My laptop failed to start up model hp pavilion dv2911us entertainment notebook pc.

Product model HP Pavilion dv2911us Entertainment Notebook PC
Problem: failure to start up,when I tried to perform a hard reset, the following symptoms were noticed ( LEDs glow , fan noise can be heard, the display remained black ( except for two lines of function keys information at the bottom of the screen and the computer failed to start up.
F10 key was pressed and the BIOS mode was entered. A memory test was done sucessfully but a hard drive test failed to respond.
What can I do to recover the computer without loosing my data.

You likely need a new hard drive and I would guess your old data is not accessible. Pull out the old hard drive and stop trying to access it because every time you do it lowers the already slim odds of recovering data from it. You need to attach it to another computer with a SATA to usb adapter and see if you can access the data in that manner.

    Problem:
Failure to start up. Upon trying opening the laptop, the following lines, in quotations,  were displayed.
    “ Windows Resume Loader
The last attempt to resume the system from its previous location failed. Attempt to resume again?
(use the arrow keys to highlight your choice)
    -          Continue with system resume
    -          Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu “
Surely, I have chosen the option “Continue with system resume”; however the display remained black but the laptop acted as if it was on because about 5 minutes later, the side of the laptop was warm as if it was working regularly.
Can you please diagnose the problem and tell me what to do?

  • Pavilion dv2700 Entertainment Notebook - broke down due to the design defect of this model

My laptop (Pavilion dv2700 Entertainment Notebook) broke down with a black screen. As far as I know, this problem is caused by the design defect of this model.
Please anyone can help me to solve this problem? Many thanks.
I contacted HP Customer Care by submitting the online questionnaire. The feedback I received from HP is that my laptop is out of warranty. I checked the links of repair/exchange or upgrading that HP provided. - They are frustrating and useless.
Both of the products and service from HP are rubbish. I will never ever buy a product from HP!!!

  • Tethering on a Laptop - "Failed to start Mobile Internet"

Hi, I've got a Laptop that will not tether.
Firstly, I've tried 3 different Blackberries all from the same service provider. All 3 of these devices are able to tether on other laptops/desktops.
I try to tether on this one laptop (Dell Vostro, not that it matters, I have other Vostro's and other Dells that work fine...) and it immediatly gives the error:
    Failed to start Mobile Internet
    There was a connection error.
I know I can tether with the Blackberry, I know the proper ISP settings... Any ideas? It fails immediatly.

    Hello Strider,
I like you to check out in device manager if you have under ports two ones named: RIM Virtual Serial Port v2(COMXX) where XX in my case is COM10 and COM11 but would be different in your case.
If you don't have these 2 virtual ports then somebody installed the DTM not under the 'Administrator' account. DTM will install also under a user account  and works OK except not for tethering which needs a standard modem driver via the 2 virtual ports.
I suggest to do a clean uninstall (see link)
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02206
under the current user account and then re-install DTM 610_b034_multilanguage.exe  under an admin account and give the user a link to the DTM (it is probably still on his/her desktop).
If  this suggestion helped, please, click the blue 'like button' and select the 'resolved' option. Thank you, matt.

I'm trying to re-install itunes on my laptop & I am getting a message that has stopped the re-install & it says: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device" (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."  The diaglogue box gives me the options to abort, retry, or ignore; when I tried retry and ignore the re-install process stays stalled & the dialogue box comes back & I don't want to abort & start this all over to probably end up with the same issue; what does this mean & what do I do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • My Laptop failed. Please help

Hi guys, so 3 days ago My laptop "crashed". I can't really find any other word to describe but basically I was unable to boot up pass the grey screen. It just shut down.
So I decided to go into the Recovery Mode to restore my Macbook from scratch, however, all I have done is failure. I cannot reinstall Mac OS Lion. I cannot install Mac Leopard from the disc. I only need a MAC OS X so I can get access to my encrypted WD Hard Drive and back it up from Time Machine.
All details of my case can be found from this quote, which is a thread that I started on a different forum.
Thanks for paying attention and please help me. I'm having exam in 2 days and now I'm stuck with this Safari-only brick.
Hi guys, I'm a new member of this forum. Right now I am posting this in Recovery Mode on my Macbook Pro. I'm having an exam in 2 days and now I am stuck fixing my laptop
My laptop is the early 2011 model 2.3 Ghz Macbook Pro. Since I bought it I haven't done any modification to the hardware. All I have been doing is surfing Internet and recently I have been playing Diablo.
I take care of my laptop but it fails me.
Recently I experienced terrible performance on my laptop. Starting with whatever that has to do with flash, anything, music from myspace, Youtube ..etc.. that is played on Safari, it just freezes safari and my Mac very often. Whenever I play Youtube, it normally plays smooth for 1 or 2 videos and then start freezing up, the video would be frozen but the sound still goes. It's very annoying.
Until 3 days ago, my Mac just goes frozen, everything, Finder, VLC ..etc.. in a time interval. I could not even watch a movie on my laptop, VLC just got frozen every 2 minutes. Even when I use Finder to open through my files, it just freezes often. I had to restart before being able to watch a movie.
Eventually, yesterday, everything goes back again. I thought the restart fixed my issue. Suddenly my whole macbook freezes. Let me say this again, MY WHOLE MACBOOK, everything. I have never experienced this, even my mouse, I could not do anything other than hitting the power button to force restart.
After this, I can't get my Macbook to boot up. It would not go pass the grey screen. The first time it starts up, it took me 30 minutes to fully finish the loading bar at the grey Apple screen. It let it load, thinking it would take a while then everything will be back into places. Then it shuts down. After that, I tried like 10 times but nothing happens, after passing the grey screen the macbook just shuts down itself.
So I went into a Hardware test. I tried several times but It always stucks at Pass Item 1, testing items. It would come to a phase when the mouse responsiveness is very slow and I could not stop it by Command + . like instructed but had to force shut down.
I went into Recovery Mode, verify my HD, repair it. I believe my HD is fine, the S.M.A.R.T status says verified. I'm lucky my Hard Drive is not failed. So I erase my whole HD to restore it fresh.
I have everything backed up on a WD Mybook 2 TB Hard drive. However I cannot use this by any chance because I foolishly encrypted my whole external hard drive. Normally everytime I plug it in I had to put my passcode through an application called "WD UNLOCKER". Now that I can't access to anything except the Recovery Mode. I could not unlock my HD to use the backup. I did try the Backing up from Time Machine option, however my Time Machine HD would not show up, simply because it is not unlocked yet. If anyone knows how to unlock this, or to access WD UNLOCKER from Terminal, please tell me.
I tried reinstalling Mac Os Lion from the Recovery Mode. The first time I let it start and went to work. After 6 hours I came back and it was stuck at "Downloading additional components .. ". It would not change, it was stuck. My internet connection is VERY stable because during the whole time, i use my iPhone to access the Internet.
I tried the second time reinstalling Mac Lion last night. It was going all right. It finished the first phase then got into "Downloading Additional Component" again, this time it was going VERY VERY slow. So I slept for 4 hours, I woke up this morning and saw my laptop screen on the Recover Mode with the 4 options shown, nothing has changed. I didn't know what happened but I don't think I will try downloading 4 GB of Lion again.
Last night, I also try installing Mac Leopard from the startup disc. But it took very slow. Nothing froze but the ETA was stuck at 21 minutes remaining and it would not move. So I think I will try this again today and leave it while I go to work.
I need to install some type of system on my Mac in order to get access to my Time Machine backup HD and restore it. If my Snow Leopard install is successful, I will upgrade it back to Lion by any mean.
Update : Installing Mac leopard failed twice due to : " Could not copy necessary support files ".
Thank you for paying attention to my post and read the whole thing. Please, please help me with this.

Go rerun the Apple hardware test, run the extended test, and let it finish.  It can take anwhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete.  Pass 1 is the memory pass and takes the longest time of the test to complete.
I've downloaded Lion several times, and it usually takes 3.5 to 4 hours. If your internet connection wasn't a fast one, although stable, it could take longer.
Everything you've described sounds like a failing hard drive. When you initialized it, did you do a security write of zero's to the hard drive? That also resets the bad sector table, and can help get a bit more life out of a failing drive. If not, boot up on the Leopard disk, bring up Disk Utility, and erase the hard drive, clicking on secruity options, and write zero's to the hard drive. This takes ahwile so let it complete. Then reinstall the operating system.
When you get the system going again, I would download SMART Utility to get a better readout on your hard drive's health. The hard drive can be failing before it trips what Disk Utility reports for the one SMART status.
