ipad2.  All of a sudden when I touch an app or select anything, a box forms around the icon or word and then I have to tap it twice to open it.  So everything I do I have to touch 3 times.  Also now when I open some of the apps, they open, update then close down.   How do I get rid of the box.

You might have turned VoiceOver 'on'. See if triple-clicking the home button turns it off, and if it does then cahnge what Settings > General > Axxessibility > Triple-Click Hme is set to.
Otherwise your need to use the 'touch to select, double-tap to activate' process to go into Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver and turn it off.
The manual (http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad) also says that you should be able to switch voice-over off by connecting to your computer's iTunes :
Turn VoiceOver on or off in iTunes: Select iPad in the iTunes sidebar. In the Options section of the Summary pane, click Configure Universal Access. Select VoiceOver, then click OK.
So select Configure Universal Access at the bottom of the Summary tab and set Seeing to Neither

  • HT5076 The record button on my garageband does not respond/work. I can play, rewind, etc. The touch screen is fine. Please help.

I recently backuped up all my apps and music/etc to the icloud. I had my ipad 4 touch screen repaired. I got thee ipad back in perfect working condition. however, when I launched garageband....I tried to record but the RECORD BUTTON does not respond. This is not a touch screen issue...I can press play, rewind, I can select instruments, I can play the virtual instruments etc. I tried rebooting my ipad and I also deleted and re-downloaded garageband. The issue is the same.
    Please advise.

    Did it work before?
Does iHome say it is compatible with a 4G iPod with iOS 6.1.3? Sometimes an iOS update will break compatibility.
Make sure the iPod is fully seated in the dock. The case of the 4G is different than previous iPods and thus if the dockl\ was not designed with the 4G in mind it may not fully seat.
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod and dock for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Reset the dock
    - Sometimes this works:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Or it may just be not compatible

My Ipod touch isnt working ... i think its locked but the touch screen now doesnt work? Help!

Connect the iPod to your computer and charge it for at least an hour and then try to restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer.  If it asks for an passcode and you do not know it place the iPod in recovery mode to bypass the the passcode.  For recovery mode see:

You cant unlock your phone unless you put in your password. It may be possible that the apple store could do something about it.

  • HT2907 How do you stop inadvertent contact with the touch screen? Why no Lock Button?  Doesn't anyone work out at Apple??  MY Gen 7 also doesn't link to workout equipment automatically like my Gen 6 and I can't stop the bloody voiceover.  Any thoughts?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IOS7 installed OK to my iPhone 4S and worked OK for a while but I have somehow managed to completely jam my iPhone 4s. The touch screen won't work except for up and down gestures (some of the time). I can't make or answer calls, I can't even power if off. I can't access the hardward ID which Apple support seems to require for Chat.
It might have happened when I was accessing my camera bypassing the lock screen!
All I know is that the thing is now useless and it looks like I will have to wait for the battery to run down to see if powering it back up afterwards will solve the problem.

I have since discovered the "hold down home key and power button" together for a few seconds and this seems to have worked .... phew!
