My left shift keyboard not working

APPLE support team and all. please help me. any solution to solve this problem ? when i click left shift now working. for right its working well.

HP Pavilion notebook left shift key not working

My reasonably new HP Pavilion has a problem with the left shift key not working. The Right shift is fine, as is the Caps Lock.

thanks, i thought there some quick procedure to do before heading to apple store. i was just wondering, it was working for a while, and then suddenly like that. i have macbook 10.6.8 software. intel core 2 duo. less than a year old, if i'm not mistaken.

Help! Left shift key not working!

all of a sudden today my left shift key has ceased to work. the right key works fine, increasing the chance that it's hardware. I'd like to remove the key cap and see if re-seating it might fix it. I've looked in many places on how to remove it, but no luck. Is there a web site that shows how it's done for a G4 Aluminum? Thanks in advance.

I've been having intermittent left shift key problems for several months. My laptop is now 3 days out of Warranty, Apple web site says so. Anyway, the only reliable fix I've found is to do a re-boot. I can also (sometimes) get reliable shifting if I slide my finger closer to the outer edge - meaning, no shift if pressed on one side of the key, sometimes shift on the other side.
I've also had success shifting in one application which seemed to "clear" the problem in the original application. Example: typing in Mail when left shift key stops working. Switch to MS Word, shift works fine. Switch back to Mail, shift works fine.
I have a feeling it's a combination of software and slowly failing hardware. I feel bad to have waited until after the warranty period, and now the problem is getting worse. My wife was just in for brain surgery, so you can't really blame me! She's doing fine.
So, my suggestion is to try rebooting to see if that clears a memory buffer problem. Kinda annoying, maybe a future software update will fix the software problem?

3 letters + left shift key not working - 2 of them + right shift key working

as in subject, I have just bought a laptop g50-45, italian keyboard.
I encountered this problem:
"LEFT shift key" + "e" or "d" or "c" combinations do not work. Nothing happens.
"RIGHT shift key" + "e" or "d" work properly
"RIGHT shift key" + "c" do not work. Nothing happens
CAPS key + "e" or "d" or "c" work properly.
I noticed this issue before making any updates of windows 8.1
I tried making an update of the bios and later updating windows but the problem is still there.
I check with an external keyboard and everything work correctly
I don't think it could be a mechanical problem because "e", "d" and "c" keys alone work properly, so it seems more a software side problem.

Why is left shift button not working?

when i try to use left shift button it doesn't work for about 10 letters.
all others work fine. and the right shift key works for all letters.
how do i fixit

yeah, apple service was very helpful but it does look like hardware. so i ordered the aluminium keyboard.

Hello my mac pro left shift button is not working what would be the problem, is it the major or minor problem plz help me...

Mac Pros are desktop, MacBook Pros are notebooks. There are usually two shift keys. Have you tried both?
Have you made sure the Caps Lock key is not enabled? Have you made sure the Num Lock key is not enabled (clicking either will disable them if they are enabled). Speech recognition can make a key give an alternative command if you set that up, try disabling speech recognition to see if that's the problem, or one of the Universal Access settings can do the same. Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences to manage those.

In addition, I have gone thru all the recommended checks with universal access and have booted from snow leopard dvd and the left arrow still does not work.
I have tried using the left arrow key in all of applications I use such as: excel, ms word, address book, calendar, iphoto, terminal, & highlighting an icon and using the arrows to move to another selected icon.
Here is the kicker! In addition, I purchased a logitech solar bluetooth keyboard and the arrows work fine with my ipad but do not work when paired with the macbook pro. All other keys work fine on the macbook pro using the bluetooth keyboard.
I believe this says that the problem is not in my macbook pro keyboard. So where can it be?
Can anyone think of any other rabbit holes I can search?

I would also like to add that I've reverted the two cd drive and hard drive mods I did and the laptop is back to factory hardware and there is 0 corrosion or mold visible.

Using shift key not working with bluetooth keyboard

Am I missing something here? Or does the shift key not work with the iphone using a bluetooth keyboard? I'm using the logitech K810 for reference on iphone 6 iOS 8.1

The shift key works just fine on my Bluetooth keyboard. So I would imagine this is an issue with your keyboard.

Command-Left/Right Arrow not working

Very strange behavior I'm seeing today.
My left/right arrow keys work. Even Option-Left/Right works correctly.
But, Command-Left-Right do not work. No movement at all.
Curiously, Shift-Command-Left/Right work fine.
I've not changed any keyboard shortcuts recently. I've checked the keyboard shortcuts that are currently defined. Nothing that would indicate a problem, but clearly there is.

Just found a solution that worked for me here. Basically, it seems to be a bug with the Dock. If you type "killall Dock" (the command is case-sensitive) into the command line in Terminal, it restarts the Dock. After that the arrows seem to work normally again.

Keys on keyboard not working.

Greetings all, we are having trouble with several keys on our keyboard not working. First it started with the ENTER (non numpad) key not working, shortly followed by the TAB and CAPS LOCK key.
Any clues as to what caused this and how to fix it? It's the keyboard that came with the iMac. I've already tried unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Keyboard Keys Do Not Respond

USB Keyboard not working after running Monolingual

Okay, I'm not a Mac person and should have known that I was going to mess up my mother's iMac, but here it is -
In an attempt to improve the mac's performance I performed all of the actions described in the following article: 11 Ways to Optimize your Mac's Performance ( http://lowendmac.com/eubanks/07/0312.html ). Basically, I cleaned up files and 'other' system preferences. Things seemed to be fine and the computer did run much better. However, after running Monolingual and deleting what I understood to be 'unnecessary' PowerPC files the standard USB keyboard is no longer working.
I've tried to search for various remedies, but have come to a dead end. So I'm left with reinstalling the Snow Leopard OS (I think it is 10.6.8?) BUT I can't because it is asking to input the account password (which I know) to make the change and I can't figure how to do that when the keyboard not working.
Any help would be great!

How are you trying to reinstall Snow Leopard? If you're booting from the Snow Leopard or iMac Install DVD that came with the system then that should eliminate any of the issues you may or may not have caused when you deleted did the clean up work on your mom's system.
I suggest trying the following:
0) Verify that the caps lock key is off. It can make inputting passwords difficult if you don't realize it is ON.
1) Reset the PRAM by restarting the system then quickly press the command-option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears. Wait until you hear the computer restarts two times as indicated by the startup chime. For more info refer to http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379.
2) If the issue persists after the PRAM reset then boot from the Snow Leopard or iMac Install DVD, whichever you have. Once you see the menu asking you to choose a language try using the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the language choice selection. If the arrow keys are working at this point it indicates your keyboard is at least partially functional. Go ahead and select the language then proceed to step 3.
3) Once the next screen appears move the cursor up to the menu bar area and pull down the Utilities menu. Select the 'Terminal' application. Once the Terminal application launches try typing the various keys on the keyboard and check to see if the correct characters are displayed. Please let us know if you detect any errors. If there are no errors then you should be able to quit the Terminal application and proceed with reintstalling the OS.

HP Pavilion G6 - Keyboard Not Working

I am having a problem with the mothers laptop, it was working fine yesterday but when turned on today some of the keys have stopped working! Its the top row of letters, Q to P with the exception of T & Y and also the up and left arrows are not working, just wondering if anyone has experienced this in the past? I have removed the keyboard and cleaned it, made sure it was connected properly and it was. I have removed the battery, held down the power button for 30 seconds and then reinserted the battery. I have loaded the default settings in the BIOS. I have uninstalled the keyboard and the restarted the laptop. None of these have worked and I am now stumped! So any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6-2044so Notebook and issues with the keyboard not working. You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook. When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices including the USB keyboard, as they can cause issues. I hope this helps.

I recommend you to run Apple Hardware Test > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509 It's possible that something is damaged, and Apple Hardware Test will help you finding it. Make sure you tick the option to run an extended test, and connect your Mac to the charger.
If your Mac came with DVDs, you have to insert the Mac OS X DVD to run Apple Hardware Test. As you haven't got the SuperDrive, you will have to buy an external optical drive
