My Lightning Charger Won't Work

my lightning charger for my iPod Touch 5th gen won't work, but when i plug it into another charger it does. i don't have any extra chargers at home, and need to figure out what's wrong with it. any help?

Sounds like it simply malfunctioning.
Try swapping the charger (plug) vs the cable, using the one that you know is working.  From there you can isolate which is at fault.

  • My iPod touch 4th generation charger won't work!

I have a black 4th gen. iPod touch with 5.1 iOS. The charger won't work anymore and I think something is cut in the wire. If I get a new one do I have to pay, if so were can I get one?

I think you mean the cable.  Yes, that is covered by the warranty that comes with the iPod. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If defective and not abused and within warranty, Apple will replace the cable.

  • My apple lightning charger is not working after the ios 8.2 update.

Since the update, my brand new iPhone 6 won't work with apple lightning charger cables. Anyone else having this issue?

  • IPod charger won't work

It was fine when I went to bed and this morning it wouldent work it still looks the same but it won't work at all..

    Not Charge

    - Try another cable. The cable for 5G iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Gooseneck Adapter for dock charger won't work

I bought the Apple Shuffle car charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and Shuffle works great. But since I have a standard, when I shift, the Shuffle is too close to the gear shift. So I bought the gooseneck adapter and Shuffle won't work. Took gooseneck back to store, thinking it was defective, but 2nd one doesn't work either. Any suggestions??

  • MY CHARGER WON'T WORK...HELP!?

    Hello!
So my really old charger after about 4 years just broke on me about a month ago, so I bought a new one online for a MacBook Pro. Now all of a sudden this new charger doesn't work either. I've only had this one for the past month, not even. I picked up the power source box? (or whatever you want to call it) and when I did it sounded like there is a ball in it moving. Does that mean it's completely broken? I don't want to have to buy ANOTHER new one. It isn't working when it's plugged into multiple outlets, when I connect the plug into my computer no green light comes on/red light saying its charging. Please help I don't want to have to buy a new one!
    Thank you!

And, what would you expect us to do? We can't make your charger work. Think about what you might do if your car wouldn't start. You'd take it to the mechanic to fix it. Well, the mechanic for anything made by Apple is your local Apple Store.

  • My charger won't work???

My macbookpro charger sometmes stopes working theres no light on or nothing can you help please thanks....

  • New iPod touch 5th generation charger won't work with computers or USB power adapter?

I just got this charger less than two weeks ago and just yesterday it started saying "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work on this iPod." It will only work on some occasions, but most of the time it won't. Other times it will show that it is charging, but when I select to "Trust" my computer it stops charging. When I plug it into the USB power adapter, it rarely works (even when I try it in different outlets.) Any way to solve this issue?

  • MacBook Pro charger won't work

My new macbook pro's charger stopped working. I tried switching outlets to see if it would work but it didn't. Also I noticed something strange, when I plug in the MacBook into different outlets the LED on the charger turns on for one second then doesn't work (Does anyone know why this happen and if there's a fix?). Also is there a way I can check if the problem is within the MacBook or the charger. I can't really go to an apple store so please don't say call apple or go to the store, and I dont have any other computers to check if the charger works on, thanks in advance. I hope there's a way to fix this problem. I tried cleaning the MagSafe place and tried SMC reset, anything else I can do?

If this is a new MacBook Pro, do you mean new to you since Apple no longer sells the MBP with Mac OS X 10.7.3  That would be at least a three year old machine.
If the Apple store is not an option, you will have to call Apple for help, try the AppleCare support number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 or start a service request by going to the ExpressLane at https://expresslane.apple.com

  • Help! Charger won't work!

Whenever I charge my iPod I plug in the white charger (the one that comes with the iPod) into the wall.
Problem is, I plug it in and out multiple times but the little thunderbolt that appears on the battery icon won't appear when I plug my charger in
I've tried other USBwall plugs but the same problem happens
Rare times the little thunderbolt will appear on the battery icon and it will charge
One time I left the charger in overnight and when I looked at it, the battery was full (the charging sign didn't appear)

There is a bug that causes the iPod Touch to indicate that the battery is full even when it isn't. However, if you leave it plugged in, then after a few minutes the indicator will change.
The symptom I've seen is that when I plug in the charger, the "slide to unlock" screen appears with the part discharged battery in the middle of the screen while the small battery icon in the top right of the screen indicates a full battery. It sorts itself out after a few minutes.
Since you say that when you left it overnight you then found that the battery was full, it suggests that this is simply the indicator bug that I've mentioned. To test this, plug in the charger and if it appears that it is not charging, simply leave it alone and check it again after five or ten minutes. Does it say it's charging now?

  • My ipod charger won't work

So a few days ago my ipod 5 wouldn't charge unless I put it a certain way and now the tip of the wire fell kinda thin compared to the rest of the wire

Likely a bad cable but try:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If either the iPod or cable is defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

  • Lightning cable won't work with any computers, but will work with wall chargers

My iPod Touch (5th Gen)'s cable is having some issues. I can not connect to any computers with it (I've tried two different iMacs, my Macbook Pro, and a car USB port that is used to play music through the car speakers). It used to work intermittently for a while, but now it doesn't work in any situation with computers. However, it will work with various power sources that have a USB port on them, but don't transfer data (A USB battery and a wall adaptor). This is using the AmazonBasics Apple Certified Lightning to USB Cable. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FA4Y66U/) I've had this issue with both iOS 8 and iOS 7, even after completely wiping the iPod.

    Try a genuine Apple cable

  • Lightning charger won't charge iPhone

I got my iPhone back in september when it first came out. Everything was fine until the past week. My phones charger broke, I've tried restoring my phone etc... And the charger is 100% broken. I'm trying to save my phones battery as much as possible and so I have it off when I'm not out, therefore I can't answer the apple support calls. It's winding me up so much because soon enough my phone will lose battery and I'll end up having to spend money on buying a new charger when I believe I should be given a new, working one. Is there any other way of getting in touch with apple because of course I can't answer calls....
    Thanks, Daniel :)

  • Iphone 5 won't charge unless I wiggle the cable around to fine a spot where it works. It's not the cable/charger as it works perfectly in other iPhone 5's. I haven't even had it a year so it's still under warranty and the phone is in very good condition

I haven't even had it a year so it's still under warranty and the phone is in very good condition and has never been abused/dropped etc. I'm taking it into apple tomorrow for an appointment. Has anyone had this problem? if so, what happens? thanks

I had the same problem and took my iPhone 5 into the Apple store.  What happened was a little embarrassing.  The genius took out a "special tool" (a paper clip) and began digging out an unimaginable amount of lint from the lightning connector port.  After that I was able to connect the cord and charge without any issues.
A few days after, I realized that my problems associated with the remote/mic not working on my ear pods might be due to the same issue.  (The volume and action buttons on the ear pods sometimes were not responsive)  I grabbed a paper clip and began digging.  Again, a large wad of lint came out of the headphone port and my ear pods have worked perfectly since.
