My m8020n continuously locks up. I have tried everything I know to do. Please help!
I have added RAM, replaced the CPU fan and heatsink, upgraded to Windows 7 PRO 64bit, reformatted and reinstalled Vista 32 bit and tried a BIOS update (which failed) and still no luck. The PC will boot up and not lock up in safe mode but as soon as it boots normally, it freezes. What could the problem be?

Hello csbowker, You may have a couple of issues going on here. First, the BIOS can only be upgraded from within Vista.
Usually when a system will boot into Safe Mode , but not into the normal desktop, the issue would most likely be a driver issue, since when booting into safe mode, the system only loads the needed drivers to get to a Safe Mode desktop screen.
Here is the link for the BIOS for your system. If you want to upgrade the BIOS, I would suggest removing the added memory, and reinstall the Vista operating system, flash the BIOS, and then see if you can upgarde to, or perform a fresh install Windows 7.
You also should be aware that the added memory may not be compatible with your system or the existing system memory if you kept the original memory and added more memory.
I might suggest going to Crucial, or Kingston memory and run the Memory Configurator and see what memory is supported for your system.
Even though the memory you added may be the same type and speed of the original system memory, the timings may be different, and cause the lockups as you suggest. This is a very common problem.

Like others, I have the problem that itunes works but when I try to access the itunes store the status bar will stop half way through the process. After another 5 seconds or so it just completes with a blank screen.

The itunes connectivity tests pass.. which I assume mean ports, DNS, adapters, firewalls are all ok. Valid assumption?
I can acces secure websites from the browser.
I've completely uninstalled and then reinstalled all of the apple applications as per apple instructions.
I've "fixed" the host file as per Microsoft instructions.
I've run Itunes as an administrator.
I've now reached the limit of my understanding of what can be done. Suggestions?

Does your computer have one of those LSPs? If it does, try following the steps to reset the Winsock key.
1. To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Right click All Programs and choose Accessories > Command Prompt. Choose to open as an administrator.
Windows XP: Click Start > Run and type in cmd.
2. Enter the following command:
netsh winsock reset
3. Restart the computer and test the issue.
Note: If the issue returns, third-party software may be reinserting the LSP. -
I have tried everything I know to retrieve the iPhoto Library app. I detest this new Photo app, which obviously wasn't designed with photographers in mind. I desperately need help in retrieving the old app and have not been able to do it so far. I have gone to my app folder and tried to update my iPhoto Library. I have gone to my trash and brought it over to my desktop and still cannot use it. Please help!
Try this fix discovered by User photosb189:
From Finder, hold down the option key on your keyboard and click on the Go menu at the top of the screen
Select Library from the drop down menu
Then navigate to Application Support > iLifeAssetManagement > assets
Right click on the 'sub' folder and choose Compress
Drag the resulting zip file to your Desktop (as a backup)
Go to your System Preferences and choose iCloud
Turn OFF the iCloud Photos option
Go back to Library > Application Support and DELETE the iLifeAssetManagement folder
Now, in System Preferences, turn the iCloud Photos option ON
iPhoto should now be able to launch. Give it enough time to re-download your Photo Stream content. if you are missing any of your My Photo Stream photos (more than 30 days old), unzip the sub folder on your desktop and drag that into iPhoto. -
All of a sudden,will not startup (no chime), only sound is the dvd(dl) that is spinning inside. I have tried everything I know (dmc? reset), removing 1 memory module at a time and trying to startup, still no chime only spinning of disk, still disk spinning, (this is a spare-backup), and I dont want to spend alot of $.

I bought the ilife '11 iphoto upgrade. It was supposed to update my library. It has been 2 days and it is still loading. I have tried restarting with no change. Please help!

Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
Then go on to Option 2

1. When you are done Restoring Firmware, does iTunes show your iPhone's information. If yes then your iPhone is ON and working. Next step is to Reset, like you tried, but do it again, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone restarts, usually less than 15 seconds. If still no screen, hold iPhone in bright light and look at screen, is an image there? If yes, you have a "No Backlight Problem".
2. If still no image, but you have confirmed iPhone is on with iTunes or switching Vibrate Switch and getting vibration. Then take iPhone to Apple and ask Genius to reconnect the Flex Cable #1 LCD Display Flex to the Logic Board. Before opening and during all repairs it is best if the iPhone 3GS is OFF. -

My neice asked me to help fix her ipod. It says ipod disabled please connect to itunes. This is the 2nd time it has happened, 1st time her friend restored through itunes but my neice has managed to disable it again! This time im trying to fix it using different itunes and computer than before. When i connect to my computer itunes tells me it cannot connect due to incorrect passcode so to insert correct passcode on the ipod but i cant as its totally disabled.
I have gone through all the instructions (some vary but i have tried all versions more than once) telling me how to restore but after the apple symbol it is supposed to come up with the picture of the cord and computer this is when itunes connects apparently for you to restore. However the apple symbol appears and when i keep holding home button it just flashes back up to the original screen saying ipod disabled please connect to itunes!!!!!! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Oh i also made sure i downloaded all of the updates for itunes so the version is the very newest incase this was a problem but it still does not help.

DeniseI know this sounds stupid, but I was having the same problem.Everyone was telling me how to restore it and when I was suppose to get the "connect usb to apple logo", I never got it and it went straight to start up just like normal. Like I said I know this sounds stupid, but I worked on this thing for 6 hours and finally read that it is possible to press the Home button to hard and it will not work. Soooooo, I re-did and just barely pressed the Home button, and wah-lah....it worked the first time. Again, I don't understand and I don't know why, all i do know is that it worked. Good luck and I hoped this helped.
