My Mac completely messed up:(
Hi I wanted to install Skyrim but my Windows 7 partition was too small so I increased it but when I restarted my computer to start from Windows the only option was 'Macintosh HD' and no 'Windows' or 'Recovery HD' so I used the first one but I just get the Apple symbol with the moving circle and it stays like that for a long time and evenually the apple turns into a Ø kind of symbol
I decided to give up with the idea of Skyrim I think I give Windows a chance again and it messes my Mac up too so can someone please tell me how to basically make my macbook work like it did before I installed Windows
I tried pressing command+r to do the recovery mode and it says it cannot repair the disc:(

Keychains are Completely Messed Up
Hey there all. So, my friends computer's keychains are completely messed up, and it is the System keychain. 3 months ago it was the login keychain. I, at this point, think that we should just redownload Mavericks and run the installation like a upgrade. Would that fix it, or would something else?

The format for MSN is completely messed up on Firefox, but okay on Internet Explorer and okay on my Kindle. How do I fix this?
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

My songs are fine on iTunes but completely messed up on my iPod
hey, ive gotta problem. when i listen to my songs on iTunes, not the store, but my library, they are fine. when i listen on my iPod, they are completely messed up! what i mean is that when played on my ipod, the beat (or rest of music besides the lyrics) is louder than normal, and i can barely hear the lyrics. whats going on and how do i fix it?

Can't access my email - endless messages saying password is wrong, which it is not. Mobileme all over again. I now need to forward all Apple mail to GMail, which is how an email system should work. Same is true with the calendar - a complete mess on the integration with my Google calendar.
This is really, really a pain!!OK this is Cormacin Texas - these idiots have put me through the hoops, effectively locking me out of the support forum. Anyway I've solved the problem - it took 3.5 hours, involved a trip to the Genius bar at the local Apple store, and one and a half hours escalating through the dial-in help support - which was about the only thing the Genius was good for.
What you need to know is:
1. Apple are having problems with their servers, but have not published the fact - we've all wasted a lot of time because these guys want to keep their Customer Sat scores high, I guess. (I'm starting to feel like one of their Chinese factory workers!)
2. This server problem is compounded by the fact that it only affects a few random servers
3. It in turn can lead to problems sending emails which require you to change your Apple Mail password, and in my case surgically remove bad records for various hidden email and library folders. (Good luck with that!)
So, a problem that they hide, a knock-on set of work that the problem indirectly causes, which they also hide, and a support structure that is geared for hardware, not the services that they are now selling.
My suggestion is to change your mail password using the web (icloud.com) access to Mail and see if that works. After that, remove and reset up your Apple email (Preferences) and pray that you don't have to join endless telephone answering lines where some of the folks will cut you off because they can't be arsed.
The two guys that finally helped me were brilliant, knew their stuff and could not have done a better job. The key guy was Danny - if you get him, your golden! -

My Mac completely seizes when using the Gradient Tool in Photoshop CS5
I've recently upgraded to CS5 and in tandem have replaced my 8Gb of RAM with 16Gb on an iMac 27" with a 2.8Ghz Intel Core i7.
The problem that I've encountered with Photoshop seems to be connected with the COMBINED effect of these two upgrades. I just need to determine where the problem lies.
Whilst attempting to apply a gradient (white to transparent) using Photoshop CS5 on a CMYK file my Mac completely seizes. And I mean completely! No 'force quit' option, nothing. Even the little light on my mouse goes out. However, suspecting that it may be a CS5 problem I tried the same procedure using CS4. Hey presto – no problem. Narrowing the area down still further I re-installed the original 8Gb chips and the problem went away. Back to the 16Gb and the problem reoccurs. I've also found that using the 'Auto Merge' facility also causes the same seizure.
So, is it a RAM problem or a CS5 problem or a combination of the two? I've run Memtest the result of which indicated that the new RAM was behaving itself. The new memory is Kingston's finest and has had no adverse effects anywhere else on the system. If anyone can come up with a definitive answer I'd be grateful, especially if it means I can get my memory supplier to exchange my purchase gratis.If the whole machine freezes, then you are most likely looking at a hardware problem.

Yep, that's more evidence that the problem is in your hardware.
Application software cannot cause a lockup like that. Only hardware, low level drivers and the OS can cause a lockup like that.
In your case, it seems to be the hardware (RAM chips or motherboard).
Unfortunately, software RAM tests are useless. But you've got a test that stresses the RAM system more than those tests: it's called Photoshop.
We have seen several reports recently of RAM problems in newer iMacs. There appears to be a problem with the RAM specification, testing, or the motherboards. Unfortunately, we don't yet have enough details to determine the root cause of the issues. But most people have fixed the problem by swapping out the RAM. -
My music is completely messed up: many songs shortened to 3:01, many songs in different versions. Should I delete all and reimport all my purchases? Or is there a more elgant way of cleaning the media center?
I think you should just rebuild your library.
Clear it out, then drag all the song files back in. You'll lose your ratings and playcounts, etc but I don't see what else you can do. -
Macbook pro late 2011, completely messed up, a macbook pro of this year should not be operating like this, everything I click it brings up beachball very slow, blue ray and hd unwatchable as it jerks. genius bar app didnt help at all, very disappointed, can some1 help me?
You have a hardware problem. It is probably the hard drive is either to full, not enough free space, or it is starting to fail.
If you have an external drive connec that to the system and use the Recovery HD, Command + r keys at startup, to install a clean fresh copy of OS X Lion on the external then run the system from that. It will be slower but if you don't get the beachball then that is the sign your internal drive is on its way out or is filled up with files and not enough free space. -

Firefox 3.6.13 freezes Mac COMPLETELY
While browsing various dynamic sites (video, AJAX, javascript etc.) Firefox can freeze my Mac completely - I have to power it off and then on. I even cannot kill it.
Did you place the new bookmarks in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder?

If new bookmarks do not show then a possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

U510 Boot Completely Messed Up
So my u510 was originally installed with Win8, and I wanted to dual boot Ubuntu alongside it, so I shrinked the existing windows volumes slightly in order to make room for the new partition, but in the process of installing I may have royally screwed myself over somehow.
When I boot up the laptop, the Lenovo logo appears for a short while (can't go into BIOS/BootMenu anymore), then the screen just has a blinking "_" at the top left corner and is unresponsive to any sort of input.
In hindsight, I probably should have done this while I wasn't half asleep, as now I don't remember what exactly I was doing anymore. Any idea what I can do to fix this? I'm pretty sure a majority of my data is there, I've just completely messed up one or some of the partitions, as my windows partition was working fine until i restarted and started getting these errors.Hindsight2020,

View of my device is completely messed up
Ever since I upgraded to iTunes 10, the screen under "devices" that shows what's on my iPhone is completely messed up. The main screen shows headings for "iPhone," "Version" and "Options," but each of those sections is blank. Also, there are no tabs for music, movies, apps, etc. It's all gone. Any suggestions on how to get it back?

OK so today I was just skyping with some friends. I decide to group call them, then I realize I can't hang up, so I'm like, maybe it's just bugged, I'll just end process and relogin. However, when I tried to relogin, the dialogue box stated that I already had skype open. Then I ended all skype processes, logged in again, and for some reason, everything was completely messed up. The friends I was skyping earlier don't appear under my contacts (skype wants me to share contact information), when I send messages, they are pending, I can't change my status, and when I call, they can't pick up and I can't hang up. Ended task again, couldn't log in since apparently I had skype open.
Looking online on the forums, I found this:
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%, press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Restart Skype.
Tried it, I logged in, same process. Can't send messages, friends don't appear as contacts, etc.
Reinstalled skype, same problem.
Reverted back to the un-updated skype, same thing occurs.
Both versions of the Windows 8 skype are messed up (the one in store and the desktop version)
Mobile version works fine.

I am confused by the layout of the I tunes Store...Ive had no problems or troubel for YEARS with the I Tunes store, but recently the entire graphics on the i tunes store pages are a complete mess, not downloading, creating odd layover and jumbled data and making it virtually impossible to access or read. I am looking for information or guidance on how to re-boot or fix this - Help?!
