  • My mac screen turns black after 3 hours

when i use my iMac for about 3 hours suddenly the screen turns white or black. Does anyone has the same problem. How can i fix it?

When the screen turns black is it completely dark? If you turn out the lights and iew it in a darkened room can you see a glow from the display (indicating that the backlights are still on)?
When the display turns black or white, is it solid black or white, or are there other artificacts visible? If there are other artifacts visible could you take a picture of them and post them?
When the display turns black or white, press the caps lock key. Does the green caps lock LED light up? If yes, this indicates that the OS is still functioning at some level and that you are probably experiencing some sort of display or graphics card software or hardware issue.
When did the issue start occurring? Your profile indicates you are running 10.7.3. Was the issue occurring prior to installing 10.7.3? Have you tried reinstalling the OS?

  • My nano keeps turning off after about 30 seconds ?

why is my nano keep shuting off after 30 seconds?

    Hello Jeremie,
It sounds like your headphones aren't fully inserted.  Try giving them a little bit more of a push until you hear a clicking noise.  You shouldn't see any silver part of the plug sticking out.
If you are unable to do that, make sure the headphone jack is clear of debris and if nothing else, bring it to your local Apple Store/Genius Bar or AASP and see what they can do for you.

  • Mac mini shuts down after 10 seconds..

At first today, the CDs and discs kept automatically ejecting and wouldn't read (obviously). So I keep putting them back in hoping it would read or hold something. Then I restarted and the Mac Mini shuts down after 10 seconds of the seeing the desktop. Did I fry it? I did hear a weird sizzling when I put my hand on top of the mini. And is this under any warranty - I bought it Feb. 07? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Any thoughts on that?
One or two come to mind, not least that if the unit is under warranty now (as it clearly is) and they aren't taking this fault seriously, then buying AppleCare so it remains under warranty longer isn't the right solution - having them examine it and resolve the problem is.
There's no doubt at all that in the event there is a system with a suspected fault, extending the warranty long enough that the system ceases to function and can be repaired is a good thing, but it shouldn't be necessary to go to that extreme in order to get a problem resolved now!
I would simply take this elsewhere and have it looked at. While odd noises are sometimes hard to hear in an environment where there are people and other activities going on, and thus it is reasonable to expect diagnosis of them to prove difficult, a system that shuts down of its own accord after a few seconds is clearly not working correctly. To be sure, if it is overheating, then testing it when it's cold is likely to miss the problem, but the description of the fault from the user ought to give enough clues to put the system on test long enough to see what happens when it warms up. If the fault can't then be replicated with a system that is at normal running temperature and under load, then giving it a clean bill of health is reasonable.
Thus, in your place I would ask them if they did, in fact, test it in that way. Alternatively, write a description of the fault, specifically identifying the premature shutdowns and the circumstances in which they happen (if they still do) and the noises and the circumstances in which they occur (if they still do) and take the system and description to an approved service provider and let them look at it.
If the shutdowns are no longer occurring, and the noise is absent, then whether you buy AppleCare or not is really a matter of how confident you are that the problem has gone. If you have doubts that the system is running correctly, AppleCare is expensive but at least extends the warranty sufficiently that you can stop worrying too much. Alternatively, if the problem(s) still persist, rather than AppleCare, have the system examined and repaired right now.

  • Hp zr2740w turns off after few seconds

I have the same problem as described in an earlier post:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Audio-Video-Monitors/hp-zr2740w-turns-off-after-few-seconds/m-p...
My HP zr2740w turns off after a second or so. Tested with vga/dvi/displayport and desktop pc/laptop, so it's not a cable issue.
My hp zr2740w was bought in July 2012 so it's probably out of warranty. I live in Finland. The webshop I ordered the hp zr2740w does not exist anymore. The HP support pages don't seem to have any support numbers for displays.
I took the display to a local IT support / electrician guy and he said it's a power supply issue. But he couldn't find a place to order the part so he could replace it.
Hopefully I'll get some answer here or an idea what to do. Wouldn't want to throw away an expensive display just because it has power issues.

  • IPhone 5 keeps turning off after battery replacement

iPhone 5 keeps turning off after battery replacement. After 10 minutes or so, the phone freezes and shuts off, can't even use it anymore.

    Hi there Luke811813,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
1.Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
2.Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
3.Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
4.After at least 15 minutes, if:
•The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
•The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
•Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
5.If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
•If the display turns on, go to step 4.
•If the display remains black, go to next step.
6.Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
7.If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Issue not resolved
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • IPhone goes black after 5 seconds

My iPhone 4s, when I hit the round button, my screen goes black after 5 seconds.  Not sure why, I dont have any timeouts in the settings set to 5 seconds that I can tell, the only one i have is the lock, but that's at 5 minutes.  but its pretty consistent if the screen is black, then i hit the round button and it's sitting at the screen to swipe to unlock, if i dont do anything for 5 seconds, it goes black again.
It will also go black randomly while the phone is unlocked and in use.  any ideas?   Can't imagine 5 seconds is the default idle time for it to go black, that's pretty fast!!

Your iPhone has suffered damage and will need to be take or sent to Apple for replacement. If you have AppleCare+ coverage, the cost wll be $79 US. If you don't, the cost (if memory serves) will be $269.
    Regards.

  • Sticky Keys keeps turning off after every restart

the Sticky Keys option in the universal access prefs pane keeps turning off after every restart. how can i fix this?

It seems to be a common problem in the OS that when you restarts some of the settings get reset. For me it happens with the screeen dimming before sleep and the double click using 2 fingers and maybe others that I don't know about. I am hoping that its fixed in 10.4.7 which should be out within a week or so.
