My Mac Book Air is professionally attacked; how to clean laptop?

Hi, nice and intelligent people:
I took my computer to a sketchy Korean repair shop. They told me that they used "Inception" to hack into my computer, laughing as they handed my computer to me. (http://www.breaknenter.org/projects/inception/) Nervous, I reviewed my computer and decided to do a clean wipe and not access the internet. After a fortnight of tension, stress, cigarettes and alcohol, my computer has been wiped three times given several symptoms --text being altered before my eyes, strange "VGA" looking logo near the battery-menu appearing on my login window, odd text across screen when "fast switching" users, missing programs from dock, changed user and admin settings, missing files, checked remote-login and screen-sharing, and a slew of other unexplainable incidents. The problem is that the symptoms have reappeared. Also, every time I change my passwords, including my firmware password, they seem to have it. I'm afraid they may have done something to my BIOS, or placed something "buried". Any ideas or solutions to wipe the computer absolutely? Help?
(Incidentally, I gave up on an iphone 5 with the same symptoms and "buried" issues. I just saw a flashes of what appeared to be an icon, an icon of a tablet being turned off or on? I've seen it before on this "infected" phone. My life is a digital disaster. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to endure my life at all.)
Thanks and does anyone know how to attack hackers from a hacked computer? Help, please.

The only real way to completely erase the drive would be to use the Internet Recovery System that Apple has for re-installing.
Boot the computer and hold cmd+option/alt+r
This should take you to the Internet recovery. This is important because it's different from just accessing the recovery partition which is constantly on your machine. This way you are accessing a fresh copy of everything directly from the Apple servers.
Once you've loaded the Internet recovery (can take some time as it's downloading items to use), go to Disk Utility and re-partition your hard drive with 1 new partition (this will ensure that anything that was on the machine will be deleted completely. Both in your software and from the recovery partition.
Continue to use the internet recovery to then install Mavericks on to your machine.
You can always look here (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718) for information on OS X recovery.
Hopefully this helps

    * Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded.

You cannot. Your best course of action is to immediately change all your internet passwords, notify the police and your insurance company. Send the remote wipe command to the MBA through iCloud.com and buy a new one from the insurance reimbursement.

  • I just got a new iMac.  I set it up and all of my contacts have disappeared.  They have disappeared on my iPhone and my mac book air as well.  How do I get them back?

All contacts have disapppeared from my iPhone, my mac book air and my new iMac.  How do I get back.  I assume it has something to with iCloud.  Thank you.

Use your computer's backup to transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link, or do the same with both computers networked in some fashion, which shouldn't be hard to do if both computers are connected to the same wireless network.

  • My mac book air has been stolen, how can I report it to apple

is theresomeplace I can check before buying another one fromebay?

You can go here. It doesn't do much though, insofar as getting it back. But it does afford you with identification information to give the police, if you registered the product.

I hope you enabled "Find My Mac" on that computer, because with any luck, Logging into your iCloud account could yield its location if the thief tries to use the computer. It ain't much, but it's a far stretch better than just "reporting it" to the police.

  • Mac book air Two account iTune, How?

Can i have two iTune account on one MacBook Air easier than Microsoft desktop?

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes forums.

  • I have just bought iphone 4S . I would like to use it as a wi fi dongle for my Mac Book air .Does anyone know how to do that please ?

    Please see above

You first have to purchase "tethering" from your phone service provider. Then it is just a matter of enabling the tethering within the iPhone preferences (create a personal hotspot), and then pairing your phone via Bluetooth. Here is a support document from AT&T on the subject.

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect everything targeting the Mac.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

how do i get more memory on my mac book air? is says that i can add 2 more gig ??? or wat files can i delete

Macbook Air memory is soldered to the logicboard.
You can only get 4GB or 8GB (2012 Models) in the Air when you order it that way.  Otherwise, you're stuck with 2GB.
Unless you're talking about hard drive space - then it is upgradeable - click HERE to see which one corresponds to your model.
