My Mac keeps restarting after Mountain Lion install

In installed Mountain Lion and now my Mac keep rebooting.  I am getting an error that there is a problem with starting up.  I am able to access my computer by using safe mode but as soon as restart it, it keeps rebooting once again.  Please help.

The trendmicro kext is likely the problem. Don´t know about the other one. You can probably start up in Safe Mode (boot with Shift-key) and uninstall the app from there, or check if there is an update to the program.

Boot on Safe Mode and then go into the library and get rid of TrendMicro files. There are other threads right now on this so do a quick search and give it a try.

  • MAC kernel panic after Mountain Lion install

Mac Kernel Panic has now started on my tower after i installed Moountain Lion.
I could not live with it and run my business so i had to get a new machine.
The tempertures are running the same on the new machine so it is NOT the temperture.
Apple support tried replacing one of my Nvita graphics cards to no avail.
Now they want to replace the second one.
    Really??
    What do you think???

Disconnect all external devices besides Apple keyboard and mouse, then see what happens.
If you don't get any kernel panics, then try connecting devices one at a time and test for a few days or until you get another KP.
I just read another post which stated there were several threads listing problems with the dual GT 120 cards and Mountain Lion. So, you might search out those if it doesn't turn out to be one of the attached devices.

  • Mac Mini crash after Mountain Lion install!

I just tried to update my wife's MacMini to Mountain Lion and when it went through the first restart, it never came back up. I checked to see if it was the monitor after searching here for a while, I am using a Samsung TV coming off the HDMI port. I plugged in a regular monitor to the mini display port and still nothing. I tried to do a hard restart after letting it sit for about 10 min and now it sounds like the hard drive is barely spinning up. Anybody have any ideas?

Oh. You are so in jail.
Plug the mini straight into the wall power supply.
You do have 4 - 8GB memory installed, right?
Disconnect everything but power and the display port to regular monitor connection. Make sure that external monitor is switched to the type of connection: DVI, HDMI, VGA. Wrong setting and your mini could be booted up sneering at you from behind a dark screen.
    Boot mini.
    Any change?

  • Pages keeps crashing after Mountain Lion install on Macbook

Hi, like others I am having issues with Pages. cannot open Pages since installing Mountain Lion on my macbook (2009) model. When I try to open a new document I get as far as the dialog box which shows previous doucments. When I try to open one or create a blank document Pages simply crashes with a crash log report window...My version of Pages is 4.2. Strangley enough my Pages works on my Imac, but not on my macbook. I have tried logging out of sharing via email and tried Icloud..all end up crashing.have rebooted, checked for updates etc..nothing is working and.was wondering what can we do?? thanks...

Try creating a new user account and see if the same thing happens in the new account. You'll have to create some test documents since there won't be any preexisting ones in the new account. If everything works in the new account, you know that the problem has something to do with your preferences, or font caches or something else particular to that one account where the app won't open. That narrows down the field of suspects.

  • After mountain lion install mac very slow

There are a bunch of threads about this. Use the search function and see what others are finding out.

  • Problem with mail after mountain lion install

Mail has become sluggish to locking up after Mountain Lion install.  I get the color wheel each time I start typing in an address to send an email.  I also get the wheel when i am typing an address or name in any web page in Safari.  Is this a Mail Problem or an Address Book problem?

It sounds like your computer needs to be cleaned up. Have your repaired permissions or cleared caches since you got the computer. Often times when upgrading operating systems permissions get screwed up and it causes issues.  Go to disk utility in your "other" folder in applications.  Select disk utility, then on the left hand side choose Mac HD then click REPAIR permissions in the center section. Wait for it to finish, restart your computer, then test.

  • Mac Restarting after Mountain Lion Upgrade

My mac keeps rebooting itself saying "your computer was restarted because of a problem"
It's only started happening after mountain lion upgrade, someone please help
This is my first post in this forum btw

    Try reinstalling Mountain Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • After Mountain Lion install, my iMac powers off instead of just going to sleep. Help? Thanks.

After I installed Mountain Lion on my 2009 iMac, it will power off after I don't use it a while. It used to just go to sleep, I'd shake the mouse, and it would come back up. Now it powers off and I have to power it back up every time.
My Macbook has NOT had this problem since Mountain Lion install. It is fine.

Do these resets to clear errant commands:
    SMC RESET
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
The 5 second timing is important to a successful reset.
    PRAM RESET
    Zap the PRAM
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

Then you need to purchase a copy of Snow Leopard. You cannot install Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion without first erasing the hard drive if you don't have Snow Leopard installed. You cannot reinstall Snow Leopard without a Snow Leopard DVD.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
If you need to purchase Snow Leopard you can still purchase a copy from Apple's online store's telesales agents.[1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775.] Ask for a Sales Representative.

  • After Mountain Lion install some software stopped working

Besides some software not working Mission control will not work. I have no way to switch between desktops. I am thinking about doing a reformat and starting over.

  • Mac Pro freezing since Mountain lion installed

I'm getting freeze ups on my Mac Pro since downloading Mountain Lion...any way to fix this or get my Lion OS back?

Morning, glad things are going ok .
I haven't re-installed Sophos yet. The Sophos forum are saying there's still an issue, so until I hear that they have resolved it, I'm leaving it uninstalled.
Under Lion, it used to run in the background with minimal resources being used. I hope Sophos can get the issue resolved ASAP for Mountain Lion.

  • Trackpad issues after mountain lion install

Since my Mountain Lion install, the trackpad on my 15" MBP will track, but won't select anything.  Hot corners aren't working, the dock won't appear, etc.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Got similar issues, no notifications and no switching between full screen apps (4fingerswipe). Some swipe features work, no secondary click in bottsom corners...Trackpad operational under Mountain Lion a total nuisance compared to Snow Leopard...PLease Apple, show some respect again to your faithfull customers and show some response!
