You mean an image such as a scanned document?
If that is the case, the file doesn't contain any text for Reader Out Loud to read. In order to fix that, you would need an application such as Adobe Acrobat that does Optical Character Recognition to convert the images to actual text.
You can also try to export the file as a Word document or something else using ExportPDF which I believe offers OCR and is cheaper than Acrobat.

OS X Mountain lion code does NOT work - Please help

I bought my 2012 Macbook pro June 21 2012. I qualify for the free OS X Mountain lion upgrade. I got my emails, one with the PDF file, one with the password to it. I open up the red PDF file, enter my password and it does NOT work. I took my password to the Mac App store, clicked Quick Link, Redeem, placed my code in and it STILL DOES NOT work. PLEASE HELP!!! I need the new OS, plus Im supposed to get it for free! Its not fair how they sent me a bad code / improper instructions on how to redeem it.

Maverick update now my login screen does not work please help.

Hello hope you can help. I have a 24 inch Mid 2007 Intel iMac. It has been great until now. I recently did the Maverick update and now my login screen does not work. When I wake the computer up the screen appars with my picture icon. When I click on it nothing happens. If I click on it a second or third time the beach ball appears and nothing happens. I have to shut the unit down with the power button and when the unit powers back up everything works normally. Are there any suggestions out there? I have updated the software without resolution. Is this computer too old? Do I have to buy a new one?

Your iMac can support Mavericks according to the requirements > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
Try a Safe Mode boot. That deletes some system caches that may help.
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.
See if there's an improvement for the login screen.

Getting Asus ATI 4870 to work in my Mac Pro. Not working. please help!

I read here on these boards that an ATI 4870 would work in an early model (in my case, 2006) Intel Mac Pro.
I jumped in hastily and bought the Asus branded card: EAH4870
I connected it, and nothing... did not work.
I do not think it is a Mac version of this card, perhaps intended to be used in a windows machine.
Questions:
- Do I need to "flash: this card to make it work in my Mac Pro OSX 10.6.3?
- Are there Mac drivers for this card? I can't find anything anywhere
- Basically, can I get this card to work, or do I need to PAY the extra $$$$ just to have a "Mac" version of this.
Keep in mind, I am not a techie, I need to do Work, not fiddle with this kind of stuff.. unfortunately, a software package crucial for a job is very finicky and works with only a handful of cards.. The 4870 is one of them.
I do not have dual boot, and no windows machines to "flash" or rework this card.
If you can help me to get this card to work, it would be MOST appreciated!!!

It is not a Mac version. It does not have the required EFI boot ROM needed to work on the Mac. Video drivers are contained in OS X. Either you have to have the card flashed (this is illegal) or buy a Mac version of the card.
If you aren't a "techie" then you don't have the hardware needed to flash the ROM nor know how. Because this site belongs to Apple we cannot help you with something that is illegal.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Replacing places.sqlite with older file is not working, please help I need my bookmarks

My hard drive was recently crashed so I had to reinstall windows 7 operating system. I recovered the deleted places.sqlite file from before the crash. I replaced the old file with new places.sqlite file but is not restoring any of the bookmarks
Please help, I have a lot of important bookmarks stored in old file
Please suggest a way to open the places.sqlite file manually & extract bookmarks from it or any other way to get the bookmarks back

It is possible that this copy of places.sqlite is corrupted if your bookmarks aren't restored and in that case you can't use this file and will have to delete all the places files (-shm and -wal as well)
If you also have a copy of the JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder then try to restore the bookmarks that way.

I woke up this morning and my iphone was dead. I have been using the assisted touch setting because one day for no particular reason my sleep button stopped working, so I can't even try a hard reset now. The phone never had a bad drop and the only way it could be water damaged is from being in a steamy bathroom. It could be that your button has justy gone out. You may try getting compressed air to blow out any dust in there. If that doesn't work, you may have to get your button and ribbon replaced.

My iPhone 3GS got stolen this week and I had "FindmyiPhone" (iOS 5.0.1) configured, but when I try to locate my iPhone it will show up as "offline".
I've once heared you can trace your iPhone by an EMEI or UPC number or something like that.
Do you guys know more about that so I can trace down my iPhone and can show it the police?

I just got my macbook pro stolen last night. the theive opened it and I got the email from findmyiphone. I can see which house it is at, but the thing is cops can't help. Im still watching it on my iphone waiting for them to ope it again so I can see its location. But Im already ****** as $%#% because 911 told me that they cant keep following a missing laptop.
so that was my story, right now my macbook is showing as red also. But keep watching it because they have to turn it on eventually and as long as you check email me when found on icloud.com then you will get an email. Or you can also keep watching on your computer.
So again go on icloud.com and sign in with the itunes account/email that you use on your iphone, you'll see the find my iPhone option there!

Update Firefox to version 17 (the newest version) - Green button link does not work, please help

I currently have Firefox version 16.0.2 installed on my laptop with Windows 7.
Every time I attempt to go to the update site (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) and click on the green update button, I am sent to the 'Thank you' page, and no download begins.
After that page, it attempts to redirect, I am assuming to the download; URL is https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-17.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US
I receive the following error: Unable to connect - Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at download.mozilla.org.
Please let me know how I can update my Firefox to the latest version.

Same problem until I cleared the 67MB cached web content under:
Tools>Options>Network
It immediately took care of it without a browser restart.
