Sound blaster not working correctly #I have a 64 bit, windows vista system.
A Logitech Z-5500 Digital speaker system (one woofer, center speaker, left, right, rear right, left rear speakers, and a seperate control head).
I have an X-fi gamer sound card.
I recently formatted my hard dri've and reinstalled everything. Trying to make everything happy again. Here is my problem:
When I use the Creative Console Launcher (CCL), my front right speaker tests fine. My front left speaker comes out of the woofer. And no other speakers will test at all. It does this in all modes (2., 4., 5. and 7.).
When I play some music, it is coming out of all of the speakers. But it won't test properly in the CCL. So, do I have an issue, does what the CCL is doing not matter, or something else In some games, hearing what direction stuff is coming from matters, so if it is sending sounds to the wrong speakers, then I need to figure out a fix.....hence my post.

First of all, if you compiled your sound as modules, try putting this in your rc.local:
stat_busy "Activating Sound"
/sbin/modprobe your_sound_module
/sbin/modprobe other_sound_module
/sbin/modprobe yet_other_sound_module
stat_done
Change your_sound_module stuff to your module names as you configured in the kernel, of course.
Second: in order to have two or more sound apps working at the same time, you need some kind of sound server. For default one (esd), uncomment esd in /etc/rc.local (remove ! before it) . After that, you'll have to configure your sound apps to use esd. I know that this is extremely easy with xmms and xine, dunno about others. I do not use esd, because my favorite games (quake3 and half-life) require direct access to /dev/dsp.
And remember: nobody blames for asking 8)

It sounds like you did not purchase it at the Apple store? That doesn't matter - you can still take it to Apple to troubleshoot it.
You can also try to troubleshoot it with the help of the folks here - if you want to do that, let me know and I'll ask that your post be moved to the iPhone forum where you're more likely to get knowledgeable answers, ok.

You can't update to iOS 6 on the original iPad, but you might be able to troubleshoot the apps on your iPad. What is not working correctly?

Glad to have helped. One more thing to try, after drying your iPod. Try plugging and unplugging the headphone jack quickly about 12 times, it could be that the switch inside the port is stuck, many times this action will un-stick it. If the problem continues you may need to look into purchasing an out of warranty iPod, refurbished one are cheaper. Also, if you have not already done so, BACKUP ALL YOUR STUFF from this iPod to your computer, water damaged iPods have a habit of stop working without any notice. Hope this helps, Good luck.

I dont know what to do!!! I pulled out my headphones and then saw that my sound was not working correctly. I was horrified to find a piece of the headphone never came out. I have heard how much it costs to repair and the other methods are not working.

Please help, i am so scared that i will never get my laptop back the way it was.

Well, what other methods have you tried that didn't work? Frankly, your post reads as a hoax, but I have some extra time on my hands, and an idea. Make an appointment with the Apple Genius at your local Apple store. You could also bring your MBP to an AASP. Regardless, either one should be able to remove the bottom cover, and use a plastic thingy (dang, what is that tool called?) to push out the offending bit.

Hp pavilion g6 laptop sound is not working!

I have Windows 7 and up until 20 minutes ago, the sound was working fine. No additional programs were downloaded between that period. I have done 2 System restores and the sound is still not working, not even if headphones are connected.

What is the full Model No. and Part No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook )?
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers - list all the devices here and include if any have a warning icon ( ie Yellow Triangle ) against them.
Check the following.
Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'. Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the 'Set Default' button - does this make any difference?

Sound is not working correctly

I sound works after using the answers posted in these forums but I have a few additional questions. When I type dmesg it lists:
Intel 810 + AC97 Audio, version 0.21, 00:03:43 Feb 1 2003

i810: SiS 7012 found at IO 0xd800 and 0xdc00, IRQ 11
i810_audio: Audio Controller supports 2 channels.
ac97_codec: AC97 Audio codec, id: ALC38(Unknown)
i810_audio: only 48Khz playback available.
i810_audio: AC'97 codec 0 supports AMAP, total channels = 2
This doesn't seem very good.. XMMS works perfectly but sound things I've tried have returned errors saying that 44khz playback is not availble. Do I need to do something more to get the full use of my sound card?
Would configuring Esound and/or ALSA help? Can't seem to even find out what the difference is..

Sound Effects Not working Correctly in Mail 6.0 or Notification Center...

I recently installed Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro (2012 Retina Screen, 2.7 GHz Core i7, 16 GB RAM) and all the sound effects are no longer working in the new version of Mail 6.0. There are also Sound Effect problems with the Notification Center.
I double checked and all my settings appear to be correct in Mail and in the Sounds & Notification Center Pref Panes. I also did a PRAM reset to see if that would fix it, and that made no difference either. In Mail, only some sounds are working. I still get the swoosh sound when mail is sent but not any of the other sounds like when email is deleted or received. Also, my speakers are working fine for audio etc.
I called Apple Care and the technician had me on the phone for a while and researched this, but said he could find nothing that was known or had been reported on this issue. As an FYI, to the best of my knowledge I'm not running any incompatible apps. Every app I am running is listed as being compatible with ML.
Has anyone else had this issue with the Mail and Notification Center Sound Effects? I would appreciate any solutions or suggestions.

I have experienced the same symptoms.
Opening Audio MIDI Setup, and changing the Built-in Output>Format to another choice (2ch-20bit Integer) and then back to the prvious setting (2ch-24bit Integer) briefly fixes the lack of Mail sounds, but unfortunately the problem eventually returns after computer sleep.
I have tried a Safe Boot, and removed the Audio MIDI plist without success.

Sound does not work correctly all the time, on youtube.

So I have been having this issue for a while now, and I have tried everything to fix it on my own.
My issue is sometimes you-tube videos will play about 1-2 sec of sound then stop, the video will buff all the way out and I can watch it but no sound will come from it. Once it happens if I try to watch another video they will all have no sound, but if i start up itunes it will still play music, so it's not my PC.
Once I close Firefox and reopen it 80% of the time it will play sound on the same video, the other 20% of times it will play 1-2secoinds of sound again and quit playing sound, if I restart fire fox again it will play just fine. Also I do not seem to get this issue with internet explore.
Stuff I have done.
Check for updates for my video/sound cards.
Uninstalled/installed flash 3 times even downloads the Adobe Flash player uninstaller, then reinstalled flash again.
Unchecked enable hardware acceleration, in the Adobe Flash setting.
My setup
Firefox 3.6.13
Windows 7 64bit
ATI HD radeon HD 4350 video card.
I have my PC connected to my TV, sound/video is carried with a HDMI cable from my video card.

Did you check the settings for Firefox in the Volume Mixer?

Best to take the iPhone to the Apple genius bar and have them ckeck it out...see if it can be cleaned and restored or needs replacement. Water and electronics do not play well together.

Sound in Macbook pro is not working correctly! PLEASE HELP!

A few days ago, the sound in the build in speakers in my macbook pro (Mac OS X 10.6.8) started not working correctly, i did not hit it or anything, just closed it down when i woke up the next day, the sound was not working correctly. i know it is hard to describe what's wrong in a written forum, but the best way to describe it is this: it sounds like when you have a set of headphones plugged in, but not wearing them. the sound is weak, with no bass. when i actualy do hear the sound when wearing headphones (in my ears) the sound is fine.

Try cleaning up the cooling module. Blow compressed air into the fan grill. Test the laptop after the fan and heatsink is clean.
If cleaning the cooling module doesn't help, you'll have to replace the fan. This requires complete laptop disassembly.
In order to replace the fan you'll have to remove the motherboard.
Here's the official service manual which could be useful.
By the way, there are two different types or cooling modules. One for AMD processors and another one for Intel processors (page 93 in the service manual).
If you decide to replace the fan, it's not necessary to replace the entire cooling module assembly (heatsink and fan). It's possible to replace just the fan which can be purchased on eBay.
