My laptop is consuming all battery and heating to much

Hi.. I'm running Archlinux on a HP Pavilion dv6 6154nr. Since I'd installed on it, it consumes around 25-30W and battery last like 1 hour, or and 1 hour and a half, when in Windows battery last like 2 hours or 3. CPU is heat like 64⁰C and im just running chromium with 5 tabs, without flash, and a terminal on Xmonad.
I have done every tutorial on archwiki, i have installed and configurated cpufrequtils, laptopmode, pm-utils, and it stills heating a lot.

  • IMovie '10 consumes all RAM and I can not export projects

A few days ago I upgraded to iMovie '10, but since then consumes all memory, close the application, I can not export projects. I upgraded my Macbook Pro from 4GB to 8GB of RAM, but the problem persists. I'd like to iMovie 9.0.9 but I do not know how to do

I have this same issue also, on my MacBook Pro. When I click 'export project' nothing comes up at all.
It's very frustrating and I have tried everything also:
    All files rendered
    Re-installed FCPX
The only change i've made since it has started happening was upgrading to Mavericks OS X 10.9.1. So it has to be something to do with that.
I was wondering and hoping if you have since solved the problem, and can help me with a solution to amend it.
If anyone else can help it will be much appreciated, and most thankful.

  • Battery and heating problem

Hi, recently my macbook has been heating up fast. Real fast, within 5 minutes of starting up my macbook, i can hear the fan running at high speed. And my battery life has significantly been shorten as well. At full charge, it can last me to a maximum of 2 hours. Anyone can help? I got my Macbook in 2007.

  • Premiere CS5 consuming all memory and freezing up

I spent a couple of days farming around 2000 images into a Premiere project on  a Mac Pro, Premiere CS 5.0.0 and when I opened it this morning I could see from Activity Monitor that it very quickly consumed 12gb of memory, leaving a figure between 17-24Mb handling the system, therefore freezing the entire system and unable to do anything other than watch the beachball or Force Quit Premiere. I'd only pulled a handful of images into the timeline, so it wasn't a heavy project. Just linked to a lot of hi-res files. But why would they eat up all the RAM when I wasn't accessing or using them, they were just sat there in the project window. I have plenty disk space for scratch and running Mac OS 10.7.1.
I've had to just bail on Premiere and take it over to Final Cut, but still curious to know why this happened and if I might be able to return the project to Premiere at some stage? I've since ran the 5.0.4 update in the background and it still eats up the memory and still freezes up, even crashing the first time I opened it after update.
    Any ideas?

My experience using stills with FCP7 is far worse than with Pr.  Crash City.  Very painful.  Esp. with JPEGs.
I've seen issues with stills that are very large, scaled down in a sequence.  From what you describe, it sounds like the stills are being loaded into RAM, leaving nothing for other operations.  If this is so, you could try scaling down your images, perhaps by automating the process in Photoshop.
I don't know if it's normal to load images in the project (and not in a sequence) into RAM.  That doesn't seem right.  Another cause for the beachball could be corrupt source images.  You could determine this by adding a few stills at a time, and waiting for the axe to fall.
I never used Pr 5.0.x, other than playing around.  I didn't think it was ready for professional use until 5.5, so my experience.  Maybe somebody else with experience on that version has more helpful info.
I have done a couple of "slide show" style projects in Pr, and other than suffering the occasional corrupt image, it's been pretty painless, and far better than my experience trying the same thing in FCP.
    Good luck.

N73 ME Battery HEATING TOO MUCH - Please Help
    Hi Friends,
    I am from India
Need Help/Suggestion from Mobile Gurus right here
I have 1 Year Old N73 ME and I mainly use it for Calling and Texting. Very Occasionally I use it for Music/Gaming and Browsing the Web.
The phone is completely in excellent condition
The problem is that: While charging ONLY the Battery gets too much HOT and it never shows Battery is Full (Charged it for Max 1 Hour 45 Minutes)
This problem suddenly appeared, so I formatted the Memory Card as well as Hard Format/Reset the Phone, but still the Battery is heating too much
After disconnecting the Phone from Charger, the Battery is FULL and I can use it without any problem and as usual. The Talktime right now is around 2.5 Hours and Standby time is around 2-3 Days
Please tell me what to do
If you want any additional details I will post here
Thanks a Lot and With Best Wishes

    Hello Sir,
    Thanks for your response
I would like to add that the Temperature here in my city is around 43 Degree Centigrade (yes! centigrade, I am from Middle state's of India) everyday. Is this problem is due to so much heat?
    Thanks again

My iphone 5, with iOS 7.0.2, is heating and consuming the battery very fast when 3G is on, even when I'm not using it. Any solution?

iOS 7 has many multiple tasks. You can save battery life to some extent by few steps. First go to location services and bettr 'Off' them which are not needed. (Ex. Notes.. Reminders.. Etc). Also you can off few apps in 'get notifications' centre. Also usage of 3g by any mobile consumes much battery life. Better to connect any Wi-fi

  • I have a ipod mini, i upgraded my battery, and drive to 32 GB, my itunes will not see it, and the mini only shows file pic error. I have a 10.4.11 powerbook 667 so i can't upgrade to a newer itunes, which is 4.7.1, all i want is a better battery-more song

    Hi,
I have a older ipod mini which needed a battery, so i also upgraded the drive to a 32 GB flash drive. When i did the upgrade, it saw the itunes fine, but it never loaded anything. When i unplug it it shows the folder with "!" icon, and i can't get my itunes to see it. I have a powerbook 667 mhz g4 with itunes 10.4.11, so i can't upgrade to leopard. All i wanted was a better battery and a bit more song volume. This older 4 GB will fit back in and works fine, but i'm upset i spent $37 to only fail. What am i doing wrong? itunes is 4.7.1 How can i over come this?

In Disk Utility, select the iPod (the device) in the sidebar.  So, if you see the iPod in the sidbar with a "volume" indented below the iPod, select the "device" (not the volume).
Go to the Erase tab to the right.  The choice for Format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  Name does not matter, because iTunes will rename it during the Restore.  Click Erase.
    it "flashed" out of itunes.
That may be an issue with the USB connection.  As a test, shut down (power off) the Mac.  Disconnect other USB devices including USB hub, except for standard USB keyboard and mouse (if normally used).  SInce this is a laptop, connect it to its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.
Connect the iPod to a direct USB port on the Mac.  Note if there is any difference regarding the iPod not maintaining a connection.

I have Presario CQ 40-327 TU Laptop and i've been using this since 2009. My lap's batterry is almost dead and not charging up.When i try to poer on my lap it was not powering up. So i removed the battery and plugged in the power cable and tried again but it didn't. What is the reason behind this? Though the battry is removed, it should power on with the charger cable but the same is not happening in my case?Help me out

Thanks for the reply and suggestion.
Finally i have told to replace the battery and adaptor. I've asked them to send me quotation. The quotation as follows.

  • HEATING OF THE BATTERY AND PHONE

I am usig a nokia 6233 it gets heated up excessively when ever i put it on charging the whole phone and the battery gets heated up please any one do help me and say what to do ...

    Heating is natural during charging.
If you think it is heating excessively, you should have it checked at a Nokia service point. This is not an area you should get into yourself, it really needs to be looked at by a qualified engineer if there is a fault of this nature.

I've tried and tried to import them rom iTunes vis "Library"  " Import"

    Hey kbert73
I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.

  • 2 iphones 1 computer. updated my wifes phone to ios 5 her phone got wiped of all apps and all my contacts are on her phone. we had been using the same apple id but different user accounts on our laptop. How do i get her phone back to normal?

2 iphone 4, 1 computer. i upgraded to ios 5 and just updated my wifes phone as well. her phone got wiped of all apps and all my contacts were put on her phone. we had been using the same apple id but different user acct on our laptop. How do i get her phone back to normal??

Have your wife log in to her user account on the laptop. Launch iTunes, then connect her phone to the computer with the USB cable. Sync. That should put back all apps and media. Since you already upgraded her to iOS 5 she'll have to manually enter all her settings and preferences, and organize her home screens.

I have a Windows 7 laptop using I tunes 64 and all my music files are
on an external disc. I rarely use I tunes and at one point moved all my files
(including the music files) from one external disc to another without
considering what affect this would have on the I tunes library. When I eventually
attempted to use I tunes, every selected a song from the library resulted in a
message stating that the file couldn't be located. After following some of the procedures
explained in this community I was able to reconnect the library back to where
the associated music files are presently stored. However, there are still 2
problems that need to be corrected. 1) Every song file now has a duplicate. One
file works and the other file will result in the same message stating that the
file couldn't be located. Before there were 4,000 songs in the library, now
there are 8,000 songs. I need to eliminate the 4,000 dead song files. 2) All
the playlists are still associated with the dead song files which makes the
playlists unusable. Can the playlists be reconnected to the usable files
without manually having to recreate them? Thanks in advance for the help.

    So am I understanding correctly?
You used your iPod as a hard drive (drag and drop) instead of having iTunes install the music?
If you used drag and drop your choices are different than if you used iTunes to transfer.
    Good luck!

If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.
