My laptop died. I've dusted off my old iMac running OSX 10.2.8 and want to upgrade firefox to 3.5 or 3.6. Looks like I can't do that - where would I find older versions of firefox to update to?

My now dead laptop was running Firefox 3.6. It died. Now I have my old iMac out of storage. It has Firefox 2.0.0.1 on it. I'm using it now. Check for updates says I can go as high as 2.0.0.20. I'd like to upgrade the iMac to the most current operating system it can work with (right now it's at OSX 10.2.8), and then get Firefox up to the most current version this can run. I tried searching for older firefox versions to download, but can't seem to find them on your website. (I used search term "download Firefox 3.5"). I did this to check and see what OSX version they can work with. Let me know what I need to do. Thanks!

Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever release for Mac OSX 10.3.9 and earlier versions. <br />Get it here: <br />

Not having enough space on your hard drive is a problem in itself, OS X likes 10-20% free in order to operate smoothly. Right click on your hard drive icon and choose Get Info to see how much you have free. There are several free applications that will help you identify what is taking up so much space just Google it. Here's a CNet article on one

If music etc was purchased from itunes store then go to the itunes app on ipad and check purchased to see what you can redownload for free.
Assume you can't sync the iPad as you are on Tiger with old iTunes version.

The latest upgrade Maverick requires a MAC dated 2007 or later. Where is the date... It is NOT in "About this Mac".
I feel an older upgrade than Maverick might be better for my machine?
Is it possible to upgrade to ie, 10,7? or another recommended upgrade.
    How to proceed?

Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion or Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

  • Can I get iPhone 3GS backup off of an iMac running OSX 10.5 to restore the data on a new iPhone 5?

I bought a new iPhone 5 for my wife because her old 3GS was at its end.  I made sure to back up the old phone on her old iMac running OSX 10.5.  Got the new phone home plugged it in to the computer and failure ensued... Can't sync because the iTunes is too old, can't upgrade iTunes because the computer is too old... I have a backup on the computer is there any way to move it to my newer iMac running 10.8 to get some of her data back?  I tried to think ahead by backing up but failed to think about incompatibility issues... Any help would shorten my time in the doghouse,

You can certainly move the backup files but that will do nothing for the apps or media that is on the device.  Backups do not contain apps or media.
Where iTunes backups are stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system.   Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac:  ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
For the apps and media it will be necessary to move the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.  Creating a new user account on the new computer would be a good idea if you both use iTunes and want to keep your media seperate.

You an use your iPhone without connecting it to a computer.
But the product description for the iPhone clearly states that in order to sync with a Mac you must have OSX 10.6.8 or later. That version of the OSX is usually called Snow Leopard. There are two mo recent versions of OSX. OSX 10.7.x (Lion) and OSX 10.8.x (Mountain Lion).
If you can upgrade your computer to at least Snow Leopard I suggest you do so.

  • I currently have Photoshop CS5.1 on my Mac and want to transfer it to my newly purchased Mac Book Air. How can I do that?

I currently have Photoshop CS5.1 on my Mac and want to transfer it to my newly purchased Mac Book Air. How can I do that?

Just install it like you did the first time (do not try to transfer it from the old machine in any way) - you can download thru your account if you purchased it as a download originally - otherwise there is a link for downloading below. Your serial number should be available thru your Adobe account online if your registered the software previously.
    CS5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-product-downloads.html
If you like you can leave it on the first machine as a backup because you are allowed to have two activated installations.  If you wish to remove it from the older machine you should deactivate it first (open an application and choose Help -> Deactivate).

  • Where do I find older versions of quicktime?

I need Quicktime 7.0.4 or 7.1.0. I won't go into to much explination except to say that I have some applications that don't work with earlier versions and some applicatons that will not work with later versions.

I think one of those versions can be found HERE.

  • Firefox 4 is awesome, but the main backbone addon of the same i.e.IDM cc... that is not working with it...thats the main drawback for user like me which makes us to immediately shift to the older version of firefox, and stop using the new version 4...

Try to include the IDM cc version which works with firefox 4 tooo, like the all other older versions...

You might try using the add-on 'NoSquint' which allows numerous zoom options specific to each page you visit & keeps your settings - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/
If you want to go back to 3.6x, you will find it here:
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side.

  • Where to download an older version of firefox

I have an older Mac laptop running OS 10.4. Is there a compatible version of Firefox and if so, where would the downloan be located on your website?
    Thank you

There's a third party version of Firefox 4.0 which you can download from here: http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
Otherwise the official version is obtainable from: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • I recently installed Firefox 3.6.8 and all of a sudden I can't open/delete messages in revamped MS hotmail whereas I could with older version of Firefox

ever since I updated to Firefox 3.6.8 I can no longer open/delete/etc e-mail on MS Hotmail's revamped version which I could with Firefox's older version. I cannot even highlite messages, no nothing
    I use Windows Vista
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I installed new version 3.6.8 of Firefox

Similar problem here although it's since Hotmail changed (I guess it's rolled out in stages) for me not since I installed FF 3.6.8. The same problem occurs in IE8. Seems a Hotmail problem rather than a FF one but I';d really appreciate any help I can get.

  • I'm using an older iMac G5 (PowerPC) with Firefox and MacOs 10.5.8. I no longer am able to watch video clips because Firefox recently auto-updated to 3.6.24; is there an older version of FireFox that would work with my PowerPC, and where do I find it

I used to be able to watch video clips off a streaming website, but it's been getting more difficult and now it no longer works. I suspect that my older Power PC G5 Mac is not compatible with the newer Firefox version of 3.6.24. I suspect that if I used an older version of Firefox with my system, I could get back to watching video clips. Would this work, and if so, where can I download an earler version of Firefox that would be compatible with my Mac and MacOs 10.5.8?

You might want to consider extending the lifespan of your G5 by using a different operating system. I put [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lubuntu Lubuntu] on a G5 recently and it runs the newest Firefox just fine. Lubuntu (pronounced Loo-boon-two) is sort of an Ubuntu lite - a user-friendly version of Linux. There are many applications to choose from, and it's all free.
The PowerPC I did this on was one of the old Bondi Blue ones. Firefox had no problem running on it at all and has all plug-ins needed for video, audio, etc.. I gave it to a church and it's running fine for them.
You can download old versions of Firefox, but you'll just open yourself up to security problems if you do.
FYI: The Mac operating system is built on Linux.

THis is what the top of my iTunes U screen looks like when I am in my course. I cannot see anything on the right hand side to click on that takes me to an edit page.
The following is taken from Penn State University related to drop boxes:
None of the stuff they refer to is on my screen - neither this one or any others.
