My mac does not recognize my iphone when i plug it in
I am trying to upload my photos from my iphone5 since its full and wont let me take any more pics. However, when I plug in my phone, its not recognized by Finder. I know iTunes recognizes it because it pops up. Whats the story?
you should import the photos using iPhoto.
The device should be in the sidebar of iPhoto. Select it and import your photos using the button at the top right.

I "Erased all content and settings" and now my iTunes does not recognize my iPhone when I plug it in. Plus my iPhone is stuck with the apple symbol on it and wont do anything. what did I do? How do I get my phone to work again?
Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart. Usually takes about 10 seconds time. If still problem. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both Home and Power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Restore the Firmware.

My new computer with Windows 8.1 does not recognize my iPhone when connected via USB.
My new Dell Computer with Windows 8.1 does not recognize my iPhone 5 when connected via USB. I have reinstalled iTunes to no avail.
Hey, I may have to if I can't get this one to work!!
I have tried a different USB to no avail. Both cables work on my old Dell so I don't believe they are the issue.
I uninstalled iTunes as directed by Apple Support and reinstalled. Apparently, Apple Mobile Device Support is not loading with it because it does not show up in programs. -
My MAC does not find my iPhone when trying to sync
I installed 'OS 10.10, yosemite, and when I plug my iPhone into the computer, it sees the phone, but after creating a new playlist on my mac, in iTunes, then try and syvc the two, the computer 'whirrs' for awhile and then comes back with the error message that the computer can't find my iPhone. This is the same computer I have had for a few years and this problem just happened after installing the latest software.
I'm going to try the iPad next and see what happens.
HELP- Reboot the Mac
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Try another USB port
- Try another cable
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic. -
ITunes does not recognize my iPhone when I am connected to the internet!
Okay, I am back with an old problem that I had with iTunes 9.0. iTunes will not see my iPhone if I am connected to the internet. If I turn off the WiFi, I am fine. Is there a fix for this? I found the following (see below) on 1 website and did all of them already. I don't have # 3, so I did not have to try that one thing.
Run through this series of potential fixes, which will solve sync issues for most users:
1. Reinstall iTunes. In some cases this issue can be resolved by completely removing then reinstalling iTunes as described in this Apple Knowledge Base article.
2. Remove third-party backup software. If you’ve installed software for an external hard drive or another device, it may include an automatic backup utility that recognizes the iPad as a storage device, interfering with the normal sync process. Try uninstalling any such software then re-syncing your iPad.
3. Remove iToner. It appears that the presence of Ambrosia Software’ iToner software may cause problems with syncing the iPad. Navigate to ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins and/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins (the Library folders inside your user folder and at the root level of your startup drive) and look for a file called iTonerSupport.bundle. Remove it, then restart, and check to see if iPad syncing occurs more quickly.
4. Delete iTunes .plist. Delete the following file
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist then restarttry deleting these preference files
•C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username Here\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes
•C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username Here\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes

Windows nor iTunes does not detect my iphone when I plug it in
Please help, when I first got my iphone 4, itunes and my computer can detect it. Then one day, it didn't detect it anymore. I have tried everything this website has to offer. I even called Apple tech support, and their final solution to my problem was to upgrade to Windows 7. That is BS. It use to work, but I don't know why it is not working now. I have tried all the 5 R's( reinstall, restore, ...etc), but still nothing.
Here is a list of things I have done already:
1) Reinstalled iTunes and all apple mobile software according to Apple tech support
2) was on the phone with apple tech support for close to 2 hours, when finally, they recommended I upgrade to windows 7
3) tried all USB ports in my computer with no change
4) prayed to God for guidance and strength
Please, anybody, please help me. thank youHi. Just go a bit further by process of elimination which you've already started. Here's a couple more things you can try.
1. Different USB cable?
2. Try plugging into another computer just to see if your iPhone will get recognised then.
If it still deosn't work then I can only assume that the handset itself has developed some kind of fault, in which case, just book a 'Genius' appointment at your local Apple store asap and get it replaced. -
I use different languages in my daily activities, when typing other than English Mac does not recognize them, is there anyway can Mac stop suggesting or automatically correcting me?
Is this a problem with the computer or with the word processor? MS Word for example seems to think its grammar and spelling are better than mine - they are not. You have to go into MS Word preferences and uncheck all the useless "help" it wants to provide.

Itunes on my Mac 10.4.11 does not recognize my iphone
itunes on my Mac 10.4.11 does not recognize my iphone 4S
also, once I plug in my iphone, it is recognized as a camera, but nothing to do with music.
if i have to upgrade software, how do i do that? You get Mac OS X 10.5 on DVD if you have a PowerPC G4 or G5 Mac, or Mac OS X 10.6 on DVD if you have an Intel Mac. If you're using a G3 Mac, you need a newer computer.

I have a desktop mac operating on Mac OSx 10.4.11 and the system does not recognize my iphone and I am unable to upgrade to the newest itunes version. What do I need to do?
Backup first
It is always best to have a full bootable backup before you upgrade. If you fail to do this you will be unable to return to this OS if you decide you don't like the new OS. Also there is a slight chance that an install could lose everything on the Mac. The backup must be to an external hard disk. Preferably use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable backup of the whole disk.
Erase before the install
Once you have a bootable backup on an external disk it is best to erase the internal disk with the new installer DVD before you install.
During the install
Preferably do not import any data or preferences from earlier OSs during the install process as this can reintroduce bugs.
OS numbers and names
OS X 10.4.x - Tiger
OS X 10.5.x - Leopard
OS X 10.6.x - Snow Leopard
OS X 10.7.x - Lion
OS X 10.8.x - Mountain Lion

Upgrade to Leopard
Those wishing to upgrade to Leopard should be aware that install disks can be expensive unless you contact Apple. Details: http://lowendmac.com/deals/best-os-x-leopard-prices.html Standard Leopard installers impose several hardware limitations including speed and RAM size but all these restrictions can be overcome. Google for details. Leopard works well at 500 MHz with 1 GB of RAM and many happy users have less than this.
Upgrade beyond Leopard
OSs beyond OS X 10.5.8 require an Intel processor. If in doubt check this: Click the apple at the top left of your screen and select 'About this Mac'. This will give you your OS number. Then click 'More Info' to see which processor you have. If it says PowerPC you cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard and above. If you have an Intel Mac it is well worth upgrading to Snow Leopard now and then considering other options after that. You can buy Snow Leopard here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A

Check that your Mac complies with any requirements. If you are not in the US you should use the Change Country link at the bottom of Apple pages. -

Did you ever get an answer to this? I just experienced the distortion when I imported a video from my iPhone 4 to iPhoto.
