My Mac is appearing multiple times in Finder
Since I've upgraded to Yosemite, my Mac is now listed multiple times (8) under Shared in Finder. The main device is listed as XXXX (8). When I used Bonjour Browser, it looks like they are being shared under Apple Remote Desktop XXXX (2), XXXX (3)....XXXX (8). How do I remove all of the multiple appearances and get back to one under Device? When I click on each one, nothing appears. I don't have any remote desktop software that I'm aware of.
I'm also having this issue on my MacBook Air. Started with Yosemite public beta 4. My machine is only listed once in the finder sidebar but with a number in parenthesis next to it. The number seems to slowly increase as the day goes on. I've only gotten the "there is already a machine with that name" dialog once when manually deleting the additional characters. It's not causing any issues but it sure is annoying, I have a bit of OCD where these things are concerned. I've done a few searches on the matter and it appears this also happens on older versions of OS X but I have yet to find a definite solution, or cause.

One user appearing multiple time in Users on System report
Hi,
While checking the logging report I found one user is appearing multiple times. Is this the normal behaviour of Hyperion of Is there any setting in Hyperion to display one user only once.
Also can we control the users the from loging into systme multiple time at a time.
Thanks,
Ajaya KumarIf multiple people know the username and password they can definitely be shared. This is a violation of your licensiing and is a major reason why most SOX departments require Active Directory linking. For testing purposes I have created native IDs to be shared among people so that I know they are identical.

Billing request appearing multiple times in document flow
Hi,
After upgrading from 4.6c to ECC6, for contracts the billing request(same document number, same items) is appearing multiple times in the document flow. Please help me in resolving this issue.
Thanks,

My iPhoto often have difficulty in opening without the "repair". Maybe it's because I have almost 2000 pictures! When I initiate repair using Mac for a long time to find and sort faces .... Is it possible to turn off or avoid this feature?
This user has found a "hack" to turn off faces. Several users have reported success with the method. I can't comfirm the method as I've not used it. Use at your own risk.

Re: Iphoto 11 -How to turn off faces?
Dec 30, 2013 9:06 AM (in response to mkmichaelmk)
Start of solution:
I did some digging in the prefs of iPhoto and found out the following. This is how you can disable (turn off) Face detection, without deleting faces found so far (just in case you want to restart processing at another time):
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Open Terminal Application (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
3. Type the following (exactly as is):
defaults write com.apple.iPhoto PKFaceDetectionEnabled 0
(then return)
4. - Start iPhoto - Faces stops getting on your nerves...
If you ever need to re-enable faces, just do the same again and replace the 0 with 1.

Bought over the lat year a number of book titles but lately the book titles appear multiple time in the collection. It makes the collection UN accessible if you have to scroll down pages of the same title. I have tried to remove them from the collection but that doesn't work, they keep on re-appearing after the title is deleted. Is there a solution to this?
Oh, well that was a whole other kettle of fish:
Oh the G4 I attempted to install iLife '08 before Lepoard was available. About the only thing that installed cleanly was iPhoto. I ended up reinstalling everything back to iLife '06, and then upgrading back to the current stable version of the iLife '06 version. I didn't attempt a reinstall until after I upgraded to Leopard.
When I did reinstall, I made a iLife '06 folder, copied all iLife apps into it, and upgraded. Seemed to work, except for the part where iMovie gets left behind and iDVD is only mostly functional.
When I installed on the other 2 machines, it was after installing Leopard and all upgrades. On those 2 machines, I didn't bother with the copy, I just moved everything to the iLife '06 folder I created, and did a fresh install.
I didn't have to do anything with the iPhoto Libraries, that I can recall.
I always do an upgrade, never an archive and install. I've never had a problem with this back to 10.1 or 10.2. -

Artists appearing multiple times
In the artists list on my 5th Gen 80gb iPod, several artists appear multiple times. The thing is, they aren't just different songs which has slight variations in the spelling of the artist, whichever copy of the artist you choose, they all lead to the same songs. And no, there aren't multiple copies of the songs on my iPod and the same thing does not happen in iTunes.
I made a video to demonstrate the problem which you can view here:

All my TV shows in iCloud on my iTunes appear multiple times and with wrong art, why?
I keep all my past TV show seasons on iCloud, but I don't know why now they appear multiple times (even 10 times) and with all the "art" in Shows tab completely wrong in iTunes.
For instance, Glee in the screen attached appears 10 times: 4 of them with Futurama artwork, 5 with Glee artwork, and once with The Good Wife artwork.
If you see all the TV shows with multiple seasons (Glee, Futurama, The Good Wife) in the screenshot look all messed up and multiple times... this happens with every TV show that I have purchased more than one season... all of it is in iCloud, I keep nothing in my local HDD's.
Since I updated to iTunes 11, this happens.... anyone having troubles with this view????add your release date manually if it isn't there.
unfortunatly iTunes won't let you do it. i use a program called "TvTagger". just search google, third result from top, that's the one. you have to enter a release date like this: YYYY-mm-dd . I did it and I think it's worth the hassle. not only are your shows sorted correct, but the ugly "Unknown Release Date" line is replaced by the actual release date -
How do I stop an album appearing multiple times in album view?
Whenever I try to look at albums in album view some of them are appearing multiple of times. I have gone through everything I can think of made sure that all the sort fields are the same etc, yet they still appear more than once. Now with the update to iTunes 11, whenever I try and search an album it it is giving the me the multiple versions instead of just the one. This is really infuriating and I have no idea how to change it

Mac Mini Restarting Multiple times per day
I have a Mac Mini from Sept 2010. Recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and now the restarts due to an issue several times per day. The computer is fine when i am using it, but the issue comes up when i return to wake the monitor by hitting a key or moving the mouse. Sleep is disabled, but the monitor is set to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity. Sometimes it will be fine left for hours on its own and other times when i come back to the computer, I am met with a gray screen stating the computer had to restart.

Any help would be appreciated, as this happens multiple times a day. Thanks for the reply, den.thed.
I tried the first suggestion, resetting the SMC, but after this the problem continues.
I think the issue is related to the second, kernel panicking.
As for suggestions 3 and 4, i have my energy settings as you show in your post, with monitor sleep after 15 minutes, computer sleep never and none of the options checked. While the computer does not sleep, this is only an issue when i step away from the computer for a while and come back, not when i am actively using it.
The latest error message is as follows, and seems to indicate a kernel panic (or several).

IMac shows multiple times in Finder
I have an issue in the Finder.
I'm working on my iMac. It keeps showing my iMac multiple times, but I can't connect to any of them, and worst of all, I can't remove them.
Anyone had something like that, or knows how to resolve this?Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plists to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update. -
Artist is appearing multiple times.
I am having an interesting problem with iTunes 10.6.1.7
I have one artist that is appearing three times in my artist list.
I have checked all the fields, and deleted and re-entered all the information manually, but still the artist is continuing to be listed three times.
Any suggestions?I'm also having this issue on my MacBook Air.

Bonjour computer appears several times in finder sidebar. Why?
A computer on my network appears many times in the list of Bonjour computers. It looks like:
Computer (14)
Computer
Computer (10)
Computer (12)
Only one is actually active, but which one? clicking the others will just bring a delay and a spinning pizza while it fails to connect.
I am not sure if this is a Yosemite problem or not, but I've only noticed it since "up"grading both computers.
I also can't find any discussion categories that seem to apply.I don't understand what SMB means.
I don't appear to have any file sharing turned on in either of my iMacs however printer sharing is turned on in the older 24"iMac and the new machine is printing via that. Could this be the explanation for "imac-95a8c4." appearing.
By the way it is never there if the 24" iMac is powered off but sometimes it is there if the 24"iMac is sleeping. -
Here is the error message:
[JavaScript Application]
evalInSandbox:Error: Premission denied for
<https://www.facebook.com> to create wrapper for
object of class UnnamedClass
The message pops up multiple times whenever I reload certain pages.
The problem does not happen in Safari or Chrome.
I've restarted Firefox but it does not help.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to make the error stop.
Thanks!hello flabs, this is likely caused by an outdated extension. in case you have the social fixer addon installed, please update it to the latest version that is available at http://socialfixer.com/blog/category/releasenotes/.
