My library folder is not displayed

I'm trying to organise my Word templates (Office for Mac). The file location is users/me/library etc but in Finder I have no library folder. Any ideas?

Lion hides it.  If you don't want to make it visible then use the Finder's Go menu, Go To Folder, and type ~/Library.
To make it visible then do the following in terminal:
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
and if you want to hide it again,
chflags hidden ~/Library

  • In Portal Content admin Role "Portal content" folder is not displaying

    Hi,
I created a user in EP and assign Only Content admin Role. But in portal content area "Portal content "folder is not displaying.
Can someone help me the process steps to achieve it?
    Thanks,
    kundan

It is because the user has no proper permissions  to the porta content folder.
you should give atleast read permission to the portal content folder to the content_admin role or to the users who have content admin role.
also make sure the end user check box is checked at the time of giving permissions.
Otherwise give eevryone group as read permisisons to the portal content folder. then you can see the portal content folder with read permissiosn only.

  • Utility folder icon not displaying like App folder icon?

Hi- noticed when I drag the system Utility Folder into the Finder Toolbar it does not display similar to the Applications folder - not the Sidebar, but the horizontal toolbar holding the view option buttons (as a favorite item). The Applications folder displays as the same "A"-type icon as in the Sidebar, but the Utilities folder displays as a folder, not the "X"-type icon it appears as in the sidebar. This seems nonstandard- I'd like to see what I can do about having it display in the Toolbar as it does in the Sidebar.
I know, I know, "Why?". I just need to, ok? Otherwise I won't stop thinking about it. Any ideas? Assuming this is the same case for everybody's system, not just mine. I would've posted this in the "OS X System" forum, but it's not really developer related. I'm also guessing this involves going into the icon resources, and making a change to match the resources for the Applications folder, but that's a blind guess. I did a similar change for the slider in iTunes to have it match the Quicktime slider, but not sure in this case, or where to look. Thanks!

To clarify: This is about how the Utility Folder displays in the Finder Sidebar vs. how it displays in the Finder Toolbar (both shown by selecting "Show Sidebar" and "Show Toolbar" in the Finder "View" pulldown menu.
    Finder Sidebar, Finder Toolbar:
    http://grok.lsu.edu/Article.aspx?articleId=5920
Any folder can be dragged into either space, and without using the Customize Toolbar option. Just drag and drop the folder.
Dragging the Utility Folder into the Sidebar displays it correctly, as its specialized, unique crossed-tools icon. However, dragging the Utility Folder into the Toolbar will not, unlike all other folders assigned with those special icons.
In the Sidebar, certain folders will display as non-folder icons. For instance, under "Places" the Home Folder does not display as a mini Home Folder icon, it displays as a little "house". The Desktop Folder displays as a mini-picture of a Desktop, the Applications folder displays as an "A" made up of a crossed ruler, pencil, and brush.
This is the same for the Finder Toolbar, when you drag one of those specialized folders into the Toolbar.
So, on the left side of a Finder window, you have the Sidebar, with its specialized icons (for certain folders, not all) and along the Toolbar (across the top of a Finder window, with its typical column-view buttons) you will also see those same (or other) specialized icons. In all cases, a folder's icon will display the same in the Sidebar as it does in the Toolbar. Except for the Utilities Folder.
If it isn't already, drag your Utility Folder into the Sidebar, and then, in that same Finder Window, drag it into the toolbar. Not the bar at the top of your monitor screen, but the toolbar of that specific Finder window. You should have the exact same result. The Utility Folder will display as a specialized icon in the Sidebar, but will display as a small version of its original blue folder icon in the Toolbar.

  • Mail.app does import folder items and items in folder are not displayed

I had a hard drive crash on my G4 Powerbook. I installed a new harddrive and recovered the data from the old drive....hurrah.... but in a folder I store all my various internet information email(receipts, program info etc) I lost all the emails. I found them in the folder but they aren't shown in the program. I took the backup folder and tried to import them to the folder. Still they don't show up. Should I reinstall mail????

HI, thanks for the help in the past. I've tried several methods of fixing my "lost mail" problem. Once again, I had a hard drive crash replaced the hard drive and copied back the mailbox folders in the library path so MAIL could find them. 2 mailboxes had some messages displayed but not all. I found this out by clicking on the files under the xxxx folder with the emix extension. New messages existed that were not displayed in Mail under the xxxx folder. I tried rebuilding...this was a mistake because NO messages appeared. I tried importing from different back ups and some messages displayed but again, not all of the messages with the emix extensions. I can click on individual emix files and they display but are not searchable nor displayable in MAIL. I tried importing messages but import only worked when I only had the mbox file in the xxxx folder however still not all of the emix files were displayed.
My question is now very much more direct: how do I import the emix files back into mail so they are displayed. Click and drag does not work.
    Thanks

  • I am not able to open iPhoto, when I have used the iPhoto Library Manager, I get the message that "the iPhoto Library folder could not be found" Help!

Help!  I can't open the iPhoto!  I have os x 10.5.8 and I have tried using the iPhoto Library Manager only to find out that the folder for the iPhoto Library could not be found.
I have also tried the Fix #1 from the user Old Toad who said to delete the preference file :com.appleiPhoto.plist - I could do that, but I couldn't figure out how to delete iPhoto's cache fie, Cache.db because I couldn't find it?  I'm not sure how to find the file by it's directory path name of HD/User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto .
    Help is very much appreciated!

Download and use  Find Any File  to search for "Library6.iPhoto".  It's a file that is present in every iPhoto library.  If you don't find one on your hard drive then your library has gone missing entirely.
Another thing you can try is to use the Search For - All Images feature in the Finder window to see if you can see any of your photos.
That will tell you if they are on your hard drive but somewhere other than the library.
What do you see when you insert the DVD into the optical drive?  Can you open it and any folders on the disk?  If the disk is titled iPhoto Library  then open the disk, the the iPhoto Library folder and finally the Originals folder.  Check the subfolders to see if your photos are there.
Your original photo files will be in the Originals subfolders.

  • Document library items are not displaying in sorted order in sharepoint 2013

    Hi,
I have a document library , I am storing document sets on it.
28326 items are there in the library.
I have configured sort on Name columns. Initially items are displaying in sorted order like (A,B,C,D,E...)
Now Items are not displaying in a sorted order it is displaying like (A, B,C,D,E,A,C...) like this.
Please help me on this sorting issue.
    Thanks,
    Samir

Are the documents displaying in your image inside the document sets?  If so then your sets (folders) are displaying in alphabetical order and the documents inside the sets are displaying in alphabetical order.  This is what i would expect.

  • Folder links not displaying

    Hello everyone,
We have EP SP9 and if I navigate to Content Management -> Explorer -> Documents. I do not see the folder names as a hyper link - only the little black triangle and check box icons appear. If I place the cursor at an icon I get the help that shows up that displays the folder name such as system, Discussions, Links, etc... But I do not see the folder name as a link. Has anyone ever seen this before?
This happens anywhere you can see folders, not just the above navigation.
    Thanks,
    Bert

    Darin,
I have been thinking the same thing that it may be a permission problem - we have a sandbox portal installed in the same manner and the links are displayed correctly there. It does not display the folder as plain text. There is nothing there except a check box icon. When you position the cursor at the icon then the folder name appears briefly.
    Thanks,
    Bert

  • Download folder does not display downloaded files; nor ask destination

When I download a file, the Download folder opens but does not display the downloaded file. If I set the option to Ask for destination, it doesn't ask, just opens the Download folder with nothing displayed. This is happening on two machine.
    Thanks for the help.

If you want to keep a file that is opened in an external program then you either need to save it in the program if it permits or use "Save Link As" in the right-click to save the file. Files opened in an external program are never guaranteed to stay in the location, so editing a text file of other file that is opened in a program and save it under the same name will likely cause you to lose this edit.

  • Library Folder does not appear in Finder?

I recently purchased MacGourmet.  When I click on "Where is my Database" in the Help menu, I get the following path: User/Library/Application Support/MacGourmet.
However, when I try to find this going through Finder, there no "Library" folder appears in the main list under me as a user.  Where do I find the library folder?
This is important because, in order to sync the MacGourmet database with my iPad, I need to be able to find the database and add it to the folder transfer on iTunes.  Right now, I can't do this as there is no path for me to follow?
Anyone know how I can find this Library folder????
    Thanks
    Orest

If you use the Terminal command it will only work up to the next update, then you'll have to do it again.  It's better to open a finder Library window and grab the icon at the top of the window and drag it to the finder's sidebar.  This shortcut will survive future updates.

  • Folder Icons not displaying in a new folder

    Hello All,
I created a new folder and moved icons into it. I used it for several days with no issues. Now, when I open the folder I can't see any icons. When I open the folder "Options" is listed at the bottom. When I click the menu button, my only option is "switch application." I expected to see the menu with "move, hide, show all" but its not there.
If I leave the new folder open, after about 60 seconds the folders do come into view and the normal menu is displayed when I press the menu button.
Why does it take so long for the folders to show up and does anyone know how to make it stop ? It didn't do this a few days ago.
    THANKS

This happened to me and another user here before. When I clicked on the folder it said options on the bottom and when I hit the back key the icons appeared for a quick second and then it would go back to my homescreen. Try pulling the battery out with the phone on and leave it out for 30 seconds. Replace it and allow 1-3 minutes for the phone to reboot. Then check the folder again. This worked for me and the other user as well. Please let us know if it helps you too.

  • Iphone back up in library folder, but not on itunes - pls help

using iphone 4 and mb pro..  i am trying to restore from a back up. most recent back up says corrupted, so i'm trying to use the one before that (relatively recent) also.  i'm not using icloud.
the back up i want doesn't appear in my itunes preferences choices to select, but the one i want to use does appear in my library/mobilesync folder... can anyone walk me thru how to get the one from the mac folder to appear in the itunes preferences or an appropriate solution?   thank you...

I backed up my computer - but not my iphone on time machine.  Will the backup file on time machine be from the last iphone backup?  or from my last iphone sync? (I won't have access to my time machine drive for a few days, and am stressing out trying to find another way to retrieve the lost info)

  • Folder contents not displayed - Is this a bug or a feature?

If I import a complete folder structure from my harddisk (referenced file mode), I get a neatly reproduced folder structure in the Aperture project window. However, if I click on of the folders, no pictures are displayed in the Aperture browser. Apperently, you have to click on the automatically created albums within the folders to see the pictures.
Am I doing something wrong or is this (another) badly implemented feature of Aperture?

Feature. But not a very good one.

  • After Lion upgrade Applications folder will not display alphabetically by Name.

The list will change display when selecting label, date, etc.; however, when choosing Name, the display is still not alphabetical.

    Thanks for the quick advice!
Unfortunately, I am still unable to open my core productivity apps, namely Skype and Evernote. Twitter, as well, could not start. But interesting quick fix though, I never knew you could do that.

  • Info View Public Folder not displayed

I have installed BO XI r2 and have configured two users in the CMC within a development environment with 35 named licenses. When i start Info View and log in as a new user the Public Folder is not displayed only Inbox and the Personal folder. Anybody know why the Public folders are not displayed. Permissions?
I have not changed any settings for Admin or Everyone and setup the new user by adding them to an existing group with full control.

It's a permissions issue most likely, you need to give the Group this users belong to minimum View rights on the Root folders.
    go to CMC>Folders>Rights

  • No warning before moving the ~/Library folder...

    OSX 10.7.3 on Macbook Air 13.3' i5 1.7Ghz 128GB.
Yesterday I was working on a Finder window opened on my ~/Library.
As I accidentally dragged the icon displayed in the Title area, the OS lost my user settings...
I quickly realized that my action caused my ~/Library folder to be moved to my ~/Desktop.
Since the ~/Library is a hidded folder in Lion, it may not be so trivial to figure out what happens whn you move it.
I had a CCC backup from the day before, so I restored the system with no damage.
(I didn't try to move the Library back, and opted for the safest way)
I wish that moving of critical system folders were signaled with a warning message, at least.

My own Lion system did not allow this.
I just created a new admin test account, opened a Finder window to its library, and tried to drag the library "proxy icon" at the top of that window onto the Desktop. Dragging produced only the "green plus" copy pointer, and so I could copy the Library folder but not move it, which is as it should be.
Looking in Terminal, I found that the home Library carried a protective "everyone deny delete" ACL, as do the other default  subfolders of a new user account:
    2010-Computer:~ t1$ ls -ldeO@ ~/Library
    drwx------@ 29 t1  staff  hidden 986 Feb 27 14:01 /Users/t1/Library
        com.apple.FinderInfo     32
    0: group:everyone deny delete
I then removed that protective ACL:
    2010-Computer:~ t1$ chmod -N ~/Library
    2010-Computer:~ t1$ ls -ldeO@ ~/Library
    drwx------@ 29 t1  staff  hidden 986 Feb 27 14:01 /Users/t1/Library
        com.apple.FinderInfo     32
Now I could move the Library folder onto the Desktop by dragging its proxy icon (as mentioned, this was a temporary disposable test account!).
Had you previously altered any permissions on the Library folder or on your home folder?
