My Mac book pro froze while streaming Netflix?
Mac book pro froze while watching Netflix?
How large is your hard drive and how much hard drive space do you have left?
Please describe in detail all you have attempted to do in order to resolve the issue.
It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions. -
Mac book pro stops during startup?
My Second hand Mac book pro insists on shutting down before a fullstart up. Ihave tried booting from Disk warrior but shut downs happens before a full start up.
Battery is fully charged ..green indicator. However if hold the C key without a cd it manages to fully boot up with a cd ( diskwarrior ) sitting in the drive.
I am just now trying to run Permissions repair using disk utility before it shuts down.
In the meantime .. any ideas?
JHold c booting off the disk suggests the machine is working and perhaps the hard drive isn't due to software or hardware issues.
Your next step is to determine if the hard drive is accessible or not.
For Snow Leopard 10.6, you should have gotten a disk(s) most likely grey, from the previous owner. Hold c boot off the first one and see if with Disk Utility the internal drive appears on the left side. If not the drive is dead and needs to be replaced. If the replaced drive fails to work it's a cable or logicboard issue.
For Lion you hold command r and try booting into Lion Recovery Partition on the internal hard drive, obviously if this works the drive is working, but the OS X Lion Partition is not booting.
You can choose to use Disk Utility to erase the Lion OS X partition (with Zero Data option) and use your AppleID to download another copy of Lion from Apple's Servers, then reboot normally and you'll have a brand new machine all ready for setup.

Mac Book Pro update stuck on loader bar
Last night I choose to update my MacBook Pro to the latest OS. I left it running overnight. 12 hours later and its only at 50% on the progress bar of the installing software update screen and it appears to have made no progress in the last serveral hours.
What should I do? How much longer should I wait?Press and hold down the Power button until the computer turns off. The update is frozen. Check to see if you can restart the computer.

My mac book pro crashed during an update a week ago. Since then I have been forced to fomat my macintosh HD drive and attempt to reinstall lion. Halfway through my download of lion, a grey screen pops up telling me to restart my computer. I do such and then nothing ever happens again, I am just brought back to disk utility every time. Why?!?!?!
You can go to the Apple online store and purcahse a copy of Mountain Lion. This will give you a redemption code, which you can use to download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Unfortuantely, I'm not aware of any other way to legally purchase it. I have never seen Apple release Muontain Lion on DVD.
In terms of Apple Service, they just need the serial number of the machine to check the purcahse date. It is usually correct, to within a few weeks. A quick Google search should give you the correct number to dial.
I hope this helps. -
Mac Book Pro Start up message blocks me
Was on facebook recently and after my Mac Book Pro froze up and I tried to restart and a thin grey veil came down and told me to restart my computer.
A message in 4 languages. I tried to re start and problem persists. Cannot access my computer. Any ideas as to what this is?It's a kernel panic. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics.
Are you able to boot the computer from an installer disc? Are you able to startup in Safe Mode? -
I am using FCP 7.0.3 on my Mac Pro. I bought a new mac book pro and loaded the software on to the lap top but the software is 6.0.3. How do i get the update to the lap top?
.. and by the way, the jump from FCP 6.0.3 to FCP 7.0 (or higher) isn't an "update" It's a full version "upgrade" that has to be done using the install discs (or disc images).

I have a Mac book pro with iPhoto updated to iPhoto 11 we have 2 users on our Mac myself and my husband. I recently loaded all of our pictures from a recent trip into iPhoto under my login screen. Can these photos also be transferred into my husbands iPhoto library under his login screen ? I want to transfer some not all of them and already deleted them from the camera card.
Use iPhoto Sharing.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work. -

I had a one month old Mac book pro and the hard drive fried! I was down loading a friends wedding pictures when it stopped working and started heating up. I plugged it in and turned it off as it was making a clicking noise. When I turned it back on the was a grey box with a question mark and nothing else. When I took my memory card out the pictures were gone. I took it back to best buy where I bought it and they said it was dead, needed a new hard drive and all my info is lost! Is there any way to get back those irreplaceable wedding pictures?
There are some data recovery programs (software). I would look into that for the images on the card. When files are deleted, the files are still there, just the headers are removed. That being said, a format of the card or new files written to the card can overwrite deleted files.
The physical hard drive could be thousands of dollars to forensically save, with no guarantee.
