i have macbook unibody late 2009 ,, when i use trackpad for gestures such as swipe up to get mission control it doesn't move smoothly
Thanks a lot. As soon as I deleted the audio track the photo slideshow ran smoothly. I re-imported the track from a CD and it worked perfectly. I appreciate the assistance.
One question for follow up. I've used other songs purchased off iTunes in movies without problem. Any reason why this one was different?

My mouse pointer doesn't move smoothly in Thunderbird.
Just noticed this recently.
Deactivating plugins fixes it. It looks like the Default 31 in Appearance is causing it. Any fix?
Also, Thunderbird is now crashing from time to time since version 31 was installed.- Checking and unchecking Smooth Scrolling does not change situation.
- With a recent update, moving the slider to the right of the folders became "jerky".
- Selecting "Restart with Add-ons Disabled" from the help menu fixes the "jerkiness".
- The only add-ons I have are two extensions, they are:
Change the reply header and the reply format 0.8.3
Return Receipt Toolbar button 0.16
and one "Appearance" extension, which is
Default 31.0
- Manually disabling the two extensions doesn't fix the problem.
- Since there is no way to manually disable Default 31.0, I assume it is the cause of the jerky slider. I did try another theme and then disabled Default 31.0 but that didn't fix it either do I went back to Default 31.0 and deleted the trial theme.
What about the more frequent crashes? -
I’m going to get the I Mac and since the new I Mac doesn’t have DVD drive on it I was thinking to get the Samsung SE-506AB Slim Portable Blu-ray Writer in order to burn movies from I movie do I need a special software for that since the SE-506ab comes only with windows software.. but I did check and it is compatible with apple. Can you please advise me and or let me know if I’m buying the right stuff or if there is any other blu ray that will work with the I mac as plug and play.

HaimThis freezing reminds me of really old Macs, long ago, in the days of the old-school peripherals like SCSI drives, terminators, scanners and the like. If you had a SCSI conflict, like the wrong device ID's or something, you'd freeze up like that. Back in those days you'd call 800-SOS-APPLE (AAPL?) and they'd run you through disconnecting all your extra hardware - Jaz and Zip drives, CD burners, scanners etc and then eliminate them one by one by adding them incrementally and testing for the freeze/bomb dialog.
But, today we have Firewire and none of those ancient issues (no free lifetime tech support either). My iMac's ports are all full, and I only know which devices are connected when I have to remove something for another device. iSight, scanner, card reader, external hard drive, USB soundsticks, etc. You wouldn't happen to have any SCSI devices hooked up, would you?
Out of curiosity, have you tried a different USB/Firewire port for the hard drive? Or run the hardware test DVD that comes with your computer? This weird freezing seems to suggest a problem with the computer, RAM or network more than a device. Bad devices, in my experience, cause kernel panics, not freezing. -
Duplicate mouse cursor appears (but doesn't move) on second monitor
I have a Mac Pro with the ATI XT1900 video card and 2 Dell 2407WFP LCD monitors attached via DVI.
When I'm using an application, such as a web browser, and the cursor changes state (like the black arrow with spinning wheel in corner) a duplicate of this cursor state appears on my second monitor, on the left-hand side of the screen.
This cursor DOES NOT MOVE, but does animate, and will not disappear unless I move my "live" cursor over to the second monitor, which I imagine causes OS X to "refresh" the position of the cursor. It realizes the duplicate shouldn't be there and it vanishes. The second cursor seems to appear only when the primary live cursor changes state, as in the black arrow becoming a black arrow with spinning wheel in the corner, etc.
This is not a duplicate cursor due to having Displays set up to mirror one another. The second cursor doesn't move.
This has happened in more than one software application, so it appears to be some sort of display driver error at the system level.
Anyone else experience this or have a way to fix it? There have been several Apple Updates to OS X since this problem first started happening (on day 1 with the Mac Pro) and it has not been resolved.

HT4061 ipad doesn't move beyond language selection brand new
help I am a teacher with new Ipad2 and I have charged the thing, but it doesn't move past the language selection. I have a class to learn about it in a couple of hours but I can't get it to respond. I have looked up troubleshooting and done the on off, pressing the on/off, holding the home and on/off for several seconds...... help please!

Switching to application doesn't move me to correct desktop
I have an annoying problem with application switching since I have upgraded to Mac OS Lion from Snow Leopard.
Now switching between applications doesn't work as good as it was in Snow Leopard.
Right now I have Finder and Xcode opened. Xcode is assigned to only one specific Desktop and Finder is assigned to None. And when I am in Xcode for example and use Cmd-Tab to switch to Finder, it deactivates my current window, but doesn't move to the space with Finder or makes Finder active. Then, I press Cmd-Tab again, and it makes Finder active (My top panel controls show Finder now) but I still stay in the space with Xcode. And further switching doesn't do anything. So I then need to manually to click on the Finder icon in the Dock. And the same is vice versa when switching from Finder to Xcode.
If I switch by clicking the Finder Dock icon it then works in two steps: first time it deactivates current window, and after second click it moves to Finder Desktop and makes Finder active.
Another issue is with Safari when I am in Fullscreen mode and have also Activity window opened. If I am in Finder and switch with Cmd-Tab to Safari, it just shows me the Activity window in the same Desktop no matter how many times I Cmd-Tab. To switch to Main Safari window I need to click on the Dock icon.
If I switch only by clicking the Dock icon, then I again need to click it twice.
Option for moving to space with selected application in Preference Pane is switched on and Automatical rearrangement of last used applications as well.
Does anybody know the reason and solution of this behaviour?Thank for reply. I have the last upgrade installed. But the problem still exists. But it is not permanent, I would say. I don't know what does it depend on. Right now I have closed the activity wondow in Safari and then opened it again, and now it appears in the same desktop as Safari main window and switching to Safari works correctly, as it should be. So sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it works awful.

How do I pair a bluetooth headset when my MAC doesn't recognize it? The hedset work properly because they are paired with my iPhone. The headset is not an Apple product. It'd 3rd party.

On my Macbook Pro you have to hold the power button down a moment till a little window pops up and asks what you would like to do. Also you can go to:
( ) Menu > Shut down ...
to shutdown your Mac. Or are you saying that these options do not work?

How do I reorder songs in a playlist in the new itunes??? I can no longer just click and drag. When I click, it doesn't move!!!! Need help ASAP- trying to prepare for an aerobics class and need songs in a specific order!

Use View > View Options, and set 'Sort By" to "Manual Order."
Then you will be able to drag-n-drop songs up and down the list. -
ICal on the Mac doesn't sync to iPad and iPhone
I'm syncing using iCloud. A calendar update on the iPhone will sync in iTunes but the sync only updates the iPad calendar. iCal on the Mac doesn't update to the newer iPhone calendar events. I also tried it by hooking the iPad directly to the Mac via the cable, and the newer events on the iPad calendar (which had the new events transferred via sync from the iPhone) didn't transfer to iCal. On the Mac in iTunes, I have the calendar named "Home" checked, which is the same name as the calendars on the iPhone and iPad.
How do you sync the Mac iCal to the iPhone and iPad calendars?The 'Home' calendar does not sync to iCloud, only the iCloud calendar does that.
In the iCloud control panel have you turned calendar sync on? and are you seeing the iCloud calendar in iCal?, all calendars in the 'On my Mac' group are local, they do not sync.
Also, check in iCal>Preferences>Accounts, to ensure that iCloud is subscribed to in iCal: -
Itunes 10.1.2.17 upgrade killed my sound, music scroll bar doesn't move
After upgrading to 10.1.2.17 on 1/30/2011 all sound ceased on my system. Updated the sound card driver to no avail. No conflict in compatability mode. When song selected in iTunes, the play bar doesn't move nor do movies have audio in quicktime. There is no sound in any program.
Thoughts?Katrina, Thank you for your reply. I followed the directions from your link about using msconfig, and did what it said. Upon started I loaded iTunes without Bonjour running and playing songs worked fine. No delay and going from track to track was quick. So then I quit iTunes and started Bonjour like it said and it still ran fine. So it must be something I deselected in msconfig. I'll have to go back and look.
There were 3 temp files before, but I did another fresh install of iTunes and now it has only one temp file. Called Temp File.tmp. Oh I just looked now and it has another one, oops it just disappeared again. The time stamp on it for it's Modified date is Sunday February 13, 2011 5:28pm and it's Accessed time is Yesterday, February 28, 2001 11:25am, and it's Created time is Yesterday February 28, 2011 11:25am.
I use Microsoft Security Essentials for my antivirus and under it's ignore files I told it to ignore the temp file as well as the itunes library files. But was still having trouble after doing that. Using my Apple TV 2, music still played fast also without any delay. I have a fairly large library though. 140GB or so of Music, 80Gb of Movies and 10GB of Podcasts. So I thought maybe since I've been adding more Movies it caused iTunes to slow down.
I'll try rebooting now by adding Apple Mobile Device to startup and see if anything changes since it's still stopped. iPod Service is running as well as bonjour and all is ok.
Since when I did a fresh intall of windows all I did was install iTunes, so the only other startup things I have are 3 from Intel called common user interface, my microsoft security client and Keepass my password program. Only quick time and itunes are enabled in startup right now. So I will go back and add each of those things and see which one is causing the problem. Thanks again. -
Scanner HP G2410 doesn't work and ligth doesn't move
I'm using the scanner G2410 in windows XP 32-bits, but suddenly it doesn't work. When I trying to scan, a short time later it shows me a message that says the scanner is not find it, that restart my pc, wait 60 seconds and connect it again. Also the ligth doesn't move. In the end of the message shows me the error number:

Even I try it in a pc with windows 7 64-bits but the same result.
Is my scan totally damaged? I will appreciate you help me.Hello caifan125,
