My MAC book air keeps shutting down alone, what could I do?

since yesterday my mac book air keep shuting down alone with full battery, why is that? what could I do? Im working on my thesis so I really need my computer.

If this is a new Macbook Air - return it and ask for a replacement. You seem to be having this issue (the one which I described) which is still ongoing and occurring with new Machines. Apple has (in the US) a <14 day return policy do not let it expire. Especially if it occurs while plugged into mains power.
If it is not a new machine one other sometime/part-time cure is an SMC reset or a PRAM/NVRAM reset.
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

• Why does my mac book air just shut down when working

When using my mac book air it just shuts down. I usually need to tap several keys to restart. Any help?

If you mean that it just shuts off without any warning, then this might help:

Otherwise it needs to be fixed.

• My new MacBook Air keeps shutting down the screen while I use it

My new MacBook Air keeps shutting down the screen while I use it and has to be rebooted. I took it in to the Genius desk at my local store, but they couldn't find anything wrong and said that they have never seen this problem before.
I Spoke to the IT support guy at work. He has the same problem with his new MacBook, but not with his older one. He suggested that it is a software issue with all new MacBooks and is connected to the timing of it going into sleep mode. Does anybody have a solution? Apple doesn't seem to have one.

Try a SMC reset.

Why does my new ipad air keep shutting down?

No one here can answer that. Try a reset (hold the home and power keys down until the Apple logo appears). If that does not help, take it in for diagnosis.

• My iPad air keeps shutting down on its own!

My iPad air keeps shutting down on its own, and this is the second IPad Air doing this. I really don't want to go trade it in for another. Does anyone have the same issue and is there a way to fix it? And yes I've done the manual reset and computer reset.

Memory Size & The Impact of 64-bit Applications
The iPad Air, like the iPhone 5s, ships with 1GB of LPDDR3 memory. Apple frowns upon dissection of review samples but I think it’s a safe bet that we’re not talking about a PoP (Package-on-Package) configuration but rather discrete, external DRAM here. It’s also probably a safe bet that even the iPad mini with Retina Display will ship with 1GB of memory as well.
Something I didn’t have time to address in my iPhone 5s review was the impact of 64-bit applications on memory usage. I actually ran some tests after the 5s review hit but never got the chance to share the data, so I figured now is as good a time as any to do just that.
Unlike traditional desktop OSes, iOS doesn’t support paging to disk (or in this case, NAND). Application data can either reside in memory or the associated process is terminated and has to be reloaded the next time you request it. It’s a decision likely made to both maintain user experience and limit the number of program/erase cycles on the internal NAND.
The good news is that iOS was architected to run on as little hardware as possible and as a result tends to be quite memory efficient. There are also power implications of going to larger memories. The combination of these two things has kept Apple on the conservative side of increasing memory capacity on many iDevices.
The move to a 64-bit platform however does complicate things a bit. Moving to a larger memory address space increases the size of pointers, which in turn can increase the footprint of 64-bit applications compared to their 32-bit counterparts. So although there’s clearly a performance uplift from app developers recompiling in 64-bit mode (more registers, access to new instructions), there’s also an associated memory footprint penalty. Since the iPad Air and iPhone 5s don’t feature a corresponding increase in memory capacity, I wondered if this might be a problem going forward.
To find out I monitored total platform memory usage in a couple of scenarios. Before measuring I always manually quit all open apps and performed a hard reset on the device. Note that the data below is reporting both clean and dirty memory, so it’s possible that some of the memory space could be recovered in the event that another process needed it. I hoped to minimize the impact by always working on a cleanly reset platform and only testing one app at a time.
I looked at memory usage under the following scenarios:
1) A clean boot with no additional apps open
2) Running Mobile Safari with 4 tabs open (two AnandTech.com tabs, two Apple.com tabs, all showing the same content)
3) Infinity Blade 3 (64-bit enabled) sitting at the very first scene once you start the game
4) iOS Maps in hybrid view with 3D mode enabled, with a WiFi assisted GPS lock on my physical location
5) Google Maps in the same view, under the same conditions. I threw in this one to have a 32-bit app reference point.
In general you’re looking at a 20 - 30% increase in memory footprint when dealing with an all 64-bit environment. At worst, the device’s total memory usage never exceeded 60% of what ships with the platform but these are admittedly fairly light use cases. With more apps open, including some doing work in the background, I do see relatively aggressive eviction of apps from memory. The most visible case is when Safari tabs have to be reloaded upon switching to them. Applications being evicted from memory don’t tend to be a huge problem since the A7 can reload them quickly.
The tricky part is you don’t really need all that much more memory. Unfortunately as with any dual-channel memory architecture, you’re fairly limited in how you can increase memory capacity and still get peak performance. Apple’s only move here would be to go to 2GB, which understandably comes with both power and financial costs. The former is a bigger concern for the iPhone 5s, but on the iPad Air I would’ve expected a transition sooner rather than later.

• My macbook shuts down alone what can I do

my macbook shuts down alone what can I do?

chvcarlos,
so it’s attempting to shut down by itself, but not actually shutting down, due to iTunes being active?
Which model MacBook Pro do you have? Is it Mac OS X 10.7.5 that’s installed on it, or some other version of OS X?

• I recently purchased a Mac Book Air and wanted to know what would be the best external hard drive to buy as far as the brand and GB or TB are concerned? I will basically just be storing music, papers, and a lot of pictures.

I recently purchased a Mac Book Air and wanted to know what would be the best external hard drive to buy as far as the brand and GB or TB are concerned? I will basically just be storing music, papers, and a lot of pictures. Also, how should I go about charging my computer? Should I wait until it is close to dying and then charge it?

I have had good success with HGST and Seagate HDDs. I suggest a HDD that is powered by the MBA eliminating the need for an AC cord. They now come up to 1.5 TB in capacity. In my opinion, one cannot have too much storage. If necessary, let your bank account be your guide.
Ciao.

• Mac book air keeps freezing on youtube?!

Its a new mac book air bought 1 week ago. 4gb ram 256 hdd. When I watch a video on youtube it loads then all of a sudden the white circle which shows the progress is at the beginning and the clip is still playing then shortly after the loading symbol appears and doesn't play anymore. Anybody know what the problem is?
Tried emptying history and all that other cookies and internet content. Tried the permission thingy.

Let me explain.
You can't ask a drive partition to "repair itself".
So, you have to be booted to a different drive, than the drive that is causing the problem.
In this case, your problem disk is your startup disk. The "startup disk" is the drive that you boot to every day. So in this case, we need to boot to a different disk. On your system, you have the main startup drive on one partiton, and the Recovery Disk on a separate partition. Both of these partitions physically reside on your computer's hard drive, or SSD, but appear to be two independent drives to the system.
You are going to boot to the Recovery Disk, or more accurately sometimes called, the "Recovery Partition". To do this, we use the "option boot". This means holding down the OPTION key, while booting. After a few moments, you will be presented by a display of avaialble boot disks. You choose the one marked "recovery". Once booted up, you will chose Disk Utility. This is an App that is built-in to the Recovery Partiton for the sole purpose of managing drives, disks, and partitions without having to be booted to the main startup disk.
From here, you can select the starup drive, usually called "Macintosh HD", by default. After you select the drive, you can perform actions on that drive. One button will "repair permissions", another will "verify disk", and still another with "repair disk". By running "repair disk", Disk utility will attempt to repair certain software errors on the drive that might be preventing a good read of critical files needed to boot to the startup drive.
As well, "Repair Permissions" can also fix certain problems that may make the system unusable, or difficult.
You can also exit Disk Utility to perform a reinstalltion of the operating system, or recovery from a Time Machine backup.
As a last ditch, you can use disk Utility to completely erase your startup disk, in preparation for reinstallation of the OS. (this is after ALL ELSE fails)

• My mac book air keeps starting in safe boot mode. I cant enter my password as it is caps lock so i cant access my computer. Please can someone please help me start back in normal mode? Thank you

MY Macbook air keeps starting in "safe boot" mode, no idea why. I cannot get into the system because this mode makes everything write in capital letters and my password is in lower case. I keep turning it off and on but nothing changes and i cannot access my computer. Please can someone help me? Thank you

I'm not getting a clear picture at all of what problems you're seeing. If you are seeing online accounts have their passwords changed, those accounts are being hacked. Someone may already have access to some account and is using that access to reset passwords on other accounts. Change the password on EVERY online account you have. Be sure to use a strong password, and don't use the same password on more than one site.
If you are seeing changes to your bookmarks and browser history, your Apple ID may be one of the accounts that has been hacked. After changing the password on your Apple ID, you need to lock it down with two-factor authentication:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5570
Beyond that, we will need additional details about what specific symptoms you're seeing in order to help further. One thing I can say, though, is that these problems are very unlikely to be due to any kind of malware. See my Mac Malware Guide to learn more on that topic.

• Mac book pro automatically shuts down

I bought a mac book pro last december 2012, yet i already experienced problems with my mac last january 2013. Twice it failed to open after i had it in sleep. Charger indicated no light. Twice i also had it taken in for service, in both occasions they are able to open it after several hours and days of service. During the last diagnosis, they said that they did a thorough check and it all passed. Please note that when i had it in sleep, its charge is more than 50 percent. For the third time this week, it automatically shuts down and does not open and no light in the charger also. What could be the problem? Its already the third time this happens and its really getting too tedious to have the similar problem yet the service provider said there seems to be no problem but i cant use it continuously- could i already request for replacement? Thanks.

Problem is you have a faulty Mac computer. You need to take it back in with documentation, like a movie, of the problems you are having.
Basically all Apple does is run a software test on the hardware, if it passes that test they say "Everything is Fine" even though you are having numerous problems. Without proper documentation of the problem or problems you are having you will get NO help from Apple.
