My Live ID Keeps Locking Out

In the last few days my Live ID keeps locking out. I get the error below.
Sign-in is blocked
Sign-in with <myliveid.com> is blocked for one of these reasons:
Someone entered the wrong password too many times.
If you signed up for this account through an organization, you might not be able to use it yet.
I am able to change the password but within minutes it locks out again. I have done this 6 times now in the last couple of days. It appears something is constantly trying to login to my Live ID account with the wrong password.
I have a Windows Phone and Windows 8 linked with this account as well. Is it possible that one or both of these are trying to connect to my account after a pw change and causing the lockout? This may have all started when I intentionally change the Live
ID password to solve an issue with OneDrive.

Hello There,
This has been driving me crazy for months now too. First, I thought it was an issue with Microsoft's system, so I ignored it since I only logged in sparingly. Then as I started using my login more often, I started to investigate. By going to hotmail.com
(outlook.com or https://account.live.com/Activity), I noticed that the false login attempts were coming for my office IP, Windows Platform and Internet Explorer. I narrowed it down to my PC, so after speaking with an MS rep. over chat. She suggested I clear
out my browser, which could be causing cred. issues. I cleaned out and reset everything in IE, and started using another browser exclusively, while checking my activity. It showed my successful logins with the browser but it also showed unsuccessful logins
from IE, even though I never used it, what?!
I have a Windows 8.1 Pro system with a local account, but some app must be doing this. So I investigated, first the Windows Store - have never entered an ID and it was still blank/inactive, then I tested Skype, which is always running, but it wasn't it.
Then I tested Outlook 2013, which is also always running and lo and behold, it's OUTLOOK! When the app is closed, there are no errors for hours at a time, when I open Outlook 2013, the errors come back every 25-40 min. intervals.
Here is the crazy part, I have disabled every single plugin, and I only have one Exchange account on Outlook, which is our own setup, which happens to be my live ID email but I don't know what could be trying to login, since I never linked anything with
my Live ID.
I am leaning to this being; 1) a bug, which needs to be documented and resolved or 2) Something sneaky of MS forcing Outlook 2013 to login to a Live ID account, through its new 'Office Account' system. Again, to be clear, I have never entered any 'Live ID'
credentials for Outlook 2013, so I don't know why it attempts a login and what password it pretends to be login in with.
Any feedback is appreciated.

  • ITunes Keeps Locking Out!

When I open up iTunes and start moving songs to my iPod, the iTunes program keeps locking me out. When I go to drag files over to my iPod Icon on the left panel, they start copying over... then in the middle of the transfer, the appearance of the iTunes program fonts change slightly and a small white box appear in the upper left hand corner of the program covering up "file" "Edit" and "Control."
If I go into the search panel of Itunes and typoe in anything in that box, instead of it appearing there, the text appears in the small box in the upper left hand corner.
In addition, the iPod itself never comes out of the "Do Not Disconnect" mode.
Anybody have an idea as to what is going on?

As an update, it happened twice yesterday.  Both times I attempted to make a purchase I had to verify stuff.

  • LMS/ACS account keeps locking out

    Hi
Our LMS environment is integrated with ACS 4.1 for RSA authentication purposes.
We have a ACS account which is used by LMS to run administrative jobs on end devices.  Periodically this account will appear with 'CS Account expired' or 'CS PAssword invalid'.  This is a machine/system account so should never have an incorrect password.
Is there any circumstances why this account would lockout when connecting to end devices. This is not limited to the time of day or the types of devices or networks being accessed.
Has anyone come across this type of issue before ?
    Many Thanks

It is a bit of a tricky one because the majority of jobs succeed and then the odd job may fail because of this credential issue and its not necessarily the same device as this may pass the next time.  Obviously logs on the devices won't give any further information either as authentication did not pass.
This almost makes me wonder whether its a timeout issue from when the credentials are entered to authenticating with the ACS server.  Just trying to understand how a machine account could get a password wrong as there is no human interaction involved.
Are there any audit logs\tools available in LMS that may provide further info on a failed instance or is the ACS logs the most info you can get other than putting a sniffer trace on ? With a sniffer trace, chances are the device would work the next time around.

  • Windows 7 PC locking out domain user in Windows Server 2008r2 domain

I have reviewed dozens of related questions, but none have given me an answer that works on this situation.
We replaced an XP desktop with a Windows 7 desktop.  It keeps locking out just user(of over 25 migrated).  I have disabled the Windows 7 credentials, made sure the patches were in place, there are no other devices-wireless or otherwise.
The users pc has a kvm attached for another system, we have a Windows 2008r2 server.  The user does not save any passwords, I have make changes recommended in the registry.  They do have a couple mapped drives.  Logs show that it is the users
pc that is causing the lockout, but much of the users time they are on the other system.  We have 4 other users that have the exact same setup but are not having any issues.  It happens several times a day and I must unlock their password on the
ad.  Sometimes if we wait 45 min or so it will unlock itself.  Strange considering settings lockout user after 5 bad passwords and lock them out for 120 minutes.
I have tried virtually everything I have read relating to this issue in Win7, 2008r2.
User is getting frustrated and so am I!.
    Thank you.

  • Domain admin accounts locks out constantly

    Hello.
My boss has a domain admin account that keeps locking out, and we can't figure out why. We can tell from the domain controller logs that krbtgt is the *offending* service, and it is coming from a sql server that we have. In looking over the server, we can't
find where any passwords might be stored that would be trying to pass this automatically. We've even manually removed any profile information for this account that we could find. If I reset the account, I can then log into the server with his account and everything
is fine, but after logging out the account locks again.
Does anybody have any ideas for how to fix this?
If it helps, the EventID is 4771 and the Status that gets returned is 0x12

I have something that can help you enabling netlogon logging on all DCs.
    1. Make a list of DCs and save it in a text file called dcs.txt (you can do that by running netdom query DC).
    2. Download psexec.exe from sysinternals
    3. Then run the following to enable logging:
    for /f %i in (dcs.txt) do psexec \\%i c:\windows\system32\nltest.exe /dbflag:0x2080ffff
    4. Take the log files all in your place:
    for /f %i in (dcs.txt) do copy /y \\%i\admin$\debug\netlogon.log .\%i.netlogon.log
    5. then search for wrong passwords:
    type *.netlogon.log |findstr /i 0xC000006A > badpasswords.txt
    6. Disable netlogon logging:
    for /f %i in (dcs.txt) do psexec \\%i c:\windows\system32\nltest.exe /dbflag:0x0

  • Visual Studio Test Controller recovery locks out the user domain account, cannot log into PC

On the recovery tab of the Visual studio Test controller Services properties dialog, there are three recovery settings:
First Failure, Second failure and Subsequent failures. The default settings for these options is to "Restart the Service". I changed my domain password this morning, restared the PC and could not log in because the Visual Studio Test Controller
service tried to restart with the wrong credentials in an infinite loop. This resulted in my account with the domain controller getting locked out. The delay between service restarts was very quick and I could not login and stop the service. The kind admin
fellow logged in  to the PC and changed the service settings.
Is there a place where the recovery service restart interval can be changed to prevent this situation?

    Hi bcautest1,
    >>I changed my domain password this morning, restared the PC and could not log in because the Visual Studio Test Controller service tried to restart with the wrong credentials in an infinite loop. This resulted in my account with the domain controller
    getting locked out.
You said that you couldn't log in, do you mean that you couldn't log in your machine or others?
If you change the domain password, generally we could open the Test Controller configuration and change the logon account for this service.
But if you mean that you couldn't log in your windows now, I'm afraid that it is not the test controller and Agent issue, it would be the windows issue, because it still has this issue even if you use other servers.

  • Incredibly weird issue, Win 7 account locked out

    Hi folks,
Ill dive straight in with this one as Ive been working on it since 9am today, with little progress.
I have USER A who's account locks out without them even being logged into their machine. The user changed their password yesterday as per company policy and since then it keeps locking out after 3-5 minutes.
    Platform - WIN 7
    Pro 64 Bit
    Server - Win Server 2008 R2 Standard
I have done the following -
Cleared credential manager - NO DIFFERENCE
    Reset IE
and cleared personal details during reset - NO DIFFERENCE
    Tested by logging
onto another machine - NO JOY
Recreated their login profile - NO
    DIFFERENCE
Checked for logged on terminal services accounts - NONE LOGGED IN
Connected devices ie. iPad, iPhone, Android - NONE
    I have checked
on our DC's and have found the following -

I do not think this is an issue with the users machine. The reason I say this is because for one the issue follows the user when they logon to another machine. The second thing is, I took the machine completely off the network, as in disconnected it. Reset
the users account on the DC and just waited on the DC for 5 minutes. I double clicked into the users account again and under the account tab it was locked out again. What on earth could be causing this?
    Jeet S

Event ID 4776 Status 0xc0000234 tells us there was a failed attempt because the account was already locked.
    - Have you searched the logs for what computer is doing the lockout?
    - Is there a possibility that the user is still logged on a different workstation and has it locked?
    Maybe this can help:
    Get the user's distinguishedname:
    $DN = (get-aduser <username> ).distinguishedname
The check the Object Metadata for that account to find out exactly what time and DC the account was locked out on:
    repadmin /showobjmeta <yourDC> "$DN"
Look through the results and find the property for "LockoutTime"  (That'll tell you where to look)

  • User account locked out in IAS Server.

    Hi,
Windows Server 2003 stand-alone with IAS Server working as a RADIUS Server for WIFI connections.
There is a domain user account that keeps locking out randomly a few times a day.
This user account doesn't show up within the IAS server log file.
The Audit Policy is enabled in the w2k3 server for Succes, Failure and the events below comes up for every locking,
The Caller User Name is the IAS Server machine account.
I had to enable in the DCs the Netlogon debug mode to get the lock outs source, that turns out to be the IAS Server.
This is quite strange as I can't find the user account within the IAS Server log.
Could anybody clues me in on this issue?
    Thak you.

it seems to me the user is logged on to some computer with an expired password. The computer attempts to connect to wifi and thus authenticate using the users expired credentials.
Ask the user to reboot all of the computers he uses. If the problem persists, check if the user has open sessions on other machines and check the configuration of the wireless network on the client.

  • I am attempting to make my first purchase in the App store, yet it is asking me security questions I know I didn't enable and I keep getting locked out of my account despite resetting everything.

This usually wouldn't pose to be a problem, but I am a college freshman and I just redeemed my $100 giftcard to the app store. I am beyond frustrated and don't know what to do.
It is my first time making a purchase off of this Mac with this account, so it is asking me two security questions. It keeps asking me who my favorite and least favorite teachers were. I know for a fact that these are not the security questions I enabled, so I went in to change them again and logged out of everything. I logged back in and I was getting the same thing from the App store -- it was asking me questions I didn't enable. I've been locked out of my account for eight hours twice and all of my Mac's information is at home and not easily accessable to me, so I don't want to have to call and be asked for information I do not have.
What do I do? I need some crucial apps for classes that start in less than fourty-eight hours from now?
I have changed my appleID's information three times now: passwords, rescue email, and of course, my security questions. I am at my wits end and not pleased that I will possibly be losing $100!

You've been hitten by Apple's recent SNAFU. I fear you are SoL until their pending investigation fiasco is over with.

  • I got locked out from my iPad mini during setup, keep ask me for passcode but I didn't set one up.  Reboot unsuccessful, iTune won't let me connect because I didn't enter my passcode. How to fix this?

I got locked out from my iPad mini during my initial setup.  Keep ask me for passcode but I haven't setup one.  Reboot and restart didn't solve the problem, tried connect to iTunes but it won't let me because it requires the passcode.  Tried my Exchanged password, Apple ID password and my iPhone passcode but none work.  Any idea to resolve this?

Try and force your iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: Data will be lost.
