My Laptop giving me Unmountable_boot_volume blue screen.

I need Windows XP CD to repair, it didnt come with one, what do I do? whenver windows starts loading it gives me the blue screen, I can't even get to the log in screen. So I can't copy anything inside t windows file or anything. And I dont have the CD, but i read online that i need the CD, where can I download it from?
Thank you very much for your help

You could borrow a windows xp pro or home disk from a friend or someone who has one. and depending on whats causing the error, you may not need a disk. If a hard drive failure is causing the error, all the cd will allow you to do is get in and copy all your data off of it. but yes you need the xp disk to do a repair. You can search the internet for xp (pro or home depending on your version) and then .iso. it is slightly illegal, but unless you also download a serial or crack it shoiuld be ok. once you get the iso, burn it to disk and boot the machine off of it. choose the repair console instead of install. I cant remember exactly what to do after that, but there are guides on the internet to help you. Hope this can help you. if worse comes to worst, i can compress an XP image and send it to you. (ive had this error before)

  • UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME BLUE SCREEN

I have a Toshiba C655-S5123 error code UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME blue screen code:STOP: 0x000000ED (0xFFFFFA80026B15F0,0xFFFFFFFFC0000185,0x0000000000000000.0x0000000000000000)I can't boot in safe mode and can't access system repair.
I have disks for system repair and back up disks. Does anyone have any advice how to access or restore my computer?

Unmountable boot volume can mean the HD file structure is bad (software) or it can mean the HD hardware is failing.  Try booting from the system repair disk and if it will boot run CHKSK.  If you cant boot from the repair disk download the HD disk
utility from the HD mfr and boot from it and un it.
I suspect it will be hardware related.
    CHKDSK /R
Chkdsk disclaimer: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found  any data available on that sector might be lost so as usual backup your data.
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt.
Do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter.
Then reboot and let the test run.
It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors.
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/guide-to-using-check-disk-in-windows-vista/
See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.
    CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).
Copy/paste the results into your next post.

  • I have a new iPhone 4 and every time I plug it into my laptop I get the "blue screen of death", it didn't do this the first time because I downloaded all my music from iTunes but ever since it has done this.  Anybody have any insight?

I have an iPhone 4 and downloaded all my iTunes music to it.  Now when I connect it to my laptop I automatically get the "blue screen of death", does anyone have any insight into this problem?

This will happen if you have photos in your camera roll and an out-of-date scanner or webcam driver. See this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502

  • Why is Encore 6.0 giving me the "blue screen of death" when I try to create a menu?

When I purchased my student edition 6.0 (which I love by the way), Encore did not have any of the libraries loaded up on it. After reading some discussions, I downloaded the missing folders.
Now, when I try to create a menu, my computer shuts down and gives me "the blue screen of death" as they call it (a blue screen with white writting, counting up to 100%, and saying Windows is preparing to crash...or something about the hard drive crashing....I can't remember because it goes off the screen so quickly).
I've done this several times - my computer only does this when I try to create a menu in encore, and not in any other part of encore. It hasn't happened in any of the other programs either (Premiere Pro and Audition are the only other programs I have used so far), or any other times I have my laptop.
Because of this, I am not too concerned since it seems Encore is the problem. However, I do not want any other problems to escalade from this either.
Am I doing something wrong? Can someone please help me? I'm working on my Senior Thesis (a video) this year, and I really really cannot afford to have my computer crash on me.
    Please and thank you,
    Meghin

  • How to fix "unmountable_boot_volume" blue screen error on Pavilion dv7 2185 dx notebook

I turned on the laptop and it would only show the blue screen for a second and then cut off. I tried F7, F8, F9, F10, F11 and nothing seems to work. I tried starting it in the last good sector. I tried fixing it and nothing seems to work.
The blue screen also says - disable memory option (caching/shadowing).
I bought this latptop with the original Vista OS but I later received the Window 7 upgrade through HP. This laptop did not come with recovery CDs.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix the problem? Please help me

  • GE60 0NC-622UK laptop is stuck on Blue Screen can't login! please help..

Had this laptop for just one month, before it's all good. Windows 8 64bit.
In last two days, the mouse and touchpad became dysfunctional occasionally, able to move the pointer but just could't click on anything regardless of left or right, e.g. choose or open new. It would be working after logoff/relogin and reboot, but same problem still came up randomly.
Last night, I did the same thing to reboot the laptop after had the pointer dysfunction, but then it displayed a blue screen before the login with a error called 'System Thread Exception Not Handled', and then just stayed on this page would't reboot automatically (waited for 30 mins), so it left me no choice to shut it down by pressing power on/off button manually, afterwards with couple of times rebooting, it just kept going into this same blue screen and could't get into the system...Sometimes it would automatically start diagnosing before blue screen, ask me to restore or repair, but none of them fixed the problem, repeatedly stuck on blue screen every time...
And I don't have any windows 8 dvd, delivered box only has one for drivers and manual book.. so boot from dvd is not possible..
p.s. sorry about my english if caused confusion
    thanks..

Try starting Windows 8 in Safe Mode, its kinda difficult in Windows 8 to do you have to be very precise when doing it, right as the system boots you need to start spamming F8 sometimes you have to do Shift+F8.
You may want to disable fast boot in the BIOS so you have some time to get ready to hit the buttons, once you get the boot menu up try Start Up Repair first and see if it fixes anything then try booting, if noting then try safe mode and un-do anything you have done to the system recently.
Let me know how this goes.
    Really appreciated your help!
I get into troubleshooting page by pressing F3 when laptop was booting up, and changed start up with Safe mode which works..I've done many things in Safe mode, like updated drivers, run anti-virus program, deleted recent installed software, and then somehow the blue screen error was gone after reboot...It seems one of them must be the cause for that problem.
Anyway, my laptop is working properly now, thanks a lot, if error happens again in future i might still need some help

  • Every time I connect my Iphone 4 to my Dell laptop I get a 'blue screen of death' any ideas how to solve this?

For some reason, my iphone 4, and laptop don't seem to like each other. Every time I try and connect it, I get a 'blue screen of death' saying that my laptop is shutting down to prevent damage. Help?

    Sean,
Is there anything else you can tell us about the computer and phone?
    - Is this a new problem? Happening since new iTunes? Has it previously worked fine in the past?
    - How old is the laptop? What kind is it? What is the memory capacity? How much room left on Hard Drive?
    - Do you have any other iOS devices to test out this problem with?
Another question: What are you trying to connect it to your computer for? Apple has made it quite easy to do essentially anything for you over the air. Just a thought.

  • ITunes giving me repeated Blue Screens of Death

I recently wiped my hard drive, and I'm trying to restore my library from backup DVDs I made before the event. So far, every time I attempt to restore from these, I get either a BSOD or my computer freezes and I'm forced to restart. I can provide any additional information on request, and I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thank you!

I don't have Vista but here is some general stuff on stop messages that may help you get started:
If you are getting a blue screen stop, it would help if you could post the exact error message. It should be some sort of numbers and text -
    0x(zeros/letters/numbers) (CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
    For example:
    Stop 0x05 (INVALIDPROCESS_ATTACHATTEMPT)
Also is a file name mentioned in the error message? If so give the exact file name. This can be a very important clue to what is going on - it's often a driver problem. If you reinstalled Windows, did you get all your driver updates?
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), you can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Settings" button in the "Startup and Recovery" section
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
There is some general help on Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages here:
    http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm
For Vista freezing rather than a Windows BSOD, see this troubleshooting article:

  • At startup recovery laptop only goes to blue screen

At startup have the opption to start computer normally, which doesn´t work, or launch startup files, which loads the files then goes to a blue screen with white light and just sits there.  A new version of Mozilla-Foxfire was automatically downloaded at a previous startup. HELP PLEASE!

    HI,
Start your notebook in Safe Mode by pressing the power button and imeddiately begin tapping the F8 key. When given the option of which kind of safe mode to invoke, choose the normal Safe Mode (at the top of the list).
Now that you are in Safe mode you can use Microsoft Recovery to restore you PC to an earlier point in time before the problem began.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! It is a terrific place to find answers and information!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide. Learn How to Post and More How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?  I understand that you are experiencing a blue screen and then it shuts down. Have you made any recent changes to your system? Have you checked for viruses and malware?  MS Malicious Software Removal Tool Many people have used Malwarebytes with much success also. Have you ran MS Fix It to try and resolve difficulties. Have you done all your Windows updates? Have you ran the HP Support Assistant ?  Here is a link to Resolving stop (blue screen) errors in Windows 7 from Windows.com. To rule out hardware as the cause I would run the hardware tests.HP Notebook PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista) Next would by to try  a restore back to before this issue occurred.  HP Notebook PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore If the hardware has passed the tests and a restore did not help, I would do a recovery back to factory. HP PCs - Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7) There will be an option to backup your personal data to prevent loss during the recovery. If you have not previously done one, now is a good time. HP PCs - Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7) You may also choose to contact HP support for assistance at any time. Please contact HP support at Contact HP Support  To say thanks for replying please click the thumbs up icon below. If this yielded a solution for you, please tell people by choosing solution provided.   Best of Luck!

So earlier today my ipod gave me a notification that a new ios software update was avaliable so i began the update. Now everytime i try and turn it on, all it does is show the logo and then it goes to a blue screen and the bluescreen fades out to white and stays that way. Each time i try and turn it off it keeps repeating this process. How can i fix this?? Will my ipod be like this forever? HELP :'(

  • Having issues with iPad air.. It's constantly rebooting and giving me a blue screen. Anyone have a solution?

    iPad Air
    operating system ios8.1.3
I've had no success troubleshooting the problem I'm having with my iPad Air. Started after I updated the software to the new version . Once update was complete I encountered my screen looked funny with wiggly lines and then the screen turned blue. I tried to reboot it by holding down the home and the off at the same time but that only turned it off and then back on and the same thing happened all over again. Now my iPad air only continues to reboot when I turn it on. Is it possible for Apple or Mac products to get a virus? I'm hope someone has a solution to this problem I'd like to know if there's anyone else out there that's experiencing this issue with the iPad Air.

This is not a virus. It sounds like it could be a hardware problem.
First, try resetting your device. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, try restoring your device from backups, and if that doesn't help, restore it to factory settings (ie, do not restore a backup). See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If none of that helps, the issue is caused by some kind of hardware problem, and the device will need to be repaired or (more likely) replaced.

I just got a brand new iPad and I cannot sync a bunch of songs or photos without it just completely shutting down my laptop (PC)and giving me the "blue screen of death". I tried reinstalling iTunes, disconnecting any USB connections I may have and completely updating my lappy...but nothing works! Why can't apple just make something as simple as "syncing" work? Do I have to buy a Mac in order for my iPad to work properly?! Please help me out with this syncing problem.
