My Toshiba laptop can't start up. An indicator light is on even if the laptop is off.

Hello. I am a bit nervous about my laptop now. Last night I hibernated my laptop. For the next 24 hours, I turned it on and it shows a weird condition. It will open and shows the logo of toshiba then suddenly shuts down with a slight "beep" sound. So I tried removing the charger, removing the battery, pressing the power button for 60 seconds. After placing the battery again, the orange led indicator for battery opens and was changed into white. Take note: the laptop is off. Kindly help me with this. I don't know what to do. The laptop won't start, it is a toshiba satellite. I am avoiding to spend money for laptop repair. Please help.

Hi!! You should try the recovery feature in W7. Some times it can be accessed through safe mode. On my model it's easier to use the system repair disc. You can find out how to create that here.

These are basic things you need to know if your going to own a Toshiba laptop.

Here's what the recovery looks like. You have 5 options to help you. The Dos option can really help if you are familiar with Dos. In Dos you can do a chkdsk---sfc /scannow--- and a whole lot more. Start with the Repair option first and work your way down.

You can try a few things, but if they fail then only reinstalling OS X will fix the problem. Try the following:
Delete caches to resolve some startup problems:
Boot into single-user mode. After the system prompt appears enter the following lines pressing RETURN after each:
/sbin/fsck -fy
Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
** The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
*** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***
If this message is returned repeat the command until the OK message is received. If you repeat the command more than seven times without receiving the OK message, then your drive cannot be repaired. Do not proceed beyond this point.

I recently installed Panda Internet Security 2012 (about 12 days ago), initially iTunes worked fine as usual but within the last few days I've been unable to open it with the same messages appearing. I've read through some of these pages and tried everything that's been advised, uninstalling and reinstalling while internet and laptop security is swithched off, downloading tools to completely remove anything related to iTunes, tried it in Safe Mode, nothing has worked. I've also noticed that in the start menu when I click on iTunes, it says '(empty)' where it should have the logo and ability to start the program, does this mean it doesn't download + install properly each time I've tried? Any help would be enormously appreciated.

Try this:
- When you receive the error message that is described in the "Symptoms" section, click Restart.
- Press F8 repeatedly as your computer begins to restart. This triggers the Windows Advanced Options menu.
- Use the arrows on your keyboard to select Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.
(Also, You can try Safe Mode and do a "System Restore" from there.)
***Last Resort, you will have to edit the registry and this may prevent your computer from booting***
- boot your system and tap away at F8
- Select Safe Mode
- After Windows loads into safe mode.
- Start >> Run >> “regedit” Press Enter.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
- Look for the GinaDLL Key
- Select and delete this key and this key ONLY. DO NOT delete the entire Winlogon folder of keys.
- Close Regedit with the RED "X"and reboot the machine

Can't start mysql

when I type "rc.d start mysqld" it displays busy for a while, then fails. At this point it does not generate an error message. I have changed the permissions of /var/lib/mysql recursively to 777. I have also created the mysqld directory in /var/run and given it 777 permissions. I hope I have included all the relevant files.
I have read every suggestion on the internet and gotten nowhere. Please help a noobus out. Thanks in advance.

I seem to have had an issue with mysql as well and it appears to be that I don't have a sock file as I have checked /var/run/mysqld for mysqld.sock and it does not exist so would that be what is stopping mysql server from starting and if so how do I create the sock file ??

Update - Actually I solved my problem to, it was to do with my log files filling up but that also led to the bigger problem of a failing HD oh what fun anyway got there before any major data loss.

Now I've checked the forums and followed the advice of uninstalling all Apple applications, rebooting, and reinstalling iTunes.
This is not working. I've tried installing as Administrator but doesn't make any difference at all.
There must be a way to fix this? I'm not a tech geek but I want to avoid having to take my laptop back to factory settings to sort this out.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Can Not start Database after Server is restarted !!!!

I am building a oracle Hyperion Essbase and planning sandbox on my laptop using VMware 9.0
and 11gr2 as ny database.

Can't start up; stuck at gray screen- started w/ Skype

hi all. my mom's Macbook Pro can't start up. it gets stuck at the grey screen w/ the Apple logo and spinning pinwheel every time. nothing else is plugged into the laptop aside from the power cord.
here's what i tried already, but to no avail:
- Reset SMC
- Reset PRAM
- Hold shift while starting up... nothing happens. So can't start in safe mode
- Used install disk to run Disk Utility diagnostic: Ran into a bunch of Disk Permission errors and fixed those. Nothing wrong on the Disk itself.
- Held Command-S while starting up and typed "fsck -fy". Got "File system was modified" at first. Ran it again and got clean bill of health there
- Held "d" while booting, ran the hardware test and it checked out fine.
after all of the above, tried waiting for it to restart for 15 minutes and still same spinning wheel.
this all started when a Skype update couldn't install, so i got rid of the current Skype. then tried downloading the new Skype. after it supposedly downloaded fully and it was automatically processing in the download pop up window (e.g. something about "writing", "image", etc.), it got stuck and froze the computer for at least 5 minutes. at that point, i help the power button until it turned out. then this started...
please help! thanks!
PS: not sure if this has anything to do w/ the problem, but after this happened, i tried to use Disk Utilities to make an image onto an external hard drive and it gave me an "operation timed out" error.

MacBook Pro 5,1 came with 10.5 Leopard installed, so it has at least that, if not upgraded to 10.6.

It appears your mother is running Norton Antivirus? or other Symantec programs. If the Antivirus, recommend removing it, and if she wants an antivirus, install ClamXav from http://www.clamxav.com.

I tried so many times to take it to factory settings, even then once I restart same problem occurs.
I am not able to acces most of my application
Even Google Crome is not working, VLC player is not working,
I am not able to Identify what is the problem about.
Please some one help me to slove this issue.

The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing

When I brought up my laptop I was prompted to update i-tunes. The download went bad for whatever reason and now I can not access i-tunes. If I click on the icon I get this error message "The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." When I unistall and then try to re-install itune I get this message during the process "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start sustem services." HELP. I have not changed anything since my last time on the computer but now I am unable to access/dowload itunes to backup my phone and play my music.

If the above doesn’t do the trick entirely, then use the instructions in the following as it applies to the version of Windows you are using:
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
You may be required to boot into safe mode to complete the folder deletion process.

Can't start gnome-session after system update.

hi all
I have done a whole system update .
pacman -Syu
and now I can't start the desktop environment.
I tried to delete the xorg.conf and create new 1 and then copy it to /etc/X11
X -configure
but that didn't work.
and when I am trying to create new xorg file I got an error message telling me that the number of screens detected is not matched , I am using a laptop .
I checked ~/.xinitrc and /etc/rc.conf and everything is right.
any suggestion??

and I can't log in, I just got the black screen and when launching startx I got the gnome shell session but after 2 seconds of that I got a failure in Gnome and have to log out.
