I recently purchased an iphone 5s. After returning home form the apple store, so very excited to sync my new device, my mac book pro won't turn on.
it was last used 3 hours prier to me returning home. It won't turn on, the charger light is weak, barely visible. When I plug the charger to another device it works fine. Before I take it to be repaired I would like to get a general idea of the problem, as well as an estimated cost.

  • Mac Book Pro will not turn on

I have a 2011 MBP 15 inch. I recently updated to OS X Yosemite. I was using my Mac last night when all of a sudden the display went to the restart screen. I went to log back in and it showed the bar, which i'm assuming meant it was updating the system. It got maybe a 1/3 of the way done when it restarted it's self again. It did this a couple of times all the while my caps lock button is lit up to be on, but when I went to log in I clicked it off, but it showed the icon stating that cap lock was then activated. After the fourth or fifth time logging in the screen went black and it will not turn back on. The caps lock button is still lit, but there is nothing when I push the power button. I would greatly appreciate any advice that someone could give me as I'm a senior in college and that computer has my life on it.
Thank you for your tips and advice.

    Hey kgary1323,
Thanks for the question and detailed information. Since your caps lock is lit, we know that the issue is not related to power - so that’s good news. Next, we’ll want to troubleshoot the video connection:

  • MacBook Pro will not start up, and is making low-pitched beeping noises

I bought my MacBook Pro four days ago and it had worked perfectly fine until yesterday. Now when I try to power it up it won't, and perpetually makes low beeping noises (even when closed) in intervals of 3. Does anyone know what is going on?

It means the RAM does not pass the data integrity check.  See here about beep codes: http://mediawiki.middlebury.edu/wiki/LIS/Apple_Computer_Beep_Codes

  • My mac book pro will not turn on

I was downloading new software it was taking a long time
I realised I had Uni work I need to do so I turn my Mac Pro off
While it was still downloading/ rebooting ...
My mac made a load noise when I turned it off
I knew that wasn't a good idea once I turn it off
Now when I turn my laptop on the screen is black

Try SMC and PRAM resets and see if they will liven up your MBP:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

my mac book pro is not "starting" it makes beeping noise when i turn it on, prior to this for half a day it was turning off after an hourr so.

It may very well be a RAM issue but possibly something else.  Look over this extensive troubleshooting document for a possible solution:

My Mac book pro won't turn on at all and when i put it to charge the light blinks, what should I do?

Yes if your model MBP has a removable battery.  If it does not:
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • My mac book pro will not recognize

My mac book pro will not recognize my hp printer after years of knowing it's connected. USB port works fine with other connections.  I have reinstaled it. What do I do?

    Hi ...
Go to the HP site and download the drivers (software) that is specific to your HP printer model >  http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html
That way you will have the latest software available for your printer.
Then open System Preferences > Print & Scan - Print.
Select the printer on the left then click -  (minus)
Now click + and follow the instructions. You may need to turn the printer off then back on before your Mac recogizes the new drivers.
You may also need to click the lock icon in the Print window in order to make changes. You may be prompted for your admin password.

I have OS 10.8.2 and use wireless at home just fine.
When I visit a friend with only a cable modem internet my Mac Book Pro will not connect.
I see that the Mac Book Pro is picking up the internet when I check the internet preference section but it will not open Safari.
What do I need to do connect via a cable modem?

You need to power off the modem for 15-30 seconds, then power back up and then connect. The modem is remembering the last connection (your friend).
