My laptop reads all my iPods as corrupted...

I have reset the iPods numerous times but I keep getting the error message, "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted.  You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.  You mat also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod."  I know the iPods ( a Classic 160GB and a Nano) are not corrupted because they work in my office.  I have deleted and reinstalled all the iTunes applications (as stated in the Apple tutorials).  I have a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Windows XP.  Any idea what may be the problem?

Is the iTunes and OS on your laptop and office machine, the same version? Most likely your office has an older version of iTunes than your updated laptop.

I recently bought a second-hand ipod classic.  When connecting to itunes the message reads that the ipod is corrupt and needs to be restored to factory settings.  However, this does not solve the issue and I get the message saying unable to restore, unknown error 1439.  No matter what i have tried through apple support i get the same result.  My computer runs Windows XP but I have also tried on my laptop which operates Vista and still no joy.  Anyone able to solve this one?

Normally unknown error is due to timeout, cause by
connected to slow USB port at the front of the PC, or using USB Hubs - Better connect to the USB HUb at the back of the PC. (Some Laptop, has only one High Power -USB2.0 port
USB resource low, due to sharing of other USB devices - Disconnect all other USB devices when Restoring.

This wont solve your problem. but is very helpful in troubleshooting.
It would also help, if you can state
Which version of iTunes are your running?
What is your iPod software version as shown in the iTunes summary page?

  • Itunes wiped out all data now ipod is corrupt

I bought my 80g ipod classic in March,08 and have never had problems until two months ago. Several times after disconnecting, I found that itunes wiped out all the songs and video. The first time, I lost over 8000 songs and never realized it until I was in the car on a long road trip. My playlists were gone, 14 movies and many video clips. My pictures and games remained however. Problems continued periodically. Sometimes it would eject immediately after connecting. Then it would connect, but not sync anything. Now itunes will recognize it, but says it needs to be formatted then restored. I didn't want to lose everything, but now it has wiped out games and pics also. It is like I just bought it. I have updated itunes to 8.0 and tried to update my ipod as well. Now it is telling me that it can't be restored and that my ipod is corrupt. This is my second ipod, the first was a 20g with pics and I used and abused it to death and NEVER had a single problem until it just quit working. I have my computer set to update automatically for itunes and this all started right after it completed an update of some kind. I have a 2 year warranty, should I relace it? Also, will I lose all the games I bought?

I just upgraded my itunes and now my IPOD won't play any of my songs. Everything is still ther, will let me navigate etc, but just won't play!
    Very dissapointed!
Worst, i can't get my music off my IPOD now, because ITUNES doesn't allow it. And worst still, when i take it in to get a replacement, they simpy take my IPOD and away and give me a new one.
    I'm seriously put off!

  • I have just updated to itunes 11 and when I plugged in my ipod classic it locked up. When I tried again it said my ipod was corrupt and advised I reset it. I reluctantly did this as I lost all my music and now itunes just locks up when I plug in my ipod.

Not if you first do a sync and have iTunes make a backup. However, if your only copy of the iTunes data is in the Touch, then you need to first copy the data to a new iTunes Library using third-party software such as Phone To Mac.

  • I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing

I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt or damaged. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing

Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder.

    Thank You

. You do not need a seperate Apple ID. One one device you just need to go to Settings>Messages and add another/different Messaging email address and delete the common Apple ID address. Also see:

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • HT1329 Is there a possible way for me to sync all my iPod Touch (4G) 's content to a Windows 8 Laptop with iTunes? and be able to continue syncing weekly?

So I've had this Windows laptop since 2009 and its very broken and slow but it has all my iPod's content on it (iTunes).
Recently I bought a Windows 8 Laptop, and I'd really like to sync all the content from my iPod Touch 4 (mostly the songs) to my new laptop without having to delete anything important.
(I also have a couple older iPods, but none of them have the same content as the one on the iPod Touch incase that helps)
    Thanks.

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
    Full Details Here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.
If you do not have access to the iTunes Library on your Old computer... or its Backup...

  • IPod classic corrupted

I have an iPod classic 160GB. And it'c corrupted. I've tried all possible methods to fix it, but none of them worked.
    1. On switching on the iPod, it says "Use itunes to restore" and when i connect it to itunes, it says that the ipod is corrupted and needs to be restored. When I proceed with restoring, it ALWAYS gives me an error 1439. Ive tried it on all USB ports of my laptop and different laptops, too.
    2. When I put it in disk mode and try to format it manually, It gives me an error "Please insert a disk in drive G:\", and it doesnt even open the directory.
The result of the diagnostics test are:
    Retracts: 16
    Reallocs: 11
    Pending Sectors: 4
    PowerOn Hours: 322
    Start/Stops: 4234
    Temp Current: 27c
    Temp: Min 8c
    Temp: Max 48c
Is the hard drive corrupted? Can anyone suggest any third party applications which can fix a corrupted ipod?

If it won't restore, you probably need to get a replacement. However, if you have DiskWarrior, you may find it able to repair the drive and allow the restore to take place. Worth a go if you have it.

  • After itunes 9.2 install,160 gb ipod classic corrupted

I installed iTunes 9.2 a couple of weeks ago, and when I went to plug in my iPod to my laptop it says "Your iPod needs to be reformatted for use with Windows. Would you like to run iTunes to restore your iPod now?" Whether I click yes or just x off the pop up and open iTunes, I get another pop up that says "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted..." iTunes shows that an iPod is hooked up to it but I cant acces anything on it in iTunes or add any songs or anything. The iPod itself still works fine, plays all the songs etc. I know alot of people are having problems with their iPod classics and iTunes, but most of their iTunes seems to recognize their iPod and just freezes. I dont wanna wipe my iPod and start again because I've been reading people who've wiped theirs are running into problems when they try to put their music back on it. I've got like 23,000 songs on it and dont wanna wipe it and spend the hours manually putting my music on it from my external hard drives and still not have it work. Any suggestions?

Really the only thing that would very most likely work is to manually restore it. if iTunes isnt even restoring it after you click "yes" though, try reinstalling iTunes for any luck. if you can get your hands on 9.1 or some version of 8, all the better. but yes you may have to resync the entire library....a second thought would be to reset the ipod too

  • I tried to sync my iPod Classic but if I try to sync more than 700 songs, everything freezes and the iPod gets corrupted, and I have to restore it. Can I fix this?

I recently bought a new Mac laptop. When I tried to erase all the songs on my iPod and sync it to my new library, 700 songs synced before the sync froze. I could still play songs on iTunes but no more songs would sync.
It wouldn't let me stop the sync and safely eject my iPod, so I just unplugged it. I plugged it back in and iTunes said the iPod was corrupted, so I restored it. I tried to sync it again, but the same thing happened, and it still happens every time I try.
Is there a way to fix this?

Are you running any sort of AntiVirus or security software on your system?  If so, try disabling it temporarily and then resyncing your iPod.
Otherwise, try sync content to your iPod in smaller batches to see if that heps.
