My Lion is now roaring!
Updated a few days ago from SL and had loads of problems (Safari, Mail etc)
Lion was slow and was rubbish in performance compared to SL.
Decided to revert back to SL and create a boot disk of Lion and format my HD. Installed Lion again using the disk and is now 100% better. After indexing and TM had finished running I know feel this is running better than SL.
Can't really explain why but this method worked for me.

Have you tried starting in Safe Mode and see if the slowness still occurs?
Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items (-), you can always add them back with the (+). Also look in /Library/Startup Items. Nothing is put in that folder by default, so anything in there is yours.
Reboot normally and test. -
I installed Lion and now CS4 won't open. I get a note that sayd "you need to install Java runing, but you are not connected to the internet (BUT I AM CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET). It goes on to say "to install Java runtime later, open "Adobe Illustrator CS4" again....I try but it still won't let me open Adobe Illustrator or update Java

I upgraded to Lion and now my iPhoto won't open and I don't know where my pictures are
I upgraded to Lion and now i don't have Iphoto anymore. Where did all of my pictures go??
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List. -
I upgraded to Mountain Lion and now I can't use any of my software!
What a disaster and huge mistake. Upgraded to Mountain Lion and now I can't run Autocad 2012 for Mac, any of my Adobe Creative suites software such as Photoshop, Illustrator.. and now I can't even do upgrades because Mountain Lion doesn't allow me to launch DMGs. I've lost thousands of $'s in software, not to mention time, but most importantly now I can't even work! I just tried to revert back to Snow Leopard by intalling it back in my hard drive and it won't let me. I never used Time Machine. Is there any way on earth I can revert back to my old operating software??? Please help. And if you haven't upgraded yet and are thinking about it. BEWARE - and don't do it. I've been reading that Mountain Lion isn't working with Microsoft applications either. Omy...I haven't even checked that.

So basically I can't use ANY of the programs I ran before. And yes I have googled desperately all day. Adobe has some suggestions - like deleting a Flex files - which I did...Defragmenting - which I did. And most importantly provides am Adobe Licensing Repair tool to fix - which I can't open because Mountain Lion won't mount the DMG in order to run it! It's a complete disaster and I don't have the money or time to purchase and or reinstall everything. I am just screwed.
No you are not, calm down, cbs20 already gave you the answer on opening dmg files, updates are available for most of your programs and I assume you have licenses for the Adobe products. AutoCad you'll have to wait for.
And please .... Start Backing Things Up, you could lose it all without one, work included. -
I have just updated to Lion and now my folders no longer show number of items on the bottom. Is there a fix for this? I allways found that handy. Now I have to click on an icon on the top, This is a backward step if that is now the only way to see the number of items. Am I missing something obvious?

In the good old days of Snow Leopard, an open Finder folder had a border along the bottom of the window which could show the number of items in that window and the total available space on the hard disk or partition that folder resides on. That bottom border is gone in Lion and those two bits of information are gone with it. Is that what you're talking about? If so, I'd like to learn how to get it back too and "Show Item Info" is not the way. -

Make sure you have the latest version of parrallels. Think older versions are not compatible.

I've reset my PPAM before to get around Firmware lock, but I've upgraded to mountain lion and now need to do the same thing, but I can't reset the PRAM. I've heard of the chip that is on the post 2011 macs, but I must not have one? What to do? Also, I can not get start up chimes unless I have the factory startup disk in. Just downloaded Lion and now iMovie won't respond when I try to open it. Even tried deleting the program (since it was an older version) and bought it new from the app store, but still won't respond.
Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?

Installed os X Mountain Lion and now computer won't boot (first had keyboard issues-reverse caps)

I just updated my macbook air to osX mountain lion and now it will not boot at all.. At first I was having issues with the keyboard and keys typying weird characters.. and the caps lock was stuck on reverse. Now I have nothing.. Can someone help.What happens when you try to boot?

I just upgraded to OS X Lion and now I can't open the application Adobe ImageReady CS because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
There is no fix. It simply means that the software is outdated. Adobe would need to release a newer non-PPC version that supports Lion. They may have done that already, I don't know.

Hi, Macbook Pro 10.6.8 yahoo ect tells me to upgrade Safari. I guess I can't unless I buy m.Lion. Now safari will not quit. Quit is no longer highighted on my safari drop down menu. Help thanks, Mary

HELP!! i have a ton of videos of my boys stored in iPhoto..They played fine on my old OSX system (leopard). However, I just upgraded to snow leopard and then to mountain lion and now i can't open my videos at all anymore. HELP!!
Can you tell us about one or more of the video files - what are they? QuickTime? MP4? Something else? How did you create the video files in the first place?
I do a lot of video and when I upgraded to Snow Leopard I discovered that many of the QT videos that I had created previously (via iMovie & Final Cut) would not play correctly in QuickTime X - the bizarre behavior was that QT X acted as if my video files were only audio files! I reported this to Apple at the time but never heard anything back, and there hasn't been any change in later updates to QT X.
The solution was to (re)install QuickTime 7. But first look in your Applications > Utilities folder. When you upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard, the installer normally moves the old QT 7 program to your Utilities folder. If it's there, try using QT 7 to play one of your video files. If QT 7 is not there, you can download and install it from here Make sure you are running at least OS X 10.6.3 before you install QT 7. It's even better if you make sure you are running 10.6.8 which was the last release of Snow Leopard.
