My Mac keeps loosing Internet connection even on ethernet
Hi,
I connect to internet through my LAN. Earlier it use to work fine but for sometime now I have been loosing connection every 10 mins or so. I have tried every possible thing I know, including resetting the SMC, deleting the Cookies folder in Library and manually enetering the network preference details. I have encountered many people having this problem for wi-fi but my problem unique as I face it even with ethernet. It is very frustrating as I have to put my Mac to sleep every 10 mins for getting internet. It is a mid 2011 MBP with mountain Lion OS. Please Help
Have you tried resetting your router and your DSL/cable modem? Usually, you just unplug both from mains for about 5 minutes, although some modems, in particular those that have battery backup, may have a reset button.

RE1000 keeps loosing internet connection
I recently bought the RE1000 extender to improve our network at home.
I'm using the Linksys WRT610N router and Linksys WUSB600N adapters to connect, no encryption or mac filter.
My problem is that the RE1000 extender keeps loosing internet connection, the computers are still connected to the extender with full signal strength but no internet (Network magic icon with red X).
If I disconnect/connect to the wireless network when this happens the computer will connect to the router with only one bar strength.
To fix the problem I must restart the extender, then it works for a couple of days again before internet is lost again. As you mentioned in your post that if you connect the computer with the router's network it connects with one bar but does it go online? If yes then connect the RE1000 from the Router and check the DHCP client table it will show the RE1000 IP address and then configure the RE1000 again… Here is the link for the configuration of the RE1000…
http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=93&login=1&vw=1&app=search&articleid=3760&userrole=Linksy...
Wireless settings in RE1000 will be same as router… In order to get the best performance from an RE1000 you need to place the extender in an area where you still have at least 50% signal strength to your router when you place it in the final location where the RE1000 will be used. Once after the configuration of the RE1000 try to connect the wireless laptop and check the connectivity…
Secondly in the DHCP client table the client name shows up with the Device name and not the Wireless Network Name… -

2014 mac mini loosing internet connection
Hi, my relatively new mac mini with most current system suddenly started to loose it's internet connection. WiFi or wired makes no difference. It works for a bit then I get time outs, spinning balls and nothing works anymore. All other devices on the same wifi (iphone, ipad, macbook pro, chrom book, windows laptop, apple TV) work just fine, so it's not comcast or a modem issue.
I'm mostly connected with wifi, I moved wifi up in the priority list. I also deleted that particular wifi account and entered everything again, it's a comcast router with wifi built in. Nothing helps. If I run the network diagnostics all things come back with a green light, but even if I try to ping some site via terminal nothing happens. All other devices run great, but I need this compuer on the net. I might take it to the genius bar, but I can't bring my wifi with me, not sure how much that would help.
Any other ideas?
It started sporadically, just a hickup in a video file or a minute to refresh a page, I had comcast test everything too. Now - regardless of what browser I use) I mostly get nothing, if I'm lucky I get a connection for a couple minutes before it's over again. Wifi is connected, I did not change anything or install anything (though some things might have done so automatically) and I know nothing about networking, so I never touched any of those settings, since everything worked anyway.
Any help is greatly appreciated, I can't work without internet on that machine :-(
Thanks!Hi, this has worked for a few...
Though all of these steps may or may not be needed, I'm including them all.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
Click OK. -
Hi Guys,
Anyone with the above issue - suddenly now my internet keeps loosing connectivity.
Is it the ISP fibre issue or the cisco linksys e1200.
Any feedback appreciated.
many thanks in advance
francisTo properly isolate on which device is not working properly is to disconnect the router from the setup and connect your main computer directly to the modem (via Ethernet cable). You can observe the internet connection through the modem for at least 24 hours. If you find that the modem is working fine (stable) then the problem is with the router. So what you can do is reset the router (pressing and holding the button down) for 15 seconds and power it down for also 15 seconds. You re-configure the internet connection on the router after that. Set the wireless settings, too, like change the SSID, set the channel to something else and make sure that wireless security is enabled. You use WPA2 for wireless security on the router.
You can check the links below as well:

Keep loosing internet connection
I apologise if this isn't the right place ask this, but it I don't know where else to ask. We have a pretty regular problem with our internet. Most days (and sometimes a few time a day) we loose our internet connection completely and the only way to get it back is to unplug our router (a D-Link G604T wireless router) and then after at least 30 seconds plug it back in again. I've spoken to D-Link and they have said that the problem is with our internet provider (TalkTalk). I've also spoken to TalkTalk and they say they haven't got any problems and that it could be the router which they don't support, but it could also be the weather or that other people in the area are using the at the same time.
I just wondered what other people thought and it anybody else had experienced similar problems.
Thanksdo you have time machine set up?
if yes, observe to see if the internet drop out occurs EXACTLY when the time machine is backing up... if so, you've got the same problem as me.
solve issue, by turning off time machine or moving to ethernet.

My week old ipad2 keeps dropping it's internet connection, even after rebooting the ipad and renewing the wi-fi connection. Gets very frustrating not to have internet in the middle of a task or email.
Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Apple tv keeps loosing the connection with the mac
Purchased a new desktop mac, time machine and an apple tv. everything is working splendid however the the apple tv seems to keep loosing the connection with the computer. As I sit here i see its no longer listed on the i tunes as a device, I seem to have to reset to the factory defaults again and re install it. I hope I am wrong and I am missing a step and its there and maybe I just don't know how to access it, So here I am posting this to all, Help.... I will be the first to admit I really am a little lost with this apple tv
thanks you everyoneI have the same problem as you do. i have had my apple tv for about 2 years now. I connect my apple tv to my iMac, via wifi by airport extreme. i used to before connect via ethernet cable to my airport extreme, i still had the same problem as you do. that itunes losses the apple tv. yet, from apple tv i can still access the internet. i have gone through all my settings on my airport, they are all correct. the connection only seems to last a few days then, it just losses connection. i have asked this question before, but now one was able to help. Apple is not interested because apple tv is just a pet project to them. you do not have to rest the apple tv every time, you just need to go to the options menu and select the connected computers and tell it to delete connection to your computer. once it has done that, make a new connection to your computer on itunes put in the new passcode and set up which films etc you want to be sync. We should not have to do this every few days. Apple needs to sort this out or at least lets us know how to stop this.

Ever since i installed Yosemite on my Mac Book pro i keep losing internet connection. Should I go back to mavericks because I just hate this Yosemite or do they plan to fix the bugs soon? I did a complete clean install and I am still having problems. I see a lot of complicated solutions and I am not that tech savvy to go into my settings. Thanks
All software has bugs. The first release (which you have) will be the worst.
Many advocate not upgrading to a new operating system until it's been out for 3 months or longer. In the Windows world many recommend not upgrading until a full year has passed.
So yes, most / some bugs and glitches will get fixed over time. If you wish to reduce your difficulties in the future wait a while before installing ANY new OS.
I suggest you post specific details on your Internet problems. How are you connected etc. -
IMac keeps on loosing internet connection after a few minutes...
Intel dual core iMac with 10.6.8 OS keeps losing internet connection after a few minutes. Need to put it to sleep and bring it up again. Than it works again...for a few minutes. Other equipment like laptops and iPad using same wifi internet connection and have no connectivity problem at all... What to do?
Then what I suggest that you do is go to the Finder and select Mac Help in the Help menu. In Mac Help go to Index>C>Connect to the Internet. There you can read all about configuring your Mac, using a modem, etc. After you better understand how all that works then come back with your questions.

Cisco ASA 5505 - Keeps dropping internet connection
Hi,
We are having some issues with our Cisco ASA 5505 unit, it intermittently drops the outside interface connection. Internally the network appears to be working correctly with no issues. Even though the outside interface indicates it is 'up' access to the internet is lost from our LAN. This seems to be ocourring more and more often! This is happening for all users on the network too. Reloading the ASA seems to correct the problem temporally but this isn't really an option during peak periods in the day as this would obviously hinder work being carried out by employees.
Any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
John

What happens when you assign eth0 as internal interface and eth1 as outside if?
Also configure logging (/debugging) to see if there are hardware issues or something else.
And it seems you have a range of public addresses. What happens when you connect a device, e.g. a laptop directly on the internet access device and send continue ping to an internet host.
When you loose internet connectivity, is the laptop still pinging to that host?
Hopefully this helps you,
Kind regards,
Ralph Willemsen

HT201519 Loosing Internet connection
CCan anyone help me please. I have a Mac book that keeps losing Internet connection. Sometimes it lasts for an hour ans sometimes just ten mins. If I re start Mac it usually connects automatically again for a few mins then drops off. When I go to assistant it says my password is wrong but I know it is not wrong. It just seems to connect and drop when it feels like it. There is no problem with any other device that connects to the same bt wifi.
Good day Mander13,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your MacBook Pro does not stay connected to your Wi-Fi network.
For troubleshooting this situation, I recommend the following steps from the support article Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity:
First, try Wireless Diagnostic on your Mac to see if it can identify any additional issues with your network:
Use the Wireless Diagnostics application included with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.4 and later to identify and resolve Wi-Fi issues. For further information, please see About Wireless Diagnostics.
Next, try restarting your wireless router or modem:
Powering your modem or router off for a few seconds and then on again may resolve network issues without any additional troubleshooting. If you have phone service through your ISP, power cycling your modem may interrupt that service. You may need to contact your ISP in order to restore your phone service if your modem is reset or powered off. Ensure that you have alternative means to contact your ISP (such as a cell phone) to avoid unnecessary delays in restoring your Internet or phone service.
After that, try investigating the range, potential causes of interference, or whether this issue occurs on other wireless networks:
Check your range to the Wi-Fi router and reduce the effect of interference.
If your computer is too far from your Wi-Fi router or your environment has too much Wi-Fi interference, then your computer may not detect the Wi-Fi network properly. The easiest way to check for range limits with your Wi-Fi network is to move your computer or your Wi-Fi router closer together and make sure that there are no obstructions (such as walls, cabinets, and so forth) between the router and your computer.
See Potential sources of wireless interference for more information about interference and solutions.
Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. If your computer works fine when connected to a different Wi-Fi network, then the issue may be related to your network router or ISP. In that case, contact the manufacturer of your router or your ISP.
All the best,
Jeremy
