    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • My MacPro was stolen.  How can I retrieve the serial number?

My 3.5 yr Macbook Pro was stolen and I didn't record the serial number.  I need it for the police.  Who can I contact at Apple to see if they have my number?  I financed the computer through Apple.
Is there some kind of internal tracking device in the MacPro that can lead me (the police) to finding it?  I did not install any tracking device on it, but didn't know if it came with one already built in- like the Iphones have.
Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
I'm Desperate and am sick that I didn't record it in advance.
    Thanks for your help.
    Sue

If you registered your computer with Apple & setup a support profile, you can login & retrieve your SN there. If you didn't do such, you can try calling AppleCare.
If you didn't setup Find My Mac or similar before your computer was stolen, there is no way to track it. Change all of your passwords, report the loss to the police & your insurance company.

  • My little sisters ipod 1st gen was stolen last night and i dont know the serial number what do i do

hi i need some help my little sisters ipod  1st generation 8gb was stolen from my mothers car last night and i dont have anyway of getthing the serial number plz help me

If you have a backup in iTunes you can just hover the mouse over the backup to see the serial number.
Open iTunes and mouse over a device backup:
Open Preferences in iTunes. (In Mac OS X, choose iTunes > Preferences. In Windows, choose Edit > Preferences.)
    Click the Devices tab.
Position the mouse over a backup to display the phone number, serial number, and IMEI or MEID of the backed-up iPhone.

  • Someone has stolen my iPod, how do I get the serial number without the device or paperwork that came with it?

I need to get the serial number but need to know if there is a place in Itunes to get it without the device or the intital paperwork I recieved when I got it.

Maybe.  Run an iTunes device connectivity test.  Near the end of the report there should be a field indicating the last iPod that was synced with that particular iTunes library.  It will include the serial # of the device.  So if you have already synced another device since then, I'm afraid you are out of luck.
See here for instructions on running a device connectivity test.

Unfortunately yesterday my mac-book pro was stolen. Other than obtaining a police report is there any advice, i.e. can Apple remotely disable it?

I'm very sorry to hear about this theft. I don't think there's anything you or Apple can do unless you took advance preparations.
Read the article "Employee Thoughts: Protecting Your Machine in Case of Theft" in this newsletter for the sorts of things one can do in advance of a theft:

Unfortunately, there's little you can do at this point other than start changing all your passwords and hoping the police get lucky.

  • I accidentaly spilled tea in my mac book air. I did a few steps to get the water out of the track pad, and after 3 days, the computer said safe boot and i couldn't get on. The water didn't even get in the keyboard, so what should i do?

***   When you post for help, please state which OS X is installed.
If you aren't sure, (you can do this in Safe Mode) click About this Mac from your Apple menu 
Troubleshooting advice can depend on that information.

I just purchased a camera packaged with Adobe photoshop Elements 11. I have a mac book air- which does not have a cd drive. The package did not come with a code or anything that would provide me with another way to install photoshop that came with my camera. Is there any other way i can install this on my camera without using the provided cd or buying the software again?

That doesn't help the user with the serial code though.
There has to be some kind of code somewhere within the package. The disk itself does not contain one. You can look here for help with finding your serial number:

  • I have a mac book air. I felt down and I have broken the screen: several white lines on the screen. Do you know if I can only change the screen? Is it expensive?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Take your MacBook Air to an Apple Store or reseller to have your display replaced. If you want, you can buy the display yourself and install it, but as you can see, that's expensive > http://www.ifixit.com/MacBook-Parts/MacBook-Air-13-Inch-Mid-2012-Display-Assembl y/IF188-083?utm_source=ifixit_guide&utm_medium=guide_intro&utm_content=required_ items&utm_term=macbook_air_13%22_mid_2012

I have forgotten my Password to be able to connect between my desktop Mac and Mac Book on my home network. How can I recover the password or change it?

The password used to log in to a user account remotely is the same as you would use to log into it locally. You can also use your Apple ID, so try that.
To change your login password read OS X Mavericks: Reset a login password

My IPOD was stolen how do I get the serial number?

The easiest way to find your serial number is this Open Itunes...click help... run diagnostics.....(tick or untick as necessary) so that you just have ticked the last two,  device connectivity and device sync.  run these tests. it will say no ipod/ipad found but will give results of test....scroll down to bottom of results... here you will find the serial number of your last attached devices.
