So first I'd say that it's not a good idea to start a new apple id if you have a large purchase history. You may not transfer purchases between apple IDs. You should consider some other options listed here http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37 Primarily the option where you or your children have seperate icloud accounts/email accounts that sync their contacts apart from yours. You may use your apple ID for purchases and use a different one for icloud/email/etc.

Apple TV and iTunes not able to see each other
I think I have found a bug in either iTunes or Apple TV. My network configuration is a bit complicated so I will describe it first.
Cable modem into my house hitting a Linksys WRT330N router at a central box in my laundry room. From there my house is hard wired to different rooms of the house. One goes to my office where I have a Apple Extreme N airport, connected to my PowerMac and my iTunes library. Again out of the central point in the laundry room again hard wired I have a wire going to my living room, where I have another Apple Extreme N airport, this is where my Apple TV is hard wired too. I have all the latest firmware and software installed on all my devices. Also both Airport Extreme's are setup using bridge mode and letting the Linksys serve the IP addresses for my network.
Now to the problem. I can not explain when or why but my Apple TV and iTunes are not able to see each other after about 48 hours. I have tried all kinds of troubleshooting steps including changing my connection from being hard wired to wireless connecting directly to the Airport Extreme my iTunes computer is connected too. I know my network connection is good as I can see trailers and pull up video's from uTube.
The only way to get them to see each other again is to do a factory reset of my Apple TV. After I do this they can both see each other again. But again after about 48 hours they lose the ability to see each other. I have taken these steps twice now to fix the problem
I just finished reseting my Apple TV and am going to watch it to see when it stops working the next time.
All of these problems started the other day when I introduced a new Apple Extreme N router in my my network. The airport Extreme seem to be working fine with my PS3 and XBox 360 that is also connected to it. So I don't think it's the router that is causing the problem.
If I had to guess I would say something in the Apple TV is locking up. Although I have tried power cycling the Apple TV which does not fix the problem. I'm going through 3 routers to get between the Apple TV and the iTunes library somehow it appears the Apple TV is losing it way.
I welcome any help as I don't want to have to keep factory resetting my Apple TV to keep it working.Fascinating just reading about your setup. I have a WRT350N and have noticed that it will drop its speed, sometimes down to 1Mbps. It seems to do so at about the same time every day, but usually comes back to speed in about 5 minutes. In my experience, the Apple TV will disconnect if the speed falls this low. Try monitoring the Linksys with Netstumbler, Vistumbler, or just in the Windows Network utility.
Check the "lease obtained" and "lease expired" times for your router to see if that is when the network fails. I've just finished reading an angry thread over at the Linksys forum about the WRT330N where someone mentioned that the router wasn't renewing its lease.
"I cannot set it run off automatic DHCP from the WRT330N, the router will not assign it an IP every time the lease expires, causing me to have to manually set an IP on the Print server. That's annoying. Having the router drop IP's to individual machines after 12-48 hours...very annoying."

If that is the problem, then I would consider setting up a Static IP address for your Apple TV. You can do that through the user interface -> Settings -> Network -> Configure ... (Quite intuitive as you only have change IP address and the subsequent details remain the same.)
My router assigns IP Addresses in the ranges of 192.168.1.100 ->149. The idea here is to choose an address outside of that range but is not greater than 192.168.1.253 (and should not end in the number 1). You shouldn't have to change the linksys router as long as 50 clients are assigned in that range. You'll have to figure that out by accessing your router webpage at browser address 192.168.1.1 -> the default password is "admin" (without the quotes).

I've updated to iOS 7 on various devices but non of them will play videos that I've uploaded to shared photo streams. They play on the device I've uploaded them with but not on any of my other devices on anybody I've shared with.
You would lose photo stream photos older than 30 days from your my photo stream folder. Tto keep them save them to the camera roll first. To do this in iOS 7, open your my photo stream alburm, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon on the lower left, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
The photo streams from others should reappear when you turn it back on. Worst case, the owners of the shared photo streams would have to re-invite you. -
I recently got the iPhone 4s, but my iPod has a lot of apps with a lot of data on them and don't want to start over. I already synced my iPhone from the computer that had all my apps from my iPod, how do i transfer the data over, the other apps did. But some reason the app Clash Of Clans did not. Thank you.
If I wiped my phone I wouldn't have the contacts on my phone to send to my self. I would need to take just the contacts from my back up. I would have to do this through iTunes and I don't see how I can just extract the contacts only from my back up. From what I can figure out it is all or nothing

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

To help prevent the last backup from being overwritten and thus erasing the Messages from the last backup turn off autosyncing so that you have to overtly start a sync. To turn off go iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods...". -

I have the same question. My son and daughter both received iPod Touch devices. I did not want to create a new Apple Id for each of them, I want to manage any application aquisitions and do not to have repurchase numerous apps I bought over last year on my iPhone for the kids to play with. Bottom line, is it impossible for for my kids to have these devices with the same Apple ID as my iPhone/iTunes account?

Basically, I have 2 problems:
1) When I export it shows this clip that's not in my normal project and it ruins my project by having this clip in there; it's like a glitch. I tried to change the clip, and and still doesn't make the project normal again. Tried a new sequence and dragging the project into HD Mode and to no avail.
My camera:
HD: 1080p
Settings: At Hd

Also, it's only displaying black bars above my project, even after exporting at 720p. I just don't want this random clip in my project or the black bars. I'm using Final Cut Express. Does anyone have any possible idea what this could be? Any help woud be much appreciated! I'm clueless on this.
IS ANYBODY OUT THERE? : )1) Is it a video clip? Something you recognize? To be clear, it's displaying at a point in your exported movie but doesn't appear at all in the sequence?

The image in question is next to my own entry in the address book. If I open the padlock any change in the selected image appears set but when I send an email the default image still appears so I cant even change it let alone achieve my goal of just not having a silly icon/image next to my name. I actually dont want an image at all, I want my recipients just to recieve my email. I think its really unprofessional to have silly images assigned and I cannot stand to send emails this way. Really appreciate if anyone could help me rid this daft image from my emails and contact app. I just dont get the point of not having control over this silliness myself. Apologes for being grumpy but i just wasted and hour and half trying to simply stop this happening. Really frustrated. I cant use my macbook pro for emailing as they look unprofessional and silly if sent from the mac.

It doesn't show when you send mail. It's only there to tell you which user sent the mail. It does NOT show up on any mail you send. It should be the image that you selected in System Preferences> Users & Groups > Your Account. That is where you can change it, and it will "stick." -
Is there a way to have 2 or more text boxes and not have them cancel each other out?
In the past you could overlap text boxes, but now when I place a text box to close to another it will completely make the other disappear. Is there something I need to change in my pages setting to allow this function, or do I just need to use the iWork 09?
ANSWER:
-click "Format" (the paint brush on the top right hand side of the window)
-click "Arrange" (3rd box on the top right hand side of the window)
-Under "Text Wrap" you will see a drop down menu that defaults to "Automatic"
-click "Automatic" and select "None"
You will have to do this for each text box. Once thats done you can move the boxes as close as you want. -
Does anyone has same problem? i tried everything and also turn of firewall but no luck. Trying to transfer photo from iPhone 6 to mac using airdrop but can not detect device. both wifi and bluetooth are on as well.
Not sure if this will help but I had a similar issue with iTunes not locating my iPhone 5 IOS 8.0.2. The resolution for me (so it seems right now) was to 'forget' my network on both phone and macbook pro. I rejoined the networks, rebooted each and so far so good.

I just downloaded ios 7 for both mine & wifes phone this morning - I've used my apple ID for both (helps me find her frequently misplaced phone) and then a series of messages came thru as my first call came in that I just clocked "ok" - and now my wifes phone is also getting my texts... please advise asap - I can't find anything in settings to rectify.
