My mac  can't find my lacie

my mac cant read my lacie

Have you tried Finder menu > preferences >  General > and check off the box for hard disks (also the next two boxes down).   Incidentally, your question headline said FIND lacie, your post said READ lacie.   I hope I have understood your requirements.
It will then appear on your desk top.

  • My MAC can't find the airport express...

I'm having problems hooking up Airport Express to airplay. My MAC can't find it...wireless network is working fine, I have Klipsch speakers working fine over Airplay...but Airport express will not connect to my network. Help!

Apple's "extend a wireless network" setting is proprietary feature that is designed to work with other Apple routers on a network.  Unfortunately, it is extremely unlikely that this feature would be compatible with a 3rd party router.
The solution is to connect the AirPort Express to your main router using a permanent wired Ethernet connection and configure the Express to "create a wireless network" using the same wireless network name, same wireless security and same password as the main network.
Another possible solution would be to to ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP) if they offer a compatible device that will "extend" the main router using wireless only.

  • My mac can't find the volume" Data" on Time Capsule. Also Ican't find with the disk utility program the hard disk in the Time Capule; so I can't format the disk again. What can I do?

My Mac can't find the volume " Data" on Time Capsule, Also I can't find with the disk-utility program the hard disk in the Time Capusule.
So I can't format the disk in the Time Capsule
Deconnevt and then connecting the power tp the Time Capsule gives also no solution.
    What can I do?
    Joe

I listed the commands.. that is how you manually mount the disk.. follow exactly the commands I gave you.
In finder use top menu, go, connect to server.
    Type in the following.
AFP://TCname or AFP://TCIpaddress (obviously you replace with the actual name or the actual IP address).
    If that fails..
    try
    SMB://TCname
    Here is the screenshot.
tardis4 being the name of my TC.
It should then ask you for your credentials.
And it should remember them in the keychain and be able to then get TM to connect.

  • My Mac can't find the server when I connect to cable internet.

My Mac can't find the server when I connect to cable internet. Ethernet is fine, the problem is that Safari doesn't open the login/password window. Can anybody help?

The system administrator of my network has had the following solution - to help open the window for the login/password I tick "web proxy" (and enter the information for web proxy server) in "network preferences - advanced - proxies", enter the login/password and then untick it to open webpages. A little complicated, but it works, and that's the only solution so far.

  • Mac can't find my EPSON Workforce 610

I tried to print something today.
In addition to being out of cyan, my computer gave me a "filter failed" error.
I removed the printer to try to re-add it and now my mac can't find the printer. I've disconnected the printer and reconnected to our wifi mulitple times. I've restarted the computer AND the printer multiple times. I've renamed my computer in the "System Preferences" > "Sharing" folder and THEN restarted it...again. Nothing.
I'm running out of patience and time. HELP!
I have Macbook Pro 10.8.5. I'm NOT computer literate, so please spell out the fix for me, if possible.
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you! That information was definitely helpful.
I haven't tried since my post to get our printer to work (ended up sending my doc to Staples, in the interest of time, and haven't had to print anything since).
Anyway, this morning I replaced our ink and tried printing something. It still wasn't working (but this time, all it said was the printer wasn't connected). I reconnected the printer to the network, then turned it off, restarted our computer, and once the computer was back up, I turned the printer back on.
The printer appeared in our network, again, and my printing job was successful. Yay! I LOVE when technology works. =)

  • Mac can't find my partitioned external HDD

    My previous setup was:
1 WD 2TB external HDD with own power supply, formatted as MacOS Extended (Journaled).
But I wanted to split this HDD up into two partitions, Archive and Library. I also wanted to have a Time Machine backup of this disk. So I bought another WD 2TB external HDD with own power supply. On this one, I made two partitions, Archive and Library, both as MacOS Extended (Journaled). Then I copied all the files of my first HDD to their specific location.
    So my new setup was:
My new WD 2TB external HDD with own power supply, with two partitions, both formatted as MacOs Extended (Journaled).
My old WD 2TB external HDD was still holding a copy of the files on the new one, but I wanted to use this one for backup.
Now I just had to format the old WD 2TB, so I could use it as Time Machine backup. I knew this was a critical point. Because if something would go wrong I didn't have any backup. But what are the chances that things would have gone bad just right now???
As you can guess it did go wrong. My new HDD (the one with the partitions) could no longer be recognized by my Mac. My Time Machine backup was still indexing all the files, so didn't get an actual backup of them yet. A disaster!!!
When connected the new HDD I had a prompt window telling me that my computer couldn't find the disk, with the options 'Initialise...', 'Ignore' and 'Remove'. Choosing 'Intialise' I got into Disk Utility, it does detect the 'mother' HDD, but not the 'children' (= the partitions).
Is there a way to get my data back? I have everything on it: my files for work (important files for my business), but also my personal files (pictures, complete iTunes library with music and movies...).
I must say that I had this problem before. Same situation: I partitioned a disk and after a bit, my Mac couldn't find it anymore. Back then I thought it was the HDD, and as the files were not that important, I just forgot about it... until I found it back one day and discovered that I could restore the HDD, but I had to re-format it, meaning that all the files were lost.
This situation is different as lost files would mean a disaster. :-(
I hope there's someone out here that can help me.
    Thanks in advance!
I use a MacBook Pro mid 2007. I currently use Mac OS Mountain Lion (up to date).

  • My Mac can't find airport express in AirPort Utility - I'm stuck!

I've been fiddling around with this thing for three hours and can't get it to work. I only want to use my airport express to wirelessly play music from my laptop to my speakers on my desk. I dot not want it affiliated with the internet in any way.
I plugged my speakers in to the white square apple thing, then plugged it into the wall. The next step is to open Airport Utility to set it up. My airport utility can not find any devices. It says "AirPort Utility was unable to find and Apple wireless devices. Please make sure the Apple wireless device you want to set up is plugged in and in range of your computer, and then click rescan to try again."
I've checked everything. I am currently about four feet away from the white AirPort plug-in thing, so distance is not it. I'm sure my airport can view all available networks, my AirPort is working fine for my internet (the internet is not affiliated with AirPort Express).
I think maybe this is defective? All help I can find starts off saying to open AirPort Utility, select the new device and, ....
I am running on Mac OS X Version 10.4.11, and I am sure my AirPort device is up to date.
    Help?

Yes, I told it to allow wireless networks. It's having a hard time joining my internet network - is that the one I'm supposed to be telling it to join?
I don't want to hook this up to my internet becuase the internet is the other room and I don't watn to mess with the internet settings my Windows roommate already has. I want the speakers to play in the bedroom, which is a good 30 feet away from the living room where the internet base is.
Should i create a new network and ask it to join in on that? but if i do that, will I still get internet?
As it stands right now my airport turns off when i unplug the ethernet, and nothing can be found - even though I told it to enable wireless.
This is so **** confusing. It does seem to work fine when the ethernet thing is in it though... but if I'm going to plug the ethernet chord to it, I'd rather get a long speaker chord and plug my speakers in to my laptop from across the room and save myself the $100 for this airport thign.

  • Switching from Windows to Mac - Can't find image files

I'm helping a friend switch to Mac. Her old PC (Dell) has power issues but the HD is fine. I'm a life long Mac user so don't know where to locate her picture files, the only thing she's worried about saving. I have her hard drive hooked up to my iMac now but can't find the file.
I've looked in the "My Shared Folder" but that just has some random music files. No photos.
    Can anyone help?

If I understand the question correctly, you need to look in the pc directory that has your friend listed as the user (not the shared folder). Once in that user's directory look for the folder My Pictures. Odds are, they're in there. Good luck.

  • Pocket Mac Can't Find My BB Pearl

I have a 2nd gen Macbook Pro. I have installed Pocketmac 4.1.2.5 along with latest patch (installed following 4.1.2.5 install before restart). The pocketmac program will launch, but when it runs sync it comes back and says it can't find the BB device. It also says the USB port doesn't have enough power to charge. I have tried an auto uninstall for pocketmac, a manual uninstall along with removing the  two Blackberry.kext files that were suggested.
Other information that might be important. I have password disabled on my bb. I previously installed BB desktop software on the xP virutual machine on this same computer and I WAS ABLE TO SYNC WITH oUTLOOK, BUT THIS DOES me no good trying to sync with the Mac OS side of the machine. I uninstalled the bb desktop software to make sure it was not causing a problem. I have Blue tooth turned off. Before I found out about pocketmac I tried to sync my BB with the built in apple sync and it set up a connection, but said it wasn't supported, so I deleted it to hopefully make sure it wasn't causing a problem.

I am using 2nd gen macbook. I tried Pocket Mac and Missing Sync, but neither would work because I never could establish a connection between computer and blackberry. I tried all kinds of combinations of installs and uninstalls (prob spent 30 hours  or more with no visible progress.) I was concerned that all of my initial screwing around might have caused a setting get changed in the system that was never being released or deleted and preventing the BB from connecting, so I decided to try it on a new install of Leopard on another hard drive partition. This way I could test this without having to remove my current installation if I couldn't solve the problem. It took about two hours time to get to the point to find out if the BB would communicate with computer. Most of the time you are just waiting on leopard to install on the new partition. If you know how to do this then skip the next paragraph. Otherwise I tried to give detailed instructions. Once you get the phone and computer talking then you have a chance to get sync programs to work. THis also solved the problem with my BB saying it didn't have enough power to charge when connected to computer. at least this method of problem solving rules out any other program installs on the computer. I have tried rebooting on the original hard drive  partition and the same old problems persist. I tried this to make sure something hadn't chaned in the phone that would allow the old installation to work. I plan to erase the old partition if everything still works after I finish installing the rest of my programs. I plan to uses parallels to install xp virtual machine and use blackberry desktop to backup my phone. Others have reported success doing this. I also backed up my machine using time machine before doing anything else to my new install.
Putting Leopard on a new partition
Use disk utility to partition hard drive (name partition and drag the partition to give it maybe 40 gb) and then get apple leopard OS CD and put in CD. turn off computer and hold "C" key down until it comes up with leopard installation. Go through and install on the new hard drive partition. This takes about 2 hours, but you only have to press a couple of keys. Before you restart go to system preferences and change the startup disk to the new partition you created. Restart then immediately click system and select software updates to make sure the latest leopard update (10.5.6) is installed. Allow all these to install and restart.
    Setting up to Sync
Install Pocketmac 4.1.2.5 along with the newest driver update before restarting. Restart. Plug in BB and it should at least be seen by system. I was able to get address book synced right away. I didn't have any luck with notes or calendar, so I uninstalled Pocketmac and then did a spotlight search for pocketmac and deleted the two Pocketmac***.plist files and emptied trash. Installed Missing sync. You may be able to skip pocketmac installation, but I thought that might be best way to get newest driver on BB.
Missing Sync - syncing addresses, notes and calendar
Missing sync worked with addresses first just like Pocketmac
I next worked on syncing each of the individual components separately
I had to go into the settings on the calendar to tell it to sync with selected calendar rather than all (select pocketmac only). My blackberry Pearl doesn't have multiple calendars that I know of, so I think that is why it caused me a problem with this. This may not cause yours any difficulty. Do the same with tasks as described for calendars and if it works like mine it will be working. Next on to syncing notes.
    Missing sync - syncing notes
I next tried to sync with marknotes. It wouldn't sync at first , but looking at log it kept mentioning a problem with null categories. I assumed this meant that there were not categories assigned to the notes, so I synced my bb with my old computer using blackberry desktop software and selected all the notes and put in the business category. I then resynced and it worked fine. You might be able to categorize all of these using just your BB, but I knew I could do it quickly with my BB desktop software.

  • E71, NMT on Mac can't find pictures

When I use NTM on my Mac, the application can't find any of the pictures I've taken with the in-built camera. The pictures that comes along with the E71 are detected, but none of the picture I've taken. Same thing goes with the videos.
What should I do to make sure that the application finds my pictures?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I think mostly the image capture plugin is either corrupted or damaged. Try the steps below and check.
-Open HDD-Library-Application Support-Find and Delete the entire Nokia Multimedia Transfer folder.
-Then navigate to users-Library-Application Support -Nokia Multimedia Transfer (delete) -Applications-Nokia Multimedia Tranfer-Control Click-Show package contents.
    -Delete the entire contents folder.
-Make sure the trash is empty.
-Download and install NMT again from www.nokia.com/mac
    -Now connect the device
-Go to NMT> Tools and Settings > Check for updates now
    - Reboot Mac and then reconnect the device and check.
    Hopefully this works.
    Regards
    Sandy
