My Mac is appearing several times as a shared device

Since changing over to Yosemite, I find my Mac Pro is listed several times in the shared devices  section in Finder. These are named my mac (3,4,5,7,8) Under Devices my mac appears as Mac (9). They disappear when I turn wifi off and reappear when it is turned on. Rebooting makes no difference.
I have clicked on these and it tries to connect but fails.
My Config is a mac pro, Have an iPhone 4 running ios7.3 and an iPad running is IOS8
Any thoughts on this.

My media mac is showing several times in my other mac and iphone (remote) withe different numbers. Why?

Yep. This has been happening for a while.
Curious if anyone else is also experiencing this multiple times in console:

Wondering if it might be related.. Someone on another forum changed the DNS to Google's and the the message disappeared. Which makes me think it might be an Airport/Time Capsule issue?

I've tried and tried several times to Connect my device to my PC and follow the onscreen instructions in iTunes to download the update from Apple. Problem is iTunes doesn't connect to my iPad so that I can update to iOS 5. I don't see the iPad icon when iTunes loads. I have looked in my computer and see the iPad is recognized. Any one else having this problem? This is also happening with my iPod
    Thank you, Ripley

I haven't updated yet. Apple's download servers have been too busy. Did you know you can update via wifi instead of connection to your computer?
Here's a description of the update. Not a lot of changes for iPad 1/2.

  • My Mac is appearing multiple times in Finder

Since I've upgraded to Yosemite, my Mac is now listed multiple times (8) under Shared in Finder.  The main device is listed as XXXX (8).  When I used Bonjour Browser, it looks like they are being shared under Apple Remote Desktop XXXX (2), XXXX (3)....XXXX (8).  How do I remove all of the multiple appearances and get back to one under Device?  When I click on each one, nothing appears.  I don't have any remote desktop software that I'm aware of.

I'm also having this issue on my MacBook Air. Started with Yosemite public beta 4. My machine is only listed once in the finder sidebar but with a number in parenthesis next to it. The number seems to slowly increase as the day goes on. I've only gotten the "there is already a machine with that name" dialog once when manually deleting the additional characters. It's not causing any issues but it sure is annoying, I have a bit of OCD where these things are concerned. I've done a few searches on the matter and it appears this also happens on older versions of OS X but I have yet to find a definite solution, or cause.

  • Bonjour computer appears several times in finder sidebar. Why?

A computer on my network appears many times in the list of Bonjour computers. It looks like:
         Computer (14)
         Computer
         Computer (10)
         Computer (12)
Only one is actually active, but which one? clicking the others will just bring a delay and a spinning pizza while it fails to connect.
I am not sure if this is a Yosemite problem or not, but I've only noticed it since "up"grading both computers.
I also can't find any discussion categories that seem to apply.

I don't understand what SMB means.
I don't appear to have any file sharing turned on in either of my iMacs however printer sharing is turned on in the older 24"iMac and the new machine is printing via that. Could this be the explanation for "imac-95a8c4." appearing.
By the way it is never there if the 24" iMac is powered off but sometimes it is there if the 24"iMac is sleeping.

Not certain, but any one of these could be the cause. A good starting point for troubleshooting is to remove the non-Apple stuff. This is best done by using an uninstaller that is hopefully available from the various developers.
FWIW, Cycling74 and razer often seem to crop up in kernel panic reports.
You may need to do some Googling/visit the developers sites to locate uninstallers.
If, after removal, the panics stop but you need the functionality of whatever these items relate to, re-install one-at-a-time (with the latest version of the software) and test. It'll then be easier to isolate the offender (if the crashes are in fact caused by one of them).

  • Mac pro freezes several times a day

My Mac pro is running slowly and get the pinwheel often.  It also freezes at least once a day.

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
    Select the CPU tab.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
    Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting.

  • Invoices or Incoming payment appear several times

    Hello
We see on some customers statement invoices with the same amount and same document number twice and incoming payments same amount, same doc num three times
    We sue SAP 2007 SP00 PL 39
What could be the issue because customer statement is obviously wrong...
    Thank you
    Guillaume

    Hello
I modify my statement because what I said about incoming payment is wrong, the issue is only with invoices
    I give you an example
    Invoice amount is 249 euros
Customer statement you see 2 lines with 249 u20AC and other invoices have a single line only... so I do not think it could be linked to payment terms
Regarding PL01 we have an addon which has not been tested with PL01 so we do not want to upgrade before it is tested...
    Thank you

  • Mac Mini Server and Time Capsule, File Sharing Issue

    Setup:
MacMini Server, Time Capsule, 2 Macs connected.
All Macs use the time capsule to backup.
    Problem:
I can't use filesharing from over the internet anymore to connect to my server.
Ports 139 and 548 seem to be reserved for the internal backupdisk of the time capsule.
The port mapping rule gets turned off.
How can i still access my files from the outside ?
If i change the filesharing ports to something else, how can i access it ?
    Anybody an idea ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
+"I can connect to my server using vpn but my workgroup shortcut in the sidebar of finder doesn't work"+
That's about right. Bonjour won't work over VPN unless you work at it. AFP548 has an article on how to achieve it if you want to go to the trouble.
+"Isn't there a way without manually connect using go?"+
You could drop desired share points into the dock. Next time you initiate a VPN connection simply click on the icon in the dock. Works for me every time.
+"Perhaps some tweaking on the vpn server side?"+
None that I'm aware of. Perhaps someone else knows a way?

    Hello Peter,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
Error 21 is part of a range of error codes generally indicating that other software is interfering with the restore process.
Check out the troubleshooting from this article named:

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

My mac os frequently freezes for one to two minutes at a time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled flashplayer 11.3 several times because I sometimes get a crash report on flashplayer. I would like other suggestions as to what more I can do.

The next time you have the problem, note the exact times when it starts and ends: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Post any messages timestamped during that interval – the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

You've connected the iPad via cable to your computer, and your computer's iTunes is up-to-date ? If it's icon isn't showing then try one of these troubleshooting pages :
PC : iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
Mac : If you don't see your connected device in iTunes for Mac - Apple Support
If the iPad is disabled then you'll need to reset the iPad back to factory defaults, after which you can restore to your backup
