Or, do I have to erase itunes with phone info and then just reload music from hard drive?
During the crash, I bought an ipad and synced it to a different computer so will need to sync it to this one instead and I have a few apps/podcasts/movies on it as well so don’t want to erase them and may have to do the same thing.

All apps on your iPhone and iPad should be in your iTunes library on your computer, which should be included with your computer's backup per the instructions included with this link.

With Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for each device's sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading an app with either device, the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync the device with iTunes after doing so.
If the apps on each device are different, with your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. Repeat this for your iPad - Transfer Purchaes From - the name of your iPad.
Then you will need to select Sync Apps under the Apps tab making sure all apps on the connected device are selected below. This will not prevent the device from being erased of all iTunes content with the first sync.
If all apps on either device were in your iTunes library and your iTunes library was backed up per the instructions included with the link provided and restored from said backup, no iTunes content on either device would be erased with the first sync with iTunes.

Plug in the iPod and open iTunes. Now go to the top and click 'File' go down till you see 'Transfer Purchases from "(the name of the iPod)'. Doing this will retreve all of the purchased songs off the iPod. The songs that were put on with CDs are easy to replace. If some songs don't show up your lolcal library might have the CDs.

Well, I can more or less get content on my mobile devices with iTunes 11 (managed manually, as I've always done). How do I get it off? I have a series of files formatted as audiobooks (continuing education). I put them on my iPhone (for in the office) and iPod (in the car to work). Now I'm done - and can't get them off. Going on the Music app doesn't allow me to remove an audiobook, and that's never been an option on the iPod. When I try to do it through iTunes, I get the following:
Pod: I can at least FIND the files on "On This iPod", but cannot find any option to delete (and I tried both del and command-del). I ended up having to set it up to sync, which I dont like as I typically (for space issues) keep my audiobook library on an external disk - anything I put on the Pod has to stay on the hard drive till I finish listening to it.
Phone: I can't view the content on the phone other than apps. Via iTunes, I can't even see what's there, much less do anything with it.
Am I missing something? There seems to be no option to manually manage media anymore - I can't do it without syncing, and that requires me to leave everything on my hard drive indefinitely.
If anyone's found a solution I missed (other than the process to revert back to 10.7, that is), I;d appreciate a point in the right direction. Mahalo!

To remove Audiobooks depending on the type of Audiobook ie a series of mp3 files you will find under music and probably have to deselect the album name to remove it. I don't have any of these as I download from Audible or I use Audiobook Builder to stictch together mp3 files into m4b files. To find these Click on Books you will immediately see a section for books (in reality ebooks). Scroll down past that and you will see Audiobooks where you can select and deselect. Deselect the required Audiobooks and Click Sync

If your photos are on your iPhone, import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. You can then transfer them to your galaxy using whatever method they recommend for importing photos.
If your photos are not on your iPhone, and are only in your iCloud backup, you would have to restore the backup to your iPhone in order to access them.

If the content is on an external drive, but your library knows where to find it, then it should all work. Connect your device, make some selections for what to put on it, and sync. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.

On your Mac, for duplicates, switching Contacts off then back on in System Preferences > iCloud may prevent duplicates.
On the iPhone / iPad tap Settings > iCloud. Make sure Contacts and Calendars are swtiched on.
Try restarting your Mac and your iOS devices when items won't sync as they should.
To restart an iOS device: Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
