My laptop is not working

I had last worked on my laptop on Sunday night and had switched it off properly. The next morning when I tried to switch it on its not happening. When I am pressing the power button the lights are turning on but nothing is displaying on the screen and the lights on the caps lock and scroll button starts blinking.

If you are running Lion or Mountain Lion, the drivers are downloaded from within Bootcamp Assistant. If you are running Snow Leopard the drivers are on your Snow Leopard install disk.

I upgraded for Firefox 4 and now my simplePass identity protection (biometric scanner) on my laptop will not work. WHY? It still works with IE but I don't use IE.

I upgraded for Firefox 4 and now my HP SimplePass Identity Protection (biometric scanner) on my laptop will not work. WHY? It still works with IE but I don't use IE. It worked with the previous Firefox version but now when I use the internet, it doesn't even acknowledge I have the scanner. When I run my finger over it, it opens the settings panel but does not allow use of the already saved information or allow new information to be entered. I need this corrected. Any suggestions?

By the sounds of it you have linked Email Accounts, if so this means that you will both recieve the majority of the same Emails, and if you do and you read them on your account (which is linked with your husbands) then they will appear to read on the both of them because they are linked. With the majority of Email providers these days they're Emails are (simplified) in the cloud you could say, meaning that if you read or delete shared Emails then it will do the same on both accounts rather than just the yours.

You need to get the key from the new device and enter it into the old device. So on the old device select "Pair a device" and the place to enter the key will show up.

Apple will repair or replace at its discretions, parts found to be defective in materials or workmanship.
You will have to discuss whether your history warrants a complete replacement with the folks at the Genius Bar.
I do not speak for Apple, but it sounds to me like you have been unlucky, but not unlucky enough (or have spent so much time with your MacBook in the shop) to warrant a complete replacement.
You have not provided any details of what the faults were or what was replaced. If they replaced the motherboard, you already got a new computer -- because everything except the drive and the display is on that board.

Earphone jack on my laptop does not work.

earphone jack on my laptop does not work. Tried plugging several earphones all behave the same and no sound comes out. Though the speakerson the laptop work ok. Where can I get this laptop checked and repaired. Laptop is still under warrantee.

Fix for Envy TouchSmart 15-j078ca (or any other laptop) sound not working

If you are having problems with the sound on your Envy 15 laptop (speaker/headphone jack not working), there is a straightforward way to fix your problems.
First go through these simple steps (they could very well save you some time if they work):
1) Update your drivers! Seriously, this is one of the top fixes for problems on PCs. If you haven't updated your drivers, search for "Check for Updates" and click that result (you can search using the Charm; the result will be under settings). If you have, read on.
2) Check to see if your audio device is enabled. On your desktop, right-click the Speakers icon and go to Playback devices. Set audio devices to default (like headsets and speakers) on by rightclicking them and selecting "Set as default". This way, they will work when plugged in, and when taken out, the system will default to other available sound sources.
If your chosen device is not present, right click in the open space and check "Show Disabled Devices". Now, you can rightclick a device and Enable it, then going through the same process as above to set them as default.
3) If your devices are enabled and plugged in, try the Windows Troubleshooter. Press the Windows key to bring up the Windows 8 interface (or the Start Menu in Win7) and type "Troubleshooting". Select it from the Settings section on the right side, then go to "Troubleshoot audio playback" under Hardware and Sound. Run the troubleshooter
If none of these methods work, follow the instructions in this excellent post, but use the changes below:
1) Use the audio driver specifically for this laptop model (or the driver that works for your model. Enter your product name under Drivers and Downloads on this page if you are American, or this page if you are Canadian. The driver will be under Audio).
2) Remove both the AC adapter and the battery before performing the hard reset, then hold down only the power button for 15 seconds (or follow the instructions here if the battery is fixed in place).
3) Press Escape repeatedly on boot-up until you get the option to use the BIOS menu.

Here is a document on troubleshooting sound.
Please make sure your updates have been done on the Notebook. In the device manager under sound right click and update the driver. Here is another step to try.
1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner by your time.
2. Click Playback Devices.
3. Click Speakers/Headphones.
4. Click Properties.
5. Click the Advanced tab on the Properties window.
6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
7. Apply the properties.
8. Click OK to close the properties window.
9. Click OK to close the Playback Devices.

Please help!! Laptop is not working and needed for homework!!!

I have a Toshiba laptop. The model is Satellite A215-S5837. The problem I have is this. Starting this morning when I turned on my laptop it was black for 10 minutes and then it starts loaing files. After it is finished loaing it goes to the regular Windows Vistas is loading screen. Then it goes black again and after 10 more minutes the mouse cursor shows up an nothing else. It nevr gets to the welcome screen where I can log on. It just stays black with a mouse cursor that responds when I move it. Please help quickly because I have homework ue soon for my summer class and I need to finish it tommorrow else I fail.
P.S. Please don't tell me to restore my computer because I don't have my restore disk with me because I am currently studying abroad.

Hi,
Any help appreciated. My printer is Photosmart C7288 All-in-One Printer.
As of 2 days ago my printer has not been working. It comes up with several error messages after I switch it on. The first one is "Ink system failure: Ink system has failed. Unable to copy, recieve faxes or print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc18a0105. Turn power off then on again."
However when I turn power off then on again via the 'power' button, ".ink system failure Then the same original error message comes up (0xc18a0105). This is the most frequent error message and won't go away. Then I also keep getting a message saying "Photo Tray Problem: Lift output tray up, verify the photo tray is pushed in until it stops, lower output tray". Despite the fact that I have not used the photo tray in several months and it is in the correct position.
So far I have tried switching the printer on and off several times using the power button. I also switched the printer off at the plug last night (after it had been properly shut down) and switched it back on this morning. I have looked through the printer documentation but could not find any troubleshooting advice for this kind of problem. I have updated the HP driver using software update on my mac, and the problem is still there.
I'm getting desperate now, I rely on my printer/scanner/photocopier a lot!

MAC 2009 laptop volume not working properly.

The volume on my Mac 2009 laptop is not functioning properly. Earlier today i was listening to music and the sound was fine; but when I went on my computer again, the sound sounded like I had headphones plugged in, which I did not. I checked the sound settings and nothing was on mute and all the volume's were set to the highest level possible. I restarted my computer and reset the NVRAM/PRM, but all to no avail. When I put on my headphones, the sound is completely normal and works prefectly, but when I take the headphones out, it sounds like the headphones still in plugged in to my computer which it is not.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

B590 laptop touchpad not working

Hi all,
I just purchased a B590 laptop. I've only been using it for a couple weeks, and the touchpad is no longer working.
I tried re-installing the drivers, but I get an error message that says, "Synaptics device not found!"
I tried performing a System Restore, and the problem still persists.
The problem also persists when booting in Safe Mode.
Is there anything else I should try, or should I just return the product while I still can?

First boot system in the Safe mode and check if issue persists. If still touchpad is not working, perform a system restore from safe mode.
