My Mac HD partition will not appear in Windows 8.1, how do I get read access in windows?
The Mac HD drive doesn't appear in Windows, even though it did some time ago (maybe a year ago?). Running 10.10.1
(was upgraded from Mavericks). Really wish it were there so I could read files off it! Thanks for the help.

Rebuild MBR to match GPT information thus resetting the Hybrid MBR. Use defaults for other questions (like partition codes). The boot flags only impact Windows. The Bootability of OSX is EFI-based.
Sudo gdisk /dev/disk0

H (chooses Hybrid)
Partitions numbers to be hybridized: 2 3 4
Y (Good for GRUB question)
N (part 2 boot flag)

Reboot

Try ejecting your iphone from iTunes and then close iTunes. Now retry. Hope this helps.

Disk Problems, OSX partition will not repair is Windows CHKDSK the culprit?
Hi,
I have both Snow Leopard (fully updated) and Windows 7 on Bootcamp partition on my MacBook Pro.
Repairing Permissions on my Mac OS 10.6.4 partition had become a very regular with 'Java' permission problems always seeming to be a very regular and common one.
Anyhow, I thought it appropriate and logical to run the WIndows 7 equivalent of disk-verify/disk-repair/permission-repair and therefore run CHKDSK at 'CMD' level and this appeared to run accordingly without problems.
At some point/days later, my Mac OS appeared to be slow and having a lot of spinny-ball, therefore verified Macintosh HD volume-disk with Disk Utility and showed to have lots of problem. Disk Utility Repair has failed having tried it many times and not even Drive Genius 3 is able to repair or rebuild it on this occasion however I was able to run a 'Scan' on it from Drive Genius 3 and it reported thankfully that there was NO bad blocks.
The error thats returned repeatedly when doing a repair is "Incorrect number of thread records" which is reported immediately after "Checking Catalog File"
Not keen on the thought of having to format, re-install and then re-setup the system even from a Super-Duper backup copy that I had made previously (minus some data since).
However, my questions are:
1. Is it possible that the Windows 7 'CHKDSK' command may have possibly caused this despite the fact that it would have or should have only performed it's operations on the BOOTCAMP disk partition?
2. Is it possible to reformat and restore any previously backed-up images to a single disk partition _without upsetting the other Partition and OS_ residing on it (albeit on the same overall physical disk), i.e. Restoring my Mac OS X SuperDuper backup image back onto the current Mac partition... and would the same apply if ever having to restore a Windows 7 Acronis backup image back onto the current BOOTCAMP partition.
3. Would there be another alternative before a drastic reformat and recovery of the Mac OSX partition (if that's even possible without affecting BOOTCAMP - from question 2 above)
Advice would be much appreciated, many thanx.At the time I had run the 'CHKDSK' command from within Windows, from the 'Run' command prompt located within the Start Menu.
Fortunately I still have the previous HDD that originally came with the MacBook Pro before I upgraded the internal drive some time ago and therefore I have been able to boot externally from this and continue to do so until I've decided what to do, which looks like a recovery from the previous super-duper backup will be inevitable.
I guess I'm unlikely to come across any software or fix that will be capable of correcting the 'faulty number of thread records' being reported after the 'Checking Catalog File' disk repair check routine, however if I find a solution then I'll post it here, otherwise an eventual recovery/install it is.
Under Fortuny's revelation, I will procede with MacDrive with caution and probably disable it if ever running a Windows CHKDSK again (if indeed this is the underlying cause of the problem). And under your advise 'The hatter' I shall certainly look into the Windows system file checker alternative, thanks. -
I have an alias file that will not delete or drag and it will not open to original file. I have tried everything I know and they still wont delete. Can someone please help me?

Lately when I plug my phone into my computer with my usb cord it will not show up on my iTunes. I want to sync my phone again but can't when it is not connected. How can I get my iTunes to recognize my phone?

When I plug my iphone 5s into my desktop computer, the iphone icon which you click on to to wnable you to synch your device with itunes does not appear. Its like being signed into itunes without a device connected.
If you look in the top left hand corner, this is where the icon should appear apparently, but as you can see, on my account it just isnt appearing! my usb cable is new from an Apple store and isnt faulty. The desktop computer is also new.What happens if you go to iTunes > File > Devices, do you get the option to Sync iPhone?

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
Restart the PC first.

My FCP 5 will not capture video any more. How do I get it back
I have a 2005 G5 operating on version 10.5.7. I have *FCP 5*. I do a lot of video editing and have been using this system since 2005. I have *4 gig Ram*. Suddenly it won't capture and when I try to go into that mode I get a message: *UNABLE TO INITIALIZE VIDEO DECK*. My cameras are a new *Canon XH-A1S and a older Canon XH-A1*, they both won't initialize. So I uninstalled all FCP software and reloaded only to get the same message. I now have 20 hours of tape waiting to be edited.
*+_PLEASE HELP_+*Did it. No luck, However while repairing my permissions four of them came up: Warning: SUID file "System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpLoad" has been modified and will not be repaired.
There's one for "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiscManagement etc and "sbin/umount" and "usr/bin/quota" On all of the other permissions it says they "differ". Anyway it didn't help and I did it to my two internal hard drives.
iMovie will upload and control my camera but I'm capturing much of it in electric green and pink. Boy am I confused. It's not like I'm a novice, I've been doing this for years. This is driving me nuts. I'm worried if I were to purchase a new FCP it still wouldn't capture (not that I could afford it) -

Not sure on this one and apple isn't much help on this.First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...

Ipod will not appear in windows or itunes, but is definately there
Hi,
My ipod touch 64gb 3rd gen stopped appearing in itunes but still in windows. I spoke to an apple support person on the phone and we followed lots of different steps. I was told to send it off for repair/to be looked at. Apple said it was fine and sent it back to me. By this point, I had restored the ipod to factory settings via another pc and lost all my data on it.
After they sent it back, however, windows vista now also refuses to acknowledge that there is an ipod connected. I have followed all the support website steps to no avail.
Certain things make me think the pc is recognising the ipod. For instance, when I connect the ipod touch, itunes will sometimes automatically load itself up. Also, when I connect the ipod I notice in the device manager of my pc it will load the apple mobile device usb driver.
I'm fairly certain it is an issue with my computer as the ipod is recognised on other computers.
Can anyone help?My phone did the same thing too yesterday after I took a picture. So this morning I called the tech support at my cell provider.
The tech asked me to press the sleep/ wake button (button on top of phone) and the home button at the same time for about 5-10 seconds to see if there was a reaction from the phone. Low battery showed up even though I had 60+ % when the phone acted up.
He told me the 3GS freezes sometimes and the screen will go blank, but the phone will drain the battery as if it's on the entire time. By pressing the 2 buttons, it resets the phone and should be okay.
My phone seems to be okay now. See if that works for you. Hope it helps. -
IPod will not appear in ITunes, why? how?
I'm using the latest version of ITunes thats available from Apple's website (v7.5.0.20) I am unable to get my 30gig Ipod to appear as a device within ITunes. I have been able to do this before I upgraded Windows from XP to Vista.
Any ideas how to get the device listed?
